Most frustrating travel experiences we’ve ever had as a family!!
We booked through their $99/night promotion, thinking it was a great deal & were open to possibly buying a timeshare. That led to what was supposed to be a 90-minute pitch turning into 3.5 exhausting hours, with three kids in tow. We later found out that Westgate pays third-party companies $400 per family to lure guests in with these deals. It’s a bait-and-switch, & if you’re not an owner, you’re treated like you don’t matter.
We were misidentified as WOW Members by Simon & told we’d get 25% off purchases. We didn’t—& it was embarrassing trying to use a discount that didn’t apply. This led to a 30-minute customer service phone call—more time away from my family.
We later learned we should’ve received a VIP Black Card with 10% discounts across the resort & Orlando Package perks—but we didn’t get it until the day before we left. At that point, I had already spoken to multiple staff, & complaints had been passed around endlessly where someone could have caught it!
Lucky enough to see the GM walking across the front reception area while waiting on our sales pitch. Said he’d find us upstairs. Although he never came back to us he did give a $75 resort credit and late checkout, which honestly didn’t come close to making up for the stress, confusion, & time lost with my family. Late checkout was a joke! They knocked on our door all morning long w/ Do Not Disturb sign on.
Charged for 8 waterpark tickets with no explanation.
Hot tub didn’t work, sliding door wouldn’t lock, & teens banged on our door at 1 AM, terrifying our 5-year-old. I had to barricade both of our doors with chairs so my 5 year old would sleep.
When we called to report, we explicitly asked for security not to knock & wake the kids again. They came anyway.
Explained all of this to Gloria, in customer service part of the “management team” (which by the way no one knew who she was when addressing this in person) I asked her to consider comping a night’s stay & refunding the waterpark tickets due to all the resort’s failures. I also told her I didn’t even care about the broken hot tub or back door anymore; I just didn’t want to waste more time. She insisted that maintenance had to inspect it before any compensation could be considered. Ps. End of the day never heard back from her at all. No follow up. Nadda.
She didn’t tell me was that because we booked through a 3rd party, compensation wasn’t even possible. Found that out later during the presentation. The waterpark, she claimed it was separate from WG & they only offered rain checks. That turned out to be false.
To top it all off, maintenance tried to cover up the hot tub issue, assuming we didn’t understand Spanish. My husband does & caught them saying they’d put in the system that we hadn’t filled the tub properly. He watched them plug in an air hose right in front of him & it come on. When confronted he said I will put in system the air hose was disconnected is that ok with you? Wow! Just wow.
A dog nearly attacked our 5-year-old in the parking lot. Security came when my son screamed, but they didn’t question the couple, didn’t check for a room key, & didn’t enforce leash rules. Completely unacceptable at a so-called family resort.
We chose Westgate hoping for a fun, family-friendly experience—maybe even to explore buying a timeshare. Instead, we spent our time dealing with chaos, poor communication, & zero accountability. We lost precious time with our kids that we can’t get back.
Everything had to be double-checked. Nothing was smooth. No one truly stepped up to make things right.
As we were leaving to cash in on our arcade tickets… lol what a joke. We spent $70 in the arcade and yes it was fun. As we tried to cash in the inventory was low & some wouldn’t scan. $70 worth of arcade money for nothing.
If you’re considering Westgate for a relaxing family vacation DONT. For us, it was a total letdown, and we will never return.
Milton at Los Amigos deserves a promotion and a raise! Friendly &...

I'll start with the rooms; we stayed in a one bedroom villa and it was like staying in an Air BnB. Two bathrooms, king bed, pull out sofa, full kitchen and a dining table. Good stuff. The website photos are super dated but the room we received was updated; new counters, sofa, bed. It looks visually nice. The second bathroom was pretty small though and had nowhere to put or hang things (not even a towel rack???). The sofa bed smelled bad, musty and sweaty. And wasn't very comfortable, although it's a sofa bed so yoy can't expect much for comfort. The kitchen had a garbage disposal and dishwasher but neither worked very well, and the freezer is supposed to make ice but made a total of 12 cubes our entire 4 day stay (and they don't have ice machines). The living room and bedroom each had a TV, but there are no streaming services; you need to bring a Roku or mirror your phone (Samsung phones only though).
