Ill-mannered staff and very bad manager!.

Today we were on a trip to Duluth. I have been a regular at India Palace, Roseville and was delighted to find them at Duluth. Its been rainy and cold throughout the day and we felt to have some Indian tea/Chai. We were a group of 11 with family and kids and I told everyone lets have some pakoda/snacks and tea.. as its good there.

When we entered the restaurant at 5:10 PM, as usual we were asked how many pple to be seated and we waited as they prepared the table. When the table was ready I mentioned in passing that we are just here to have tea and snacks..which was not 100% accurate as some of us were contemplating to take parcel bcos it was too early for dinner and we were driving back. Anyway I just mentioned it in passing to make small talk.

To my utter astonishment as the waitress informed this to someone in Kitchen he came looking angry and told us that they can't seat us and we have to take parcel/ToGo ..I said yeah we are fine with that as well.. but the manner in which he said it made others in the group feel really bad.. An "Indian restaurant" which is so unwelcoming to us Indians.. who are known for hospitality.. I mean I felt angry, hurt and gutted. We decided to leave the place because we felt un-welcomed. I mean whoever is running this restaurant chain should introspect and teach some hospitality to their staff.. I mean it was fine for us to take the toGo as we are on trip & it would help us to save time.. but such misbehavior really spoiled everyone's mood.

In the whole of Minnesota and elsewhere I have been, everyone has been so friendly and we have had such a good experience.. but what an Irony this is.. to inform my Indian friends that you can expect hospitality in a foreign restaurant run by locals but don't expect it in places like India Palace.. which is devoid of any...

I know that food allergies are the responsibility of the person who has them, and the right thing to do would be to just not eat places that have your allergens, but my experience was a little different -

My father in law was catering his at home wedding, and wanted very much to ensure that I could eat everything that was ordered. I avoid eating anywhere that serves my specific allergens, and have never eaten here properly due to the risk.

My father in law called days in advance to ask if items could be made without cashews and was given every reassurance by the staff and/or owners, multiple times, that everything is made from scratch and there would be no issue. He made sure they were aware of the seriousness of it, and was given reassurance at every turn that it was possible and they were happy to accommodate.

Then again, at the time of ordering, the request was made several times and the seriousness of the allergy was conveyed in no uncertain terms, which again we were reassured that there would be no issue.

When we began serving food, I doubled checked everything and there were indeed cashews in one of the dishes - not even chopped up / etc, but big cashews halves obviously in the dish. Needless to say, I wasn't really able to eat and we didn't have a viable backup due to the reassurances we received from thr restaurant.

If this had been any other scenario, and it had been my choice to go eat there and it hadn't been cleared at multiple opportunities, with the very confident assurances that was given to us, I wouldn't be writing this review. The food IS excellent, and I know this is a well loved place. I would have loved this to be seamless so I could eat there in the future, but due to this experience I would say that anyone with allergies to food items here cannot have any confidence eating here, even with...

I've been eating here since the 90's. I've had several items in the menu, if not everything!! My favorite meals are Chicken Tikka Masala (meat option) and Aloo Gobi (veggie option). The basmati rice is flavored with saffron which makes it so good! The lamb saag is also a good option, as well Chicken Josh. If you like flavored rice, there is biryani which is amazing and has veggies in it! Every appetizer is delicious! It is traditional that you eat your meal with naan. The naan is very good it is the only kind I eat! It is nothing like store bought, store bought is gross! If you want dessert try a mango lasse or pistachio ice cream (but all the desserts are Delicious!!)! The service is always fast, the food is always prepared fresh. The staff are always friendly. The environment is always clean, calm, quiet, nicely lit, and it's decorated. I love that they offer a buffet during lunch hours, so that you can get a little bit of everything from appetizers, to mango pudding, to your meal for dinner or take out! I have eaten in, taken out, and delivered with food dudes on several occasions for many decades without disappointment. Worth it everytime! If they had a dedicated customer award, I think it would go to me lol 😂😆!! Parking can be hard on Superior St. and you have to pay for parking before 5:30pm. The restaurant is kid friendly. There are vegetarian options. It is wheel...

My party had the Navratton Korma (far left), Chicken Shahi Paneer (second from the left), Paneer Tikka Masala (second from the right), Malai Kofta (far right), and the garlic naan. All of the dishes were requested to be at a medium spice level. All of the dishes were extremely oily and over-salted. The Navratton Korma was fairly bland. There wasn’t any recognizable Indian spices or flavors. The vegetables were also a bit overcooked. The Chicken Shahi Paneer was by far the saltiest. The chicken itself was slightly dry with very few raisins or cashews. The gravy was creamy with a fairly distinct onion flavor. But the taste was missing the standard flavors of garam masala, turmeric, etc. with no heat in the dish either. The Paneer Tikka Masala was similarly bland. The paneer was not marinated and the gravy tasted like tomato sauce. The Malai Kofta had a gravy that was similar to the Shahi Paneer. The Kofta were pretty mushy and bland. This dish also didn’t have many raisins or cashews. The garlic naan was dry, burnt in most places, and flaked almost like a cracker. I think if you’re looking for Indian food in Duluth, this will have to do. But don’t place your hopes on trying authentic Indian food.

During our recent travels, we were delighted to stumble upon an Indian restaurant, hoping for a great taste. We opted for the classic Chicken Makhani and Lamb Jalfrezi. Unfortunately, the Lamb Jalfrezi had an unpleasant odor upon arrival. After a single bite, it was evident that the dish was not up to par. Politely, we requested a substitution, but to our disbelief, we were informed that due to our having touched the dish, no replacement could be provided. This policy seemed unreasonable, for how else could we discern its quality without trying it? Hungry and growing increasingly frustrated, we decided to order two additional dishes. Regrettably, our patience wore thin as we waited for over an hour and a half for the food to be served. The delay was exasperating, and we attempted to cancel the order due to the extensive wait. The waiter assured us that our meals were nearly ready, but by this point, our appetites had waned. Disheartened by the poor customer service, we paid the bill and left, unable to consume a single bite. The experience left us deeply unsatisfied, and we wished we could rate this restaurant a zero.

We( I am my wife) went to Duluth for a fall weekend. We never had high hopes from the food and were expecting it to be just average. Let me tell you we are not picky about the food and try to accommodate as much as we can. Following were the findings: 1) I tried 4 different curries in the buffet with the hope that at least one could be reasonable but was disappointed. Chana masala was too sweet, korma was full of carrots, and aloo-matar was just ok. The rice was cold and I doubt it was even basmati as they claimed. 3) The aloo tikki had less aloo and more flour in it. The nan was fine. 2) In deserts, the custard had not a single fruit in it and it seemed sour. The rice kheer was ok. We just ate to fill our tummies and the food troubled us even after 2 hours. It was surely a waste of $27 bucks. I wish I could donate that money to homeless.
