We were sent here by IHG after a purchase. Our stay was the end of July. I was told a king bed for just my husband and I which makes perfect sense with there being only 2 of us. When we arrived we were actually put in the middle building ( there are 3 separate buildings & types ) in room 240 Balcony room on the river (water levels depend on rain), which was 2 Queen beds. This didn't make a difference to us, but perhaps a family would have liked to have the room if none were available ( Common Sense & Good Business ).Lilly checked us in. Very friendly, good customer service skills and actually a smile. In this building there is no elevator. But on one end there is a ramp beside the SMALL POOL which has a small slide and is geared for children. No hot tub. The pool is pretty small and cold. I'd say this Hotel/ Motel (feel) is geared toward families with young children. And people who wish to be in the middle of The Gatlinburg Strip. You are within walking distance of most all they have to offer. Unless you plan on going to Pigeon Forge or elsewhere, don't waste time on the trolley "waiting", while you can just walk to it. Save on parking fees and stay parked at the hotel.
The yellow cones and poles you actually move them to park. This is so visitors don't park here. Parking is quite FULL. So the room itself seemed clean and plenty of room for even a family of 4. There is a luggage bench only 2 chairs though. I'd use the bench if there were 4 of us. A microwave, small refrigerator, a keurig single cup coffee maker, and hair dryer. We always check the beds, which were clean, the undercover was torn. Thin walls. Slamming doors.
The AC was directly next to the bed which with flipping the beds to the opposite side of the room could fix the issue of the AC blowing straight in your face, or if they put different vents on it to adjust towards the end of the bed.
I would like to mention that the hand sanitizer placed at the door is just for looks. I let them know shortly after check in that it was EMPTY. And 3 other times after that. Upon check out it was still empty on day 4.
There is no Door latch that most hotels have for extra security. There was a metal plate on the frame doorway, so not sure if there was a latch before or not.
The tub did not have any grab bars or handrails at all. Not even anything to hang a wash cloth. So be very careful getting in and out of the tub.Bring your own shampoo/conditioner, the sample size will not last a day.
The very small fitness center, well, not sure how old the equipment is. And the treadmills are turned off completely, you can not just hook up and go. Maybe a couple of towels. The carpet was stained and inside here was dirty. They do have 1 restroom inside here. It looks to be an old "room" that they didn't take the time to properly think this through. It is located on the ground floor of the garage building.
Now " Breakfast". They may as well say continental breakfast. I know some will see cereal and muffins as plentiful, But seriously? Cereal, oatmeal, cottage cheese, "canned fruit", yogurt, toast, powered eggs, and biscuits and soupy gravy. Milk, coffee and juice. No FRESH fruit. No Meat. No potatoes. No waffle maker or pancake maker. Again , NO MEAT. We tried this the first morning, and it was the only morning we did. We drove 5 minutes up the road to Flapjack's Pancake Cabin 478 East Parkway, Gatlinburg, Tn. 37738. So worth it! Affordable. The dining area is extremely small. If they made minimal improvements, they really could be a great hotel for people who wish to be in the mix of Gatlinburg.
This is for families who wish to be within walking distance of most of Gatlinburg. This is NOT anything considered a Quiet place to vacation. People who live off of fast food, too much sugar. Nothing healthy. We are middle aged with 5 children of our own. There are better options (for us). The staff all were friendly, including the maintenance. This was not the Hotel for us. I don't expect a response from Management. It wasn't a...
Read moreI forgot to take photos before we moved in for the week but these are our checkout photo minus the bathroom ones but I’ll give details on the bathroom in our room in my review.
First off we have never stayed here although I’ve always wanted to sometime.
I read reviews. Positive ones negative ones and ones in between.
So with the info from those I called and got ahold of Lindsey.
I asked her straight forward questions of things that concerned me from negative reviews and she was so kind and sweet and she even address those and gave her explanation. I told her my biggest concern is it being noisy and having a hard time sleeping which would ruin a trip. I asked her point blank and asked her to be honest with me not to get me to rent but in hopes we have a great vacation even if it’s turning us away. Her response helped me to feel more confident in reserving. She suggested an option and I asked for her suggesting if we went to building B vs C and she said what she would recommend based on our conversation of concerns. So booked the room and canceled reservations we had elsewhere.
Upon arrival the staff was absolutely kind and welcoming. We was checked into the room we had specifically reserved and given the info for the hotel.
Unloading was the most awkward with parking. We take a lot of things and was thinking there was an elevator but there wasn’t. But a nice ramp in building B. C has an elevator and I don’t know about A wasn’t over there.