The kitchen was fairly well equipped with place settings for 4, a measuring cup, a very worn frying pan, a few pots, a glass oven dish, some dull knives, plastic cooking utensils, a cutting board, dish soap, a sponge, dishwasher detergent, and trash bags. There is a shared washing machine downstairs and they provided some detergent in the room. The kitchen has a microwave, electric stove, oven, toaster, full fridge, and coffee maker (no coffee provided).
There was oddly a dustpan in the room but no broom to use with it. There was a hair dryer and iron + ironing board.
The resort is huge with dozens of buildings and 14 pools scattered throughout. These pools do not have life guards. They have several on site restaurants as well, and a grocery store. However there is a Walmart nearby so I recommend shopping there and bringing your groceries in.
The main building has a movie theater with scheduled movies, and an arcade. The arcade is rather big, with a section for little kids. There's a ton of claw machines, which were rigged but not as badly as some I've seen; we did win a prize and saw others get a few. The resort has mini golf as well. It wasn't a super exciting course, and it didn't stand up well to the rain. The ground around each hole isn't raised either so prepare for the balls to go flying into the bushes or lake. Nearby there is an activity center with arts and crafts that we didn't get to do.
The actual water park is pretty impressive for a mid price resort. It has a lazy river, a pool with kiddy slides, a jungle gym type structure for kids, and a few adult slides. There's a restaurant and also very expensive liquor. The child in our party had a blast! The hotel provided pool towels in our room but the pools and the water park have bins full of clean towels to take there as well which was very convenient.
The staff are overall friendly, especially those working in the park and arcade. Shoutout to Nicholas at the arcade for helping us give our kiddo a great experience!
The resort has golf cart "buses" for travel but we had no idea where they stopped and what the schedule was so we just drove around, which is fine because there's ample parking.
We stayed mid week and the area around our room was quiet and the park was busy but not overwhelmingly crowded. It was a perfect time to stay and we had a great time. Overall we wish the bedding smelled better (these sofa bed mattresses need cleaning), and that the kitchen equipment was upgraded. The hotel also needs to update their website and include a more thorough list of what is included in the rooms. But for what we paid, we are pretty happy...
Read moreQuick summary Avoid this place at all costs. First and foremost do not ever get a timeshare. Especially with this company. We were verbally told numerous times that we had 30 days to change our mind. Called on day 27 to cancel and told we only had 10 and that we should have remembered what we signed not what we were verbally told multiple times. We were also lied to about several other things. That aside we are now stuck with this. So focusing on the amenities I think for one or two days it was fun. For guests staying several days and multiple years in a row that resort is lacking. It does not offer enough activities for varying ages that are included in the cost or even offered in general. The room was nice nothing special. It lacked extra blankets. Checking in took almost an hour after waiting about 20+ minutes to get through the gate. And I will say it wasn't an oddity that we waited forever to check in the line was constantly long whenever we went by the area. The staff seemed pleasant. I did like the drinks offered at the bar. The "ice skating" was horrendous. Imagine skating on plastic that has been oiled up. That's the best thing I can relate it to. We were so excited for it and it was terrible. The ice cream shop was dated and felt open and empty. The arcade has more than one game that was not available to be played. The mini golf was fun minus that it was very short so we constantly were waiting for other parties to finish playing their hole. If it was lengthened we wouldn't have been on top of another. Also lack of places to sit while waiting our turn to play towards the last holes. We also had to use a minimum amount of our days which was in direct conflict with what we were told when we signed up for the timeshare. The whole experience felt like a wait at a theme park. A lot of waiting around and disappointment for a small amount of enjoyment. I would not recommend this resort. Instead spend your money where they aren't hoping to trick you into a lifetime of unnecessary fees and taxes. Because immediately after checking in they walk you over to the ticket counter where they try to convince you to view the timeshare. Not realizing I was already a regretful owner they tried that tactic as well. And I mean literally walked by a person it wasn't here is your keys thanks for waiting enjoy your room... Instead it was here's someone who wants to take more of your time after waiting in line for an hour with tons of people standing on top of one another. Also if they get you to the timeshare portion. No they did not have a real veteran discount. No they did not have a option available only for that moment if you put x amount down it will be discounted. No you cannot use it to rent as an air BNB and make thousands of dollars a month. And no you can not just use one day here and there and save the rest. I also found out when I finally booked it there was a $150 to use my timeshare per stay ... Waived for the first visit. But what in the world. The whole pitch is a free stay you pay for in advance. It's supposed to be all these things that it is not except a pile of disappointment and people hoping to trick you into taking the hope and joy of family vacations into something warped and no...
