Time Emporium Escape Rooms: Estes Park — Attraction in Estes Park

Well we seem to have had a different experience to everyone else. Sophie wasn't particularly welcoming or helpful, making us feel like an inconvenience. Maybe escape rooms are different in the UK, but this was an uphill struggle from the start. Games masters are usually so passionate about escape rooms and love to chat and make sure you knew what to expect, etc .... none of that here! This was not helped when we arrived 15 mins before our time to find the place still locked up!

We did get particularly stuck on one puzzle, but just having repeated recorded hints didn't really help. Maybe our brains had gone soft as we were on holiday, who knows.

We found things weren't particularly connected or clear and without the small torch we took we would have been in a real pickle.

We would have had a totally different feel if the games master had been chatty and even offered a photo at the end rather than just saying bye and wanting rid of us asap. In the UK if you don't finish they sometimes give you a little more time or at least show you / explain where you struggled, none of that here!

Really frustrating as the games masters when we dropped in the evening before to book had been super friendly.

It just shows that it is the whole experience that matters, not...

So, our first escape room ever, and we're not disappointed! The only thing I felt was a bit off was that the time seemed to have started when our hostess came out to talk to us, but maybe not. Our appt was for 4pm, and the "time was up" at 4:47. So the hour we got seemed to start sooner than we thought, but I also didn't look at my watch when we started.

Anyway, the room itself was really tough but fun. We figured out most of the puzzles. Some didn't seem to make sense, but we managed to almost escape.

The "cons" if any, were that our rooms were showing their sings of wear and tear. The wall decorations were starting to come out of the wall with some exposed screws, the decorations that looked like vines or tree branches were bent in a way that when reaching for some things my son got scratched on his arm.

I had so much fun playing the Temple of Doom room! The aesthetics are beautiful and the puzzles are challenging, but not impossible. My friend and I had so much fun and escaped with 1:49 left on the clock. Sophie was an excellent hostess, with quick-witted charm. She gave us the perfect amount of help with a particularly difficult puzzle, and I appreciated her looking out for us as we were missing a crucial piece. However, she did not overstep and left us to figure things out on our own and seemed genuinely excited when we escaped the room. Excellent experience, and I plan to bring friends back so we can play with Atlantis room- hopefully with Sophie...
