I highly recommend thinking twice before staying at this hotel. As soon as we got here we waited hours for our room to be ready and then once we checked on it that's when they told us it was no longer available because the previous people decided to extend their stay. I understand that is not their fault, but they seemed to know this for hours and they never let us know. It only got worse when they offered us a different room and we spent hours waiting on that room too only for them to end up saying they hadn't even started on it. Finally they told us they had another room available this whole time that was the equivalent size of the room we originally booked but they weren't telling us that because they were trying to get us in a bigger room. It took another hour for that room to be ready as well.
When the room was finally done the person who took our luggage disappeared for 15-20 minutes. When we asked about it the front desk lady proceeded to bark at my elderly mother over the situation and she was visibly agitated at us for asking even though she herself confirmed the luggage should not have taken more than 10 minutes.
As if that wasn't enough the elevator is a complete nightmare and I'd even go as far as to say it's dangerous. It's a miracle if you even get an elevator, which takes time in itself as only two out of four elevators are ever "working" if even that. Once you get in it's a race to use your card to select your floor and it immediately starts moving and most of the time your floor has already been passed before you can even get the button pressed. That is considering the buttons even work. We got stuck in it multiple times and we witnessed several people getting stuck on random floors. We were in an elevator full of several families and the only button that would work is floor 20. One family had a small child and they had to walk down 12 flights of stairs to get back to their floor. We met a woman in the lobby who said she got stuck in it for 10 minutes before the doors reopened. Everyone we met there was complaining about it and the staff are fully aware of the issue and don't do much about it.
To make it worse, we witnessed firsthand why the rooms take forever to be cleaned. Every floor we went to the maids were goofing around in the hallways. They were in the room across from us for about 4 hours and we could even hear them giggling from inside our room. We felt bad as we saw one girl doing most of the work herself and she looked exhausted.
If you look at the reviews for the rooftop restaurant Nube you'll also see reports of bad service and even racism. This is also apparent at the restaurant on the pool floor. We saw people and staff inside the restaurant and there was no closed sign or hours listed anywhere so we tried the door. It was locked, no big deal we'll just go somewhere else. But no, as a worker rolled their eyes at us from inside then proceeded to come out and yell at us for trying to open the door. I understand we were at fault here but there was no need to come chew us out. We only tried the door once and were on our way when they came out.
Overall, the building is very nice and has good views and a nice area. The rooms are spacious and well decorated. There was some trash that accumulated in the hallway while we were there and there were stains on the couch and one of the bed pillows, but other than that I would say it's generally clean. The downstairs cafe is convenient and we enjoyed very good service and excellent food there. The prices are on the high side but nothing crazy for the area.
If the service and the elevator issues were fixed this would be a great option, however they are not minor issues. It was a very stressful time and we almost just gave up and went somewhere else but didn't want to go through the headache of a refund. Overall, it's not horrible but definitely think twice before...
Read morePrior to booking my stay, I did thorough research on various sites for feedback (I looked at a few hotels and ultimately decided that the Hilton Beachfront was our best choice). Upon arrival, valet was professional, but I was shocked to hear the daily $58 + tax fee. Okay, we got our things and went to the lobby. It was approx 3:10 and check in is at 4:00pm - The lady who helped me at the front desk was rude, she didn’t look at me in my eyes once nor did she explain anything or offer any kind of information about our stay. She basically set up the credit card reader and told me that I owed $600 ($150 per night incase of damages)…. She didn’t attempt to break it down or explain what the fees were for or how this would be returned at the end of my stay. She failed to share the amenities or hotel information, really nothing! Just completely rude and here, swipe your card! I was already ticked off, then she says to me ‘you’ll receive a text when your room is ready’ to which I responded ‘by 4pm right?’ to which she responded ‘you’ll receive a text’. Again, I’m ticked off by the lack of professionalism and the fact that this woman did not offer to let me know everything that was available to us as guests of the ‘BEACHFRONT HILTON’. We got up to our room and the view was descent (side, but clear view of the ocean) - the room appeared ‘clean’, but once I started to unpack and get my toddler ready I started to notice the dust and all the dark corners that obviously never get noticed by the cleaning staff. The shower was disgustingly dirty (still had hair and sand from previous guests). I started to put water in the tub to give my child a bath and the water literally came out yellow. My daughter was terrified and I immediately turned off the water. There was a sign in the bathroom stating that the yellow water was safe and normal. Ummm, no! I requested a pot and pan to make my daughter little things she enjoys to comfort her as this was our first real vacation away from home. The pan was dirty and reeked! Okay….. moving on, the next day we left for the day and I requested room service to tidy the room…. The sheets were not changed, the towels had holes & stains. The floor still had sand, the shower still had sand from the PREVIOUS guests! Okay, we tried to spend as little time as we could in our hotel room because we were so disappointed. We went down to the pool 2 days, both days it was hard to find seats and if we did, they didn’t have umbrellas. Both days, I found cups in the pool (plastic, but still… those could hurt you if broken) - the towels were all discolored and looked dirty. Our third day there, we were getting ready to go out and as I did my makeup water started to drop off the roof (from the air conditioner)!!!!!! That didn’t stop the rest of the trip. Again requested room service and guess what? The sand from the previous guests was still thriving in our shower. Finally check out day came and when we went down to the lobby, it was full of construction workers, dust and debris. They were literally knocking down walls without proper covers and we were all breathing in the dust and particles while we waited for assistance. Their internet/systems were slow because they were working from a different desk (now that they were knocking down the previous front desk area). I paid the resort fee and valet fees and got out of there as soon as I could! I’m not sure I’d recommend this hotel to anyone I know and I HIGHLY doubt I’d ever consider coming back. I wouldn’t recommend it to a stranger and I’m so disgusted by the lack of professionalism and cleanliness. Hilton must be a dying brand now and to think they are praised...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this property. I wanted to love it, but unfortunately, it fell short. When a property identifies as a resort, you expect it to have the appearance of a resort. It looks like there was a little money invested in the common areas (front entrance on the way to the check-in desk was disappointing), but overall, this property needs work.
Pros The staff that I encountered were great, especially Nixon at the bell hop station and Tawana (sp?) in the Ilios restaurant. Both of these individuals should be given a raise. We had a question about a nearby breakfast restaurant and looked for someone to help us (location, recommendation), like a concierge. Well, there was no concierge on duty (called in sick), but Nixon was there. He is a treasure. He was pleasant, accommodating, full of information to help us and although he had never been to the restaurant Hatch, he was willing to find out where it was and how to get there. Upon our return, Nixon was at the entrance again, remembered our names and asked how our visit was (side note: Hatch is great, and they serve breakfast all day, but close at 4. It is extremely popular, and we had a 30-minute wait, but it was worth it. Food was amazing. You will need a car or Uber to get there). Nixon impressed me as the type of employee who takes great pride in his work, loves to serve the people he encounters, is willing to help his co-workers, and represents the hotel well.
Tawana (sp?) was equally accommodating at the Ilios restaurant. This restaurant is onsite right by the pool. She was single-handedly taking care of all of the guests inside the restaurant, apologizing many times for the wait but delivered great service without seeming annoyed. The food was delicious. At the end, we asked her for recommendations for other restaurants and she enthusiastically recommended S3 (another onsite restaurant – I recommend it as well. The food and service (Chris) was amazing).
On the property, there are many places to sit, relax, have a cocktail or coffee, and look out over the ocean without feeling crowded. The ocean is directly across the street with a designated section for each of the hotels on the beach.
Cons Here is where a lot of work is needed and before writing this, I have taken a number of things into consideration (short staff, not enough resources), but the negative things I observed can be fixed.
The level of cleanliness in the rooms is below standard. The first room was dirty. So much so that no wiping down with cleaning cloths I brought on my own would suffice. I am talking about the need for bleach and a thorough cleaning. The front desk staff offered to change rooms. This second room was marginally better, but the details were missing again (floor around toilet, faucet fixtures, etc.) and there was no attempt at all to beautify the room (one lonely picture on the white walls). Additionally, although it is billed as a full kitchen there were no utensils, glasses, or cups. The basic things were sorely missing. The housekeeping staff needs to be retrained by professional cleaners.
We happened to come back from an outing around the busiest time (check in) and there was only 1 out of 4 elevators available for guests. The staff had reserved one of the elevators for access to the rooftop deck.
Overall, if relaxing is what you are after, the Beach House delivers but unless they revise and up their standards of cleanliness,...
