Pros: Close to Disney.
Cons: Shocking, shocking, shocking!!! If you can avoid….then do so !!!! There’s a pungent smell of gas about the complex, which in the open air is very concerning. The staff pretend it’s not happening. Coupled with that, there is no hot water and hasn’t been any throughout our stay. Cold showers everyday. All guests are experiencing the same. Some people are leaving tomorrow and have had no hot water for 14 days.
This hotel shouldn’t be open. Hot water is a basic amenity. Nobody on the staff knows what is happening and cannot provide any answers. Apart from the stock answer of “ the water will be on later today”. However, it never happens. You will leave with large itchy lumps on your skin. The offending creature(s) in the room is yet to be identified. But if you read previous reviews, then you get the idea!
The rooms are very dated, tired, worn out, abused etc etc. Be prepared to hear other guests above, below or to the side of you flushing their toilets but so far not using the showers. I can’t think why !!! There’s no sound proofing at all. We are woken most days by somebody else’s alarm in the building. It’s pot luck whether we can gain access to our room, because the lock is very temperamental. We have seen housekeeping regularly kicking and trying to force doors to bring fresh towels. The bedding, towels, pillows etc are well used. The sheets will not be changed during your stay. We are 10 days in with the same sheets. The hotel states free laundry. That’s a “no” ! You will be charged for doing your own laundry. The bed valance literally has mould growing on it. The carpets should be removed; they are that stained. Plug sockets are dangerous. Mostly because they aren’t attached to the wall in some rooms. We have a floor standing lamp, that on a good day provides a strobe lighting effect at best. The air conditioning is so loud that you cannot sleep. So we have been turning it off at night and cooking in our own juice so to speak ! We feel as though we have taken part in some kind of endurance challenge staying here.
There is a pool or two where you can warm up after your shower. Or go for a dip in people soup as we call it. Many guests are complaining about how funky the pool water is but they need some warm water to relax in.
It’s a tired, old hotel with many issues. Taking money from tourists, isn’t one of them. Everything comes at a price and it’s usually a hefty one. Virtually nobody understands a word, so communication is difficult. This is not a cheap hotel to rent a room in, but the facilities and basic amenities aren’t there. Needless to say the staff do not care. They are clearly used to complaints and simply ignore them or tell lies to fob the guest off. It has the name Ramada. Don’t be fooled by that. So, stay at your own risk. I’m not sure it deserves 1 star ! If you want somewhere expensive to stay with indoor wildlife, dodgy plumbing and a cold shower daily; then you’ve hit the...
Read moreThis hotel leaks when raining. I had 5 rooms in two different buildings and all upper floors. We were on floor 5 and 6 of the tower, and had two rooms in the second floor of one of the other buildings. On floor 5, the windows were actively leaking water on top of what was seeping from the exterior wall. When speaking to other guests, we heard that the 7th and 8th floors had similar problems. Maintenance's solution to the leaks were extra towels. So if you were wondering about a musty smell like we were, it's mold.
We evacuated for hurricane milton and booked to Friday. After experiencing a flood inside the building, we checked out early. I was still charged for Thursday night.
The rooms, on top of the bad smell, were poorly cleaned. Sheets were stained, I was missing a shower curtain, and my SIL purchased cleaning supplies to actually clean the bathrooms. My Grandmother in law (she was housekeeping for Marriott before retiring) spoke to one of the cleaning ladies about the condition of our rooms and was told that our rooms wont be cleaned until Thursday, after the storm.
We were given vouchers to eat at the buffet in the morning but my husband and SIL, when trying to purchase dinner, found out they ran out of a lot of ingredients. Fair, it was a hurricane. We decided not to go since the power shut off at 3am. We were able to buy a pizza for dinner, and I thought it was good... better than domino's.
Pet fees also seem to vary person to person. My parents, who checked in a day before me, were charged a $35 pet fee. I was charged a $50 pet fee, after confirming a $35 pet fee with a wyndham agent while booking the rooms over the phone. Kimberly, the front desk manager, said I should be greatful i wasn't price gouged like other hotels did. For some reason, i don't agree with that sentiment.
Now, I've spent a week calling the front desk trying to get a hold of someone to discuss compensation with. The agents (special shout out to Cheryl who sent over my invoices) have been amazing and professional. I feel bad that I have to harrass them to try to get access to someone that can process refunds. I am surprised that management never seems to be in to deal with problems which is not fair to their staff and customers. I can understand Kimberly, the front desk manager being sick, but she needs some sort of back up that can help her when she is out. I finally spoke to her today, she needed to discuss possible compensation for the flooded rooms with the GM, but according to the front desk, he wasn't in today and he wasn't in for all the other times I've called as well.
Im feeling really frustrated by this experience and I hope someone with wyndham or ramada sees this and finally makes time to actually help me. I am looking for compensation for the extra night i was over charged for, the flooded rooms, the up charge on the pet fee, and the uncleanliness of the rooms on our arrival....
Read moreWords cannot adequately express the disappointment and frustration we experienced during our attempted stay at the Ramada Kissimmee Gateway. We feel it is important to highlight the various issues we encountered, ranked by severity, to ensure an accurate representation of our experience.
First and foremost, upon entering the room, we were greeted by a disturbing odor reminiscent of a pest control product. This was highly unpleasant and added to our overall discomfort.
Next, the swing guard lock on the door did not function properly, compromising the security of our room. This is an alarming concern that significantly impacted our peace of mind.
The headboard in our room was not attached, resulting in incessant banging against the wall with even the slightest movement, the bed frame was literally the cheapest made bed frame you can find. Later, we discovered the bed skirt was torn, and it became evident that the bed sheets had not been changed, as we found hair between the sheets and they were extremely wrinkled. This lack of cleanliness is deeply disconcerting.
The overall cleanliness of the room was unsatisfactory. The baseboard trim was filthy, and we noticed broken or missing pieces of trim throughout the room. Rust on the bathroom sink and a broken lampshade further added to our disappointment.
The cable TV constantly froze, rendering it virtually unusable. Despite attempts to enjoy some entertainment, we were repeatedly met with frustration due to the persistent freezing issues.
Additionally, we discovered the rug appeared to be pulled up in multiple places, posing a tripping hazard. The cupboards showed signs of significant wear and tear, with chipped and scratched surfaces and no apparent attempts at repair.
One of the sconces by the bed was noticeably misaligned, leaving a gap at the top. The electrical outlets were dirty and loose, which is concerning from both a cleanliness and safety standpoint.
We had booked a king sized room and were given a room with a queen bed. When we contacted the front desk they kept telling us and trying to reassure us that the bed was in fact a king. The staff was difficult to work with and we ended up leaving within an hour of our arrival.
In conclusion, our stay at the Ramada Kissimmee Gateway fell far below our expectations. The accumulation of these issues, ranging from compromised security to cleanliness and maintenance concerns, significantly impacted our comfort and overall experience. We sincerely hope that the necessary steps will be taken to address and rectify these issues for...
