We booked 3 nights during the week, which is surely the slow period for a tourist town like Fredericksburg, and there was some remodeling going on, which was no problem for us. However, the elevator also happened to be out, and we had booked a balcony room overlooking the pool. At the time of check in, we had several suitcases to lug up the stairs, and there was only one gentleman to help us (two older ladies). As I was lugging my suitcase up the stairs and through some construction area in the hall, one of the contractors stopped his work to help me get my suitcase through, and I was so appreciative. We got a remodeled room and it was just beautiful - so clean and smelled new. The pool is a five star unto itself, its huge, with two waterfalls, a splash pad area, a walk around lazy river type area, and a huge hot tub. At night, it is lit up in beautiful colors, and is open from 10a to 10p, great for late night hot tubbing after shopping all day. Breakfast we kept hot and fresh, with plenty of seating, and the front desk staff was always kind. Two blocks from main street, I would not hesitate to stay here again! Well done, Holiday Inn!

I would have given 5 stars except 1) my profile for being a member request my room be far away from the elevator; and this visit, I was 2 rooms away; 2) I do not like the pillows HI Ex uses; no more choices on firmness or no feather pillows. Will have to start bringing my own. 3) The automatic check out program added $6 to our bill for a gift shop that does not exist on sight. I do miss the bar soap. I totally understand why the switch was made to the liquid types now.< The plus side for Holiday Inn Express is always the excellent breakfast buffet. Great selection and coffee to start the day. The A/C unit in the room worked great. This location was great for us because it was a few blocks from Main st. My husband and I enjoy our walks around the area! Thank you.

Overall a good experience and would stay again if needed. The room was clean but had some signs of wear and tear. Nothing that is a deal breaker but you can tell it's not brand new. Refrigerator was a little rusty inside, we still used it. Shower curtain had a hole. The pull out sofa mattress was very flat and probably needs replaced as you roll to the middle. The room was COLD!!! It's rare we're in a hotel that we have to keep turning the temp up it's so cold. Definitely not a complaint in Texas. Breakfast was simple but good and fresh. We did need parking for a trailer and had to park on the street along with other vehicles pulling trailers (we were there for a car show). Again, not a deal breaker but something to be aware of if you're pulling a trailer.

Arrival was simple enough. Elevator centrally located. Heavy padded carpeted hallways make for less noise pollution in your room. Pool View Balcony Room was very nice. King Bed and Reading Chair and lamp with desk with chair that someone loosened the spring and nearly rolled off the back of it when sat down. This room needs a couch. Most of the furniture was utilitarian and not for comfort. Balcony was decent size, outstanding for this price point, and aside from the loose railing had two comfortable outdoor swivel rocking chairs and a small side table. Although the light was a little too dim to enjoy dinner after dark, it was very pleasant. Bathroom was tidy but like so many other accommodations they lack inspection post construction. It is the little things like caulking around the tub floor and exposed plumbing visible while soaking. Just feels slightly unfinished. The pool had a grand vision but fell short of the mark. It was intended to have a short lazy river however the two bridges were too low to float under so it becomes useless. Hot tub was nice and large. Needed attention to the air adjustment knobs. The pool had a beach entrance for the littles and TWO water slides. One in the shallow end for little kids/children and the Second in the deeper, 5’+, end with a large waterfall and grotto with bench seating. Small splash pad with step entrance to pool. The courtyard had two large built in Gas Fire Pits that were very pleasant on a cool late summer night. Overall the stay was great. We witnessed a small incident from the balcony in the pool area regarding the older special needs child of one of the guests. The hotel staff was very attentive as Emergency Services arrived and Transported the person to a medical facility. I spoke with the young man in passing the next day and thankfully he exclaimed that he was ok and thanked me for my concern. Food is the same at most of these. If you’re looking for cheap, breakfast is complimentary. If you’re looking for quality, better hunt around and ask the locals. Only found THREE truly authentic German Restaurants in Fredericksburg. The rest are merely reheat kitchens. Including a “bakery” using a German name that was very misleading. Stay away from the...

Marcee, she may not own the hotel but I tell you she is a pivotal part to making the place shine in my point of view! Then John at night, and Mary followed by Bettina (my aka "BOB" between she & I jokingly about names, haha) seriously all of the team there were unbelievably great in my 4 night stay there in Fredericksburg. Each of them had a part in making the entire trip wonderful for me and my family/crew. I want to say the breakfast spread was amazing each morning, great in variety, and probably best I've had in while. Honestly the rapport began days prior to arrival in me calling to ask questions/confirm reservations & room details on phone w/Marcee (even feeling like garage with brochities that lady smiled and rocked it for me, and when there with me too! Happily. I work in property MGMT myself (30yrs+ in Houston & its suburbs) but I'm an extrovert/never one meeting a stranger and my son just flat out says that I'm EXTRA, but the tram there was 100% always ready to help me with my shopping in the store area like I was al Walmart or HEB, constantly laughing right along with me and all my personality too, all of them with a smile each day, and efficient in doing all I needed for them to help me in doing. I didn't need anything really crazy, but needed to use the computer out in the lobby a few times, to print out financial forms for my personal needs, and Mary helped me with all those things while we just chatted away like we were 2 coworkers work there in an office but only in the lobby, LOL. Then Bettina, she was my heaven sent angel, in getting those forms faxed over to my investment group place from the office fax machine in back! Without that I would have been traveling home less than rich, but still not poor. All I can say is that the team there was fabulous, beginning with Marcee, John over night, the housekeeper who didn't speak much english (but has an amazingly sweet & polite young daughter I met in the hallway who helped me from dropping my everything I was carrying to my room), to Mary, and finally my Bettina too......absolutely a dream team made for enjoyment for me atleast, and I hope for you...

Email I sent manager: My name is Alyssa and I was a guest at your hotel over the weekend. I wanted to speak with you when we were there, but you were already gone on Friday and Sunday they said you weren’t there. Saturday they said you wouldn’t be in until 830, and we had a prior engagement and didn’t arrive back until later that evening. We checked in on Friday, March 14th at around 5pm and left Sunday the 16th around 11am. When we checked in, everything went smoothly, it wasn’t until we walked into the room that I was taken aback. The floor was nasty. There were black hairs, trash, and gum on the floor. There was hair in the tub. It did not look like the floor had been cleaned at all. It makes me question if the room was cleaned at all. After I saw the floor, I went back up to the front desk and spoke to an older lady (who when I arrived was just sitting on her cellphone). I told her that the floor did not look clean and her response was so unhelpful. She said, “Well, there are only two of us at the desk and we won’t have a cleaning person until later. When we have someone I will send them down.” If I was her, I would have gotten the broom and dustpan and cleaned the room for the guest. Anyway, I was irritated so I went back to the room and took pictures. I came back to the front and showed her the pictures. The younger lady was there as well. At least she took the initiative and said she would be down to clean it. The older one was completely useless. After I showed the pictures, the older one said she would speak to you about the incident, but that you wouldn’t do anything anyway because we reserved through a third party. That’s when I asked for your card because I would speak with you anyway because that older lady was absolutely NO help at all. I have attached pictures. We always stay in Holiday Inns because we usually love the staff (which just to clarify, everyone was great except the older lady) and the cleanliness. I was just in shock at this one. Thank you for your time, I look forward to...
