I saw the photos of the resort and thought it looked great. But she’s old and tired and needs a LOT of work. There’s water damage, lots of water damage with crumbling concrete. The room and bed and bedding were just ok. But the ikea dresser in our room is ready to fall apart. There are not enough outlets where you need outlets to be, like by the desk or large mirror. The website states small kitchenette. That means a refrigerator no microwave. The bathroom literally looks like they tiled OVER the old tile and never finished. And two bath towels??? I will never understand why hotels cannot get this right. If there is a man and a woman staying in the room you need at least three bath towels!!! The safe did not work. And the constant DRIP DRIP DRIP DRIP DRIP…… from the roof onto the metal roof outside our room. There was a party in the ballroom directly below our room. We asked at the front desk and we’re told it would be over by 11 at 11:30 it was still going strong we called and complained they turned the music down. But it didn’t stop until almost 12. With as much money as are charged for drinks (starting at $15 each plus tip) and a sandwich ( with tip $28) you seem to be raking in money like crazy. We finally realized all the tin shacks on the side were the owners cabanas. I would be ashamed of having friends over and showing them to my cabana and It looks like nothing more than a tin shack. And that huge mess behind them. Cleaning up a mess is free. And who can forget the the constant overwhelming smell of marijuana wafting through the hallway on level number two near the employees elevator. No But there’s just too much deferred maintenance. And a concrete building on the beach with that much water damage I just can’t risk being in it when it falls flat as a pancake. It’s sad really. You’ve got a gem but she needs some real work not just some drywall mud over crumbling concrete. Edit- talking with someone else that was there at the resort the same where time we were, when they checked in there was blood on their sheets of the bed!!!! We were originally given a room that was supposed to be “ocean view” #200, but the seal on the window had broken and so there was condensation between the panes of glass and you could not see through it. One night we wanted to go to the nice restaurant for dinner only to be met with a sign “CLOSED- gone on vacation” I’m 63. I have traveled around the world. I have never seen a sign at a hotel restaurant that says it’s closed because they’ve gone on vacation. Don’t you have people for that???!

Updated 1/29/24 below - No no no no! My original review here in March 23' - It's not the Marriot for triple the money per night. $224 vs $699 currently. With that said, yes the rooms need some updating. We had a gallon of paint in our closet which I decided not to utilize as I was trying to get away from that for a few days. The cleaning staff were always making up our room in-between our coming and going and I noticed daily workers mopping and dusting common areas. Location is very good with local eateries within 20 minutes walk or a $6 Uber. Tiki bar on site is nice and the food from it was satisfactory. We saw no bugs or rodents and agree with a past traveler that the junk pile of old room fixtures should be removed from the north side of the building. I also imagine a room on the north east corner beach view could be annoying with the constant cruise ship looking AC vent running outside your window. All in all, we added a night to our stay and found the McDonald's directly across the street from the hotel the afternoon before we left. No signage on that side of the building. The beach chair staff is also worthy of note as they found us what we needed each day despite us not getting out to the sand until the afternoon. I would return knowing these things and focus my money on the wonderful attractions of Lauderdale. Update 1/29/24 - Came for two nights, I have to agree with many current reviews here and have updated mine accordingly since visiting last March. Pool is a mess, Very dirty, only 2 little kids dare go in it. Cigarette butts floating in it. It doesn't look like anyone's cleaning it daily. The area around the pool is the same. Our room had no covering over the bathroom window. The air was either full blast or not on at all. One small blanket. Very few TV channels. Really the beach and the tiki bar are the only reasons to stay here, next time we are going to try one of the many quaint cleaner, more kept up motels down the road. This has turned into one of those places where everywhere you look you see something that needs fixing or could be done better. Just not a really nice experience. I'd like to add if you're looking for a home in North Jersey I would not recommend Terrie O'Conner Gateway Reality in Hasbrouck Heights NJ.

Hotel review of room 412, 4th floor ocean view:|I stayed from 5/18 until 5/23. I booked through Expedia a while ago; I reserved an ocean view room. I love that it was a one stop shop. I rented a car because I booked a few excursions and was going to see friends. My overall experience was a good one and I would stay here again. I loved that there was a Dunkin Donut’s within walking distance, as a local Walgreens, etc.||What you NEED to know, things I found out as I went: |• Valet parking only. $18/day as a guest of the hotel. $6/day if you are just coming for the beach, a day pass, you can’t use the pool if you are not a guest at the hotel|• This is not an all-inclusive resort, you are charged for basically everything except a beach/pool towel. You get a card at the front desk, hand it in at the rental booth by the beach, and you get it back when you return the towel. I always bring one beach towel from home because they are REAL beach towels. The towels that are supplied by the hotel are more of a shower towel to me.|• Beach chair fee $14.95/day, card only (you can buy a cheap one at Target or whatever and leave it there when you leave, you will save money that way)|• Umbrella fee $14.95/day, card only (same idea as above)|• Small table is available for rent, I do not know how much as I did not rent one, card only. I have a foldable one that will fit in my luggage, so there’s that idea|• Tip they take cash, don’t remember if you can put that on the card|• No room service|• No microwaves in the room, so if you’re taking food bad to your room in the minifridge be prepared to eat it cold|• No coffee makers in the room|• The temperature of the pool water was warm, like a luke warm bath||Pros:|• Gorgeous view from balcony of the ocean |• Housekeeping comes quickly when you call the front desk|• Great water pressure in the shower, perfect temperature|• Cute gift shop|• Perfect for a beach vacay|• Friendly staff|• The food at restaurant on the beach Tiki, was awesome (despite being disorganized.) The food was delicious, and the servers came to the beach and served you there|• You are right next to the elevators, convenient for me with my service dog|• Truly a dog friendly hotel||Cons:|• Valet only, $18/day, in and out all day|• Valet disorganized, when I called in the day I landed on my way over to ask questions about parking and I was told that it was either $18 for the week or the day, “either way” is what I was told, and they were unsure if it means that I can go in or out all day.|• One day I went to get my car out of valet and I told him that I was going to take my dog for a quick walk before getting in the car and the guy said “your car is right there if you want to walk and get it.” Right there was not 10 feet away, it was down an entire row of vehicles and it was hot out, thinking my dog’s paws on the black top.|• The restaurant on the beach was disorganized, I stood at the table, and no one asked if I was being helped (despite 3 of them standing right there and walking back and forth) until a man pointed out what I was looking for|• When you order from the beach, regardless of what you order, your tip is automatically added to your bill, pray that the service is worthy of that automatically added tip|• WiFi is unstable |• You are right next to the elevators; you hear the elevators all day and the traffic in and out|• Cabinets in bathroom were off track, maybe broken. I didn’t use them, so it didn’t bother me|• Cracked floor tiles in a few places|• Lamp shades were dirty, one looked like it had dry blood on it||Communication is not that great at all. I emailed a few times before I got there and received two responses of “beautiful.” |Also, I asked about a late checkout because I’d be there with my service dog. I was told that late checkout is $120/hour. On the day of my checkout, I asked a very nice lady at the front desk who said that they do not offer late checkout on Fridays and that it is NOT $120/hour, that it is about $50-$200 for a late check out. Good luck on getting the straight answer the first time you ask, even if you...
