So first & foremost, I want to say I NEVER post “Karen” reviews so this is big for me. My parents, husband, & I come here pretty regularly, we love the food here. However, I am super disappointed in our experience yesterday. Woerner closes at 3 & my mom who just got done with a chemo appointment was actually craving Woerner. Those of you who are familiar with that treatment know how big it is to actually have a craving while going through chemo. & yes, you can visibly tell she is being treated so no, it shouldn’t be too hard to be showing some kindness. We rushed over after her appointment, sitting by 2:40, knowing we had to quickly get our order in. We already knew what we wanted so that wasn’t a problem. The server came out & as my mom was explaining we’ll be in & out & we already know what we want to eat, the server interrupted her asking for drink orders. She skipped taking my dad’s drink order, just rushing through. Comes back out with my mom’s tea, takes our food order, then delivered the food. As she’s delivering the food, obviously rushed again, my dad asked for two boxes (knowing they’d have leftovers & to speed up the process to get out of there). He’s a loud guy, we were the only ones sitting on the patio & he was the only one speaking. She turns her back as he’s asking & continues to walk away, ignoring him & not even checking if everything looked okay. He went to go get the boxes himself after that. I do want to add the food was delivered a little bit before 3. One of our orders was wrong & we weren’t going to complain but she didn’t even come back out to check once we started eating. Towards the end of the meal, her demeanor wasn’t the nicest. Not like it started warm & fuzzy anyway, but it definitely didn’t scream she’d like to keep her customers. I worked in the restaurant industry for 5+ years. Yeah, it can be irritating when people come in before closing, but you are expected to happily serve your customers regardless. You shouldn’t be in the restaurant industry if that’s asking too much. Because of my mom’s situation where it’s already hard to eat & taste food, I’m super disappointed in the service. On top of that, due to inflation, most families have to budget how often & how much they eat out & consider it a blessing to be able to choose somewhere to eat. I won’t be spending it here with this kind of service from...
Read moreWe met up with family at lunch time on a Saturday and couldn't have been more pleased with the food and the overall aesthetic that Woerner's provides. One of the first things you notice is the original warehouse structure and how they took the former and created a functioning restaurant and rustic mercantile out of it. There is dining along the front loading dock that overlooks Lincoln Street and the delicious smells from the kitchen would waft by as you walk up. There is limited parking in the front right off Lincoln Street, however, there is a large shared parking lot behind the restaurant accessible via the side alleyways. There is also a more accessible entrance from the parking lot with a ramp leading into the building. The wait was a little long, but it definitely is worth it. While you are waiting, you are free to peruse the wares (which at the time we visited were some cute notepad, a variety of dishes and utensils, some clothing, and, located throughout the warehouse, furnishings and other decor. A wonderful musician was playing keyboard and singing along at just the right volume to provide good background to the chatter of everyone inside. The menu is reasonably priced for their offerings (think upscale casual dining) and it appears that most of their food and breads are made from scratch. I opted for the Tuscan Cobb Salad which had a very good balance of ruffage to delicious bits (there was plenty of salami and pepperoni, cheese, and other veggies to go along with the lettuce salad base.) Service was good, but because of the overall loud nature of the warehouse full of people, it did seem like the server was tired or annoyed of having to explain certain menu options to those in our group who are hard of hearing. That didn't really affect the experience. Woerner's is not requiring masks to be worn by patrons or staff (which from our experience was alright because before seating there is plenty of room to remain socially distant from others.) The also offer 2 universal restrooms instead of separate...
Read moreProbably the rudest waitress I have ever had was at this restaurant. I came by myself for lunch and I asked for my water and coffee in a to go cup, as I didn't plan to spend much time at the restaurant as I was on a lunch break. The waitress comes back after getting my water and says "so are you ready?" I order a sandwich and soup, and she says "okay so half a sandwich" and i ask for the full sandwich and she scoffs and says "okay....". Before ordering the soup, I ask what chips there are and she responds, "they're just a bag of chips"....okay, got that, wasn't what I was asking, but okay, I'll have the soup then. After being told very condescendingly the soup of the day, I thank her and she walks away. I am on my phone since I am alone and on a work break, and when I am brought my food it is shoved in my face without giving me the opportunity to move out of the way, so I apologize. After this, she does not come back until about 30 minutes after I've finished eating, and then does not bring the check for another 10 minutes. All this while she is speaking kindly and smiling at other guests she was serving, and ignoring my smile and wave to her as I needed to get back to work. I don't really understand if I did something to upset her, but I am a generally kind and an almost overly apologetic person so I am not sure what I could have done. I really feel bad about not leaving a tip for her, but I have genuinely never had someone that rude to me in any restaurant I've been to. Spending $22 for a coffee, sandwich, and soup that didn't even fill me and to be talked to unkindly was really not a highlight. I intentionally go to local businesses when I am in smaller towns visiting from San Antonio, and this was not a...
