There’s no way this is a 3 star hotel. To spare you wasting your money, let me describe for you exactly what one night in this place was like. I got a great price on Priceline, saw it was 3.5 stars on Yelp and Google but thought since it was by the ocean it was ok it wasn’t a luxury hotel, as long as it’s clean and safe and since Priceline rating showed 7.3 stars thought it would be ok for my daughter and I to stay in. Booked it, arrived about 8pm. Front desk people were friendly. Building looked rough so I found myself looking at what type of cars were in the parking lot in hopes it wasn’t as bad as it felt first impression upon arriving. Room was on third floor. Elevator is old, dingy and slow, a big “thunk” when it reaches your floor. Got into our room. First sight I thought oh ok this isn’t too bad, looks clean and kept, there’s a microwave and mini fridge and safe in the closet. Thought it would be alright. Took my shoes off and the linoleum floor was damp. I’m aware by the ocean it’s humid. But this room is not well ventilated at all, walking on the floor feels like there’s sweat or lotion under your feet at all times that makes you slide a little when you walk. Bed was fine, but the pillows are almost worthless, they’re little squares, yes, not even rectangles, that feel like a flimsy bunchy wadded up bedsheet stuck inside a pillow case. Bathroom was not good. Found hair on the floor and a long black hair hanging from the shelf above the toilet. Shower head is the kind you’d find in a camp site shower. No fan or way to ventilate the bathroom so when you shower, everything fogs and the floor gets even more slippery than when it was already. The towels are paper thin and smelled moldy. Legit moldy. Gross. The air conditioner is so loud it sounds like something that would run in a warehouse. If my standards were super high we wouldn’t have taken our chance at staying at a place like this but let me tell you the volume of the AC is obnoxious and even when you click the “off” button it keeps running. Never actually turns off. Daughter and I went out for an hour then returned to discovering the room next door was a group of college age girls who got drunk and smoked weed that seeped through the walls/vents and yelled and partied until 1am. Describing the walls as paper thin is an understatement. We couldn’t sleep so I finally called the front desk. I was surprised they answered at 1am. The lady thanked me for letting her know, and went to the room and knocked until someone answered. The girls apologized and finally got quiet. Getting past the sound of the loud AC and hearing every single car and siren and horn and semi truck and motorcycle drive by because the walls are so thin was another hurdle but by that point in the night we were so exhausted we finally fell asleep. Checked out as early as we could get out of there. When checking out the front desk lady did not ask how our stay was. I tried explaining to her what happened and she interrupted me and said she’d inform housekeeping but there was nothing they could do. I will never stay at a place like that again. It’s worth paying extra to find a nicer hotel and...
Read moreWas a welcoming experience, the front desk girl, April was very kind and professional. Making sure everything was accurate. And all the details were done right. |Had no trouble finding my room which is a large king size bed, with a nice couch, and window overlooking the hotels on the beach. And the street. |I was right by the elevator, which I was nervous being it'd be noisy, but the entire stay, 3 day weekend, I barely heard anyone just a few people maybe walking to their rooms and door opening and closing. ( only downside of the room was the air conditioning was a bit loud. But kept the room at a nice temperature once I got it the way I liked it. |Bathroom is a bit small and dark, for my taste, but it worked fine for it's functions. |Housekeeping is upon request only, which I didn't mind, because I just came back each day and wasn't bothered at all. Requested the maintenance staff to check the coffee maker and fridge. And each time they arrived quickly and with a smile and got right to it. And showed me how the coffee maker worked. And made the mini fridge/ cooler as cold as it can be so I will have fresh food during my stay. Overall, cleanliness was nice. I bring my own shampoo and soap, but it was nice they had there in the bathroom. The maintenance staff son and dad team were excellent assistance. And such friendly people. |It's nice the hotel hires family members working together. Front desk staff were always so friendly and the manager was so kind and helpful and always checking in on you as you passed by, even if she was busy. I didn't use their beach chairs, but I enjoyed the pool area every day. Was nice and quiet there. The front desk welcome area is nice and cozy, with snacks and things you may have forgotten for sale, and drinks and a coffee machine for purchase. They have a small outdoor reception area where you can sit and wait for your Uber. |They are also connected to the hotel next door ocean beach club which the layout is very different than the ocean beach palace but same great service. |They even have a car rental too, which I did not need. Or use. |You can use both pools if you'd like. |The front desk April and Diego ( spelling?) Were very friendly. And the others too. I dont recall all their names. Anything I needed was met with a smile and made sure it was taken care of right away. The ONLY downside I had was the tv wasn't the greatest, but their free wifi worked well and I just used my own laptop anyway. Had no issue being near the elevator, I barely heard anyone hanging out there in the indoor hallway or the elevator at all. Hotel housekeeping staff were friendly and provided you with what you needed with a smile. And respected your late checkout too. I was not rushed out or bothered at all. Thank you for that. |Thank you for a wonderful, and very RELAXING stay ... everyone was so friendly and smiling. And they enjoyed being there. The other guests were respectful and it was a very pleasant quiet weekend stay. Thinking of coming again for the...
Read moreLet me start by saying that you should not trust every review when you choose to book. I booked this place based on a friends recommendation. After booking, I read a lot of the reviews and instantly regretted it. Upon arrival, the place looks run down, from the outside. There are two buildings and one seems to be better kept than the other. Also, the parking lot needs a lot of work. The lobby is beautiful and well air conditioned. ||I cannot speak for every room, however, ours was 210 in the older building and immaculate. We had a two bedroom suite and it was VERY spacious and VERY clean. Housekeeping needs to be requested when you want it, but it is available. The room had a mini fridge and microwave. No coffee pot. Each bedroom came with air condition that really pumps. The bathroom is tiny but, functional. The lighting in the rooms was not great, especially if you need to get ready. There is also not a lot of drawer space. Other downside to the room, which is not the properties fault , is just the sheer amount of sand that ends up accumulating in there .||There are two pools. One of which goes to 8 feet with a seated edge all around and another that goes to 6 feet. The 8 foot pool has no shade, but plenty of seats. The pool closes at 8, but there are people out there past 8. The 6 foot pool has plenty of shade. There are loungers, cabanas and shaded seats. Pool towels are available in the lobby. Both pools are VERY hot. Both pools also have a variety of lizards/ iguanas that hang out. The resident iguana was named Jimmie by a guest. He will try to eat your food. He can climb tables. AND on occasion he poops in the pool and it looks like human poop. ||The “public” beach is a 20 minute walk down the street. There are no amenities at the beach. On our 4th day, a local showed us how to cut through the hotel across the street. Probably not smiled upon, but if you are not an a**hole, then you can also do this. Beach chairs are available for 5 dollars per day through the hotel lobby or 15 dollars per day at the jetski hut at the other hotel. ||Only cons, in my opinion, are the amount of homeless people that are around the property. They are friendly and do not bother you. There is a Winn Dixie in walking distances as well as a liquor store, McDonald’s, beach store, Dunkin and nail salon. ||For the price, I HIGHLY...
