I don’t know where to start. I have never, in my 45 years of living and travelling in numerous countries have EVER had such a bad experience at a “hotel”. Just going to list the issues and you do what you want with it. Upon check in no hello. No help with suitcases. Get to the room and there are dust bunnies under the couch and pubes in the bathroom. When we leave for the day the room towels, water and glasses were never replaced. EVER. Not once unless we called. Once got bathrobes after not being replaced without the belts. Zero amenities so hope you don’t get hungry. One little jug of coffee is available only at 7am. Blasting trashy I went to Ibiza once and came back with this soundtrack in a loop felt like you were in a psych ward. Food was horrendous at the pelican bar with said soundtrack. Zero management. The staff are lovely but clearly whoever the tech bro is that runs faraway just hires anyone for minimum wage and refuses to train. The “pool” is a glorified hot tub with a dozen screaming children. Left after three days could not even stay the week we booked even though it was prepaid. Oh and after telling numerous people that work there (because who the hell knows where said manager is), no one even apologized because frankly I can tell they know this place is a dump. Regret all the money I spent on booze to mask the pain here.

Faraway Edgartown is in an absolutely prime location — you couldn’t ask for a better spot in town. My room (431) was spacious, well-configured, and even had a great private roof deck with a beautiful view of the harbor. That alone made the stay memorable. I understand that operating a hotel on an island with a short season imposes economic constraints, and that helps explain, to a degree, the egregious room rates. That said, at this price point — which is in the realm of Aman or other ultra-luxury brands — the execution should be sharper. There’s an element of superficial luxury here: the overall impression is nice, but small details undercut the experience. In my room, the dark-painted trim had small white chips and cracks at the corners, the triple-track storm windows were all sitting halfway between storm and screen, the sofa had a broken zipper with the pillow slipping out, the bathroom ceiling paint was bubbling, and the bathroom window was loose in its frame. None of these are deal-breakers for a solid “lower high-end” property, but they add up. My impression is that the original renovation was done on the cheap and the room hasn’t had someone with a true eye for detail give it a proper once-over. For the prices charged, that extra level of attention is not optional — it’s essential.

We were overwhelmed with the quality of the entire hotel from our room to the fitness center, and especially the pool and hot tub area. Everything was done to the highest quality. When you enter the main building, you are greeted with a beautiful reception area and a comfortable seating area if you need to work at all during your visit. The designers of this hotel had phenomenal taste. Our room was extremely comfortable, including the bedding, and the finishes were really fashionable. The location could not be better. We stayed in the carriage house suite which was just a stone’s throw from the harbor and all the shops and restaurants. To top it all off, there was private parking for Faraway guests. That’s a rare commodity in Edgartown. Our visit was during the off-season and yet it still felt very active and busy and I couldn’t believe the pool was still open in mid November. We will certainly come back again in the off-season and hopefully during the busy season as well.

Got to this hotel for a job, when I arrived seeing me and my coworker were in our regular clothes we received funny looks to start when we provided our information for the rooms.

Well both he and I went to get food to come back to see what could be done before the job. We got the idea to go swimming while unfortunately the pool was overcrowded by kids jumping in and we decided to wait but we could enjoy the weather to talk for a while. Hanging out minding our business when people there immediately stared at us both and sent the staff over to see if we're supposed to be there.

Mind you, I didn't see the staff bothering any of these people like me and my coworker were while we were relaxing before the job. To be honest it was bothering us even more that we couldn't get treated the same way as some of the rich guests that were there that apparently couldn't mind their business.

It was both of our first time out to Martha's Vineyard and we couldn't say we enjoyed it.

Wouldn't mind if everyone had gotten verified to be there and not just us. Cause we both witnessed it and it was actually degrading us for how we look.

As for the rich guests acting like douches I can't put my rating on that because no rating goes for the douches that act better than anyone else but for this hotel I give 1 star, the place was a beautiful stay but toxic behavior ruined it all for me. The staff should have made sure they knew we belonged there instead of just ousting us and going on their way. Next time, tell them not to bother other guests if they aren't bothering you. It brings bad attention.

Not to mention calling for room service, the phones didn't even work. Which was kind of hard when I had to use my own phone to call for room service.

When I got to my room I had found that the personalized TV message was rather cool but my coworker didn't get that luxury which was also...

I hate to give a bad review especially during these unprecedented times where all we want to do is support any business we can. However, I was extremely disappointed with the staff at The Kelley House. We were in town for my intimate wedding. We booked this hotel for our parents and toddler because of its close vicinity to The Harborview where the husband and I stayed. We read online that The Harborview didn’t accept children which is how our family ended up at the Kelley House. We would come every day as the hotel was under our names and our toddler was there. The front desk staff was extremely rude. Sure they offer complementary cookies which when my mother went to ask for, she was given a single cookie despite her standing there with my parents in law whom were also staying there. They said the complementary coffee was not worth it and the muffins were way too sweet. The day we checked out, despite them allowing us to keep the luggage at the front desk my father in law was rudely told “you cannot use the bathroom here anymore because you have already checked out.” As far as covid protocols, they were following them. Everyone wearing masks, the rooms themselves were clean which is the 1 star. However, no elevator which we also didn’t know until we got there. Also no safe. How does a 4.5 rated hotel not even have safes? Staff saw us bringing luggage down from second floor and didn’t offer any help. I’m sorry but the pandemic shouldn’t stop you from being nice to your customers. If that is the case, it should have remained closed. Since husband and I stayed at the Harborview, we were spoiled by the amazing customer service and impecable service and friendly staff. Our family was extremely disappointed with their stay at the Kelley House which was disappointing to us given that it was def not a cheap hotel at all! Def overpriced! Take your...

The property and rooms are gorgeous! Nespresso coffee, comfy linens, awesome little poolside bar with great cocktails and snacks and really nice bartender (didn’t catch his name but he was super friendly!). Walkable to a little beach and Marina and great food and shops so perfect location.

The single con is the management? We were traveling with little kids so attempted to call ahead a few weeks before just to confirm the amenities in the kitchenette and couldn’t reach anyone. Tried emailing, no response, tried DMing on Instagram and someone responded (!) saying someone would be in touch immediately… never heard from anyone…we actually DM’d them again and they said on sorry we will have someone reach out today but we never heard from anyone. About a week before the trip my brother in law actually got through to someone that had limited Info about the rooms (he said it sounded like an outsourced call center or something) and they confirmed the room had a microwave, so we packed easy stuff for the kids like oatmeal and easy Mac etc. We were not surprised to find there was no microwave, but when we asked the front desk about this they said o we will bring you one! No microwave, so the next morning we called and politely asked about the status and they apologized saying one would be brought up within 15 minutes. You guessed it, no microwave. I stopped by a little later and asked and they said that they actually didn’t have a microwave but someone would call me. It really wasn’t a big deal, but thought they handled this a bit strangely? Why spend a fortune building a gorgeous hotel but then not invest in solid staff/operations?

This is still a beautiful spot so...
