Avoid This Hotel at All Costs - A Nightmare Experience
If I could give this hotel negative stars, I absolutely would. My stay at the Ocean Mile Hotel in Fort Lauderdale was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve stayed in many places over the years. From deceptive advertising to shockingly poor service, this hotel should be avoided at all costs. Deceptive Listing: The pictures online are completely false—they use images of another hotel’s exterior to lure unsuspecting customers. The actual property is rundown and completely different from what they advertise. It’s a blatant bait-and-switch scam. Unhygienic Rooms: The level of cleanliness (or lack thereof) was appalling. The headboard of the bed was so sticky that my hair literally got stuck to it—something I’ve never encountered before in my life. How does that even happen? Broken Amenities: They had a coffee maker in the room, but the jug was broken, rendering it useless. It felt like a random assortment of broken items was thrown into the room as a poor excuse for amenities. Why even bother? No Housekeeping: During our entire stay, no one came to clean our room, change the bed sheets, take out the trash, or clean the restroom. The only items provided were a single tiny soap and a shampoo. No toothbrush, toothpaste, or other basic toiletries were offered. Thankfully, my wife had packed some essentials, but that doesn’t excuse the hotel’s complete lack of effort. There weren’t even proper blankets—just thin, cheap sheets that looked like something a homeless person would use. Broken Facilities: The toilet seat was mismatched, with the seat and lid from two completely different brands, obviously patched together after a previous breakage. It looked cheap and was barely functional. Security Concerns: The final straw? My brother’s backpack went missing from his room. When we reported it to the front desk and even the police, the hotel staff showed absolutely no concern. Their attitude made it clear this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened—they treated it as completely normal. The lack of care and responsibility from the management was both shocking and infuriating.
Final Thoughts: This hotel is a disaster in every possible way. The management doesn’t care about its guests, the rooms are filthy and unsafe, and the amenities are either nonexistent or broken. I’ve stayed in budget accommodations before, but this was on a whole new level of terrible. Save yourself the trouble, money, and frustration—book elsewhere. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. If you value your peace of mind and personal safety, avoid Ocean Mile Hotel like the plague.
