I had high hopes for Orlando Nuts after hearing some local buzz, but my recent visit was a profound disappointment from start to finish. As a fan of authentic Mediterranean sweets, I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others.

Let's start with the main attraction: the baklava. Unfortunately, it was a culinary letdown in every sense.

Overbaked and Dry: The first thing I noticed was the color far too dark. The phyllo dough lacked any semblance of flaky, buttery delicacy. Instead, it was hard, brittle, and tasted unpleasantly overbaked, as if it had been left in the oven long after it was done. · Sugar Bomb, No Substance: The overwhelming flavor was just... sugar. There was no nuanced balance of honey, butter, and nuts. It was a one-note, cloying sweetness that completely masked the taste of the nuts themselves. · Low-Quality Nuts: Speaking of nuts, the quality was shockingly poor. They were sparse, lacked freshness, and had a slightly stale texture. In a good baklava, the nuts are the star; here, they were an afterthought, and a low-grade one at that. · The Tell-Tale Sign of a Shortcut: The texture of the entire pastry had that distinct, uniform density that screams ready-to-bake,frozen dough. It was missing the delicate, hand-layered crispness that defines fresh, high-quality baklava.

Above all of these flaws, however, is the pricing. I have never seen such ridiculous prices for baklava, even in high-end specialty shops. To charge a premium for what is clearly a low-effort, mass-produced product is simply audacious. You are paying for a "gourmet" experience and receiving a sub-par, store-bought-quality product.

In the end, you're left with an overpriced box of dry, overly sweet pastry that isn't worth a fraction of the cost. Save your money and your taste buds. There are far better options out there for authentic, lovingly-made Mediterranean sweets. I will not...

This place is so good, we gladly drive 45+ minutes to stock up on kunafa, baklava, Turkish delight, and of course, Dubai chocolate. Our family also requests we bring them Orlando Nuts desserts for holiday celebrations! The team is so helpful & kind, offering suggestions, info, and samples to make sure you get items that you’ll love. The shop is filled with all sorts of products organized so well that it makes you want to try some of everything. 😋

The white chocolate bar version of the Dubai chocolate is my absolute favorite! The crunch, the pistachio filling, and the white chocolate combine perfectly, so it’s not hard to see why it went viral. A friend who tried a large baklava slice here referred to it as a religious experience, and it’s definitely some of the best baklava you’ll have. They also offer all sorts of smaller baklava pastries that vary based on how crunchy versus soft they are and whether they’re filled with pistachio or walnuts. Orlando Nuts is the first place I learned about and tried a plate of warm kunafa, and it is so, so good. One of the team members told us he drives over from Tampa every day to prepare it fresh in the store! As someone who grew up in South Florida, I’d sort of compare it to an arepa based on the cheese and texture of the pastry soaked in syrup—for anyone else who’s not familiar with...
