i VERY rarely leave an immediate review. But this cute, charming, and extremely convenient inn deserves it. Sorry, but this will be somewhat lengthy, simply because the place deserves every accolade in this class and price point.
To begin, the online reservation-to-check in process was seamless. No hidden fees or other surprises.
The room: now, look - this is not the most modern inn or motel. It also isn't ancient - it's kind of what one might expect in terms of architecture, decor, and so on. It is slightly dated, but hey - you're in GETTYSBURG! Having said this, however...
The proprietors AND staff could not earn a higher mark from myself, and i've been to Gettysburg about seven times since the beginning of the autumn past (2023). They very obviously take great pride in this place and understand the value in providing excellent upkeep, CLEANING, and service.
Even as, was stated, the decor is not terribly modern, the rooms are homey, cozy, and again, VERY clean. The floor was spotless. The bathroom was immaculate. No pests in the bed, nor anywhere else.
No cracks. No mold. No dust or debris. The water was hot. The thermostat was newer, with an updated wall control panel.
i was literally stunned at the level of upkeep. All the staff deserve five stars here, no exaggerating!
The real value here is that this stretch of Steinwehr Avenue, an essential stretch of shops and restaurants off-downtown, has plenty of other budget options.
DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THEM.
They are known far and wide to range between not-so-clean to downright filthy. There are always somewhat less-than-desirable folks hanging around outside of them. They all are reputed to have rooms which reek of stale cigarette smoke. Do NOT even consider these places. Book HERE.
As far as my personal knitpicks: no slamming of doors in the morning (they did put polite and prudent signs on common access doors). And yes, there's the most necessary mini-fridge!! PLUS some perks you might not even get at more expensive places: Keurig-style in-room coffeemaker, hairdryer, PLUS, there's even an iron and ironing board 🫨!
To finish - and this was what prompted my immediate review, even as i'm allowing my waffle to slowly get cool - the free breakfast was far beyond expectations (see pics). The scrambled eggs and roasted potatoes were made in house and DELICIOUS. There was also the standard Belgian waffle machine, which worked flawlessly. And to finish, a machine dispensing real and fresh OJ and cranberry juice. i simply couldn't believe it.
So, with this all said, i'm going to finish my yummy, homemade breakfast and then go find an ATM so i can leave the housekeepers a tip - even though i went a bit over budget during this seventh stay here in my beloved Gettysburg.
A very, very heartfelt THANK YOU to all at the Inn. i will...
Read moreI spent two nights at the Inn at Cemetery Hill while visiting Gettysburg. I wanted a hotel that was within walking distance of many Gettysburg attractions. This hotel definitely met that goal. It is a simple inn that made my two night stay enjoyable. I slept just as well at the inn as I do at home. Beds were comfortable.
The staff were customer-oriented and friendly from the moment of my arrival to departure. The cleaning staff did an excellent job cleaning my room during the visit.
The room was very clean. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom and body wash and shampoo was restocked daily. The refrigerator was located behind the door of the television stand. There is no microwave in the room. Cable television and free wifi are available in each room. Pets are welcome at the inn for an additional fee.
Breakfast was very simple but filling. There were two waffle machines, yogurt, Cheerios and Raisin Bran cereal, English muffins, bagels and a pre-packaged sandwich. Coffee and juice. The dining area had seven small tables. Breakfast was served from 6:30 to 10:00 a.m.
Numerous cafes, coffee shop and small restaurants are located across the street and up and down the block. The inn is located on the same block as the Gettysburg National Cemetery. I walked to many places on that side of town.
Bottom Line: If you are looking for a simple hotel stay within walking distance of many attractions, I highly recommend the Inn at Cemetery Hill. If you are looking for a lot of amenities, I would look...
Read moreOf all the places I have stayed across the US, the Inn at Cemetery Hill is the hands down winner! Location: locals call Steinwahr street "the strip" for a good reason. Once you decide to stretch your legs you will notice every bit of shopping, dining and places of greatest interest is within 300 yards of this hotel. Service: you will never meet nicer and more accommodating people than you will here. Every time we walk through the lobby it is like we have been neighbors in a farming community. The entire staff feels like they are family and you're their honored guest! The complementary fancy coffee station and filtered water bottle refill station in the lobby means they want you to feel treated special and it is always kept perfectly clean. The room we stayed in was pet friendly and clean as a hospital surgery center. There were so many special touches such as washcloths folded as hearts and baskets of toiletries. Just a wonderful stay and I will never stay anywhere else but here when I am...