Maintenance come over and spoke to us and kindly let us know if we need anything they are around 24/7
Our room was perfect. Zero complains. It was clean the halls was clean and taken care of and cannot complain at all.
Small coffee makers with pots that you can bring your own coffee with filters no Keurig which is a plus for us. Small fridge with a small freezer area which was perfect for my ice packs.
I do see where people do not like the placement of the AC unit and posted photos of that complaint. For us only being two of us it was no issue we all. Flipping the beds around would have been a way to solve that but it was good for us.
Thankful we couldn’t hear Margaritaville when our door was shut. I imagine if their pool was opened it would be worse on the balcony but that’s just an assumption. That would make me nervous during pool season for light sleepers as their music was on when we got up and went to bed.
The beds was perfect not too soft not too hard and bedding was comfortable.
Bathroom had a tub it’s good pressure shower water. Don’t need soap to get the stink off with that wonderful pressure but we did still use soap lol
Toilets are tall which may be helpful to people who needs tall toilets.
Sink is not too small not too large. Some complain of its size. We managed well. We used the over the toilet shelves to accommodate more of our things. Maybe cause it was just two adults and not a family it made it easier. I don’t know but it worked perfectly for us. They have soaps lotion and shampoos also a hair dryer.
Full length mirror outside of the bathroom so you could use the desk for extra space if bathroom isn’t enough
There is a small closet with your iron ironing board.
The pool wasn’t open for the season but looks like it would be really nice.
Breakfast we only had one morning there. It was okay. Could use some variety. Peaches was weird. Biscuits and gravy was good. Everything was clean and well maintained.
Parking is the worst thing but it’s because people have no sense and park at the hotel that isn’t guests causing issues so they have to close off all the spaces for you to move or have someone move the cones or barriers. So it’s nice they do try to protect your parking spaces.
Nice walk to everything and we hope to get to stay again in the future and same room would even be better.
One of the best stays we have had in the Smoky Mountains. We enjoyed the river view from the balcony and all the wildlife we seen. Blue Heron, Groundhog, ducks, geese and snake all from the balcony. Wonderful seeing the sunrise over...
Read moreConveniently located right next door to the Ripley's Aquarium and within walking distance to tons of other attractions. I was worried about the multiple levels and no elevator as mentioned in one review prior to our visit, however, there is an elevator. Plus, in the third building, which we stayed in, that has five levels, each level has its own parking garage where you can park just steps from your room. We literally had six steps from our door to our car. The room was on the smaller size for the price, but the location more than made up for that. The room was very clean upon arrival. The second day we stayed we were missed by housekeeping. We slept in until ten, late night at the Island in Pigeon Forge with the kids. We had the 'do not disturb' sign out until around 11 am when we left to eat at Ole Red's for lunch. We put the sign back inside the room and figured they would get us as they were on the floor cleaning as we were leaving. Around 5 or 6 pm, when we returned from lunch and other fun, we discovered we had been missed. We called the front desk and they immediately sent someone up with towels and to take out trash. He was very apologetic and kind. He quickly took care of the room and we left for more fun. Our kids loved the pool, especially our son who was young enough for the water slide, 13 and under only. Breakfast was really good. The food was freshly made. Seating was a bit tight. Our kids were disappointed that there wasn't one of their personal preferences for hotel breakfast, a waffle maker, but they survived on cereal and powdered donut holes. Aside from that there was biscuits, gravy, toast, cottage cheese, pineapples, yogurt and oatmeal. I ate well with what was offered; my husband said he'd have loved a breakfast meat 🥓 of some sort. If you aren't in the main building or the second building breakfast is a bit of a walk. We made sure that we were ready for other outings when going to eat breakfast...minis the day we overslept and missed breakfast. As for the room air conditioning was rough during the night. There was one of the small wall units. I was either freezing or sweating all night. On the third night I decided to turn the air way down and just freeze over the temperature changes. Also, definitely make sure you run the bathroom fan when showering and afterwards. It gets very humid in the whole room, not just restroom if you don't. I do suggest a sound machine or app on your phone for sleeping, you do get traffic noise, which wasn't too bad until Friday evening, which had sirens like crazy, tons of loud trucks and off road vehicle noises that at times seemed to be in the room with you. I quickly downloaded an app and was able to get to sleep around 1am. The balcony was quaint. It had two plastic patio chairs and a matching plastic table. I enjoyed watching some wildlife (ground hogs and geese) from the balcony. The river was small but ran right behind our room. Some parts of the building we were in didn't have a direct view of the river, but a sideways view. Overall it was a wonderful stay, we would consider staying here for future trips to Gatlinburg and the...
