Wife loves crepes. Drove to Gettysburg from Frederick to try this place. Early so I got the BLT, and she the Scramble it up. Also got the Blueberry Blast to try a sweet/savory. Got a lg coffee and a lg iced tea. Prices were $12, $12, $10, and a little over $4 each for the drinks. You order at the counter. There's a tip jar and always a place to add a tip if you pay by CC. Now I'm a softy and always tip 20% if the service is good, so even without table service, I did tip 20% at a total of almost $60. We did sit inside and picked up our food at the counter, which isn't far away because it's small inside, but they do have outside seating. Don't know if they take orders out to these seats. Staff was very pleasant, nice and friendly. The Crepes were very good. We both ate ours and took most of the sweet one to go. NOW, the 3 star rating. The drinks. The lg Iced tea is the size of a small at most places, fresh brewed or not, and $4+ is steep for coffee anywhere you're buying it with a meal. What really didn't sit well was after ordering/picking up our food AND BUSSING the table, AND TIPPING 20% when I asked for a refill on the coffee and iced tea to take with us, she charged me another almost $10, and reused the already "to go" plastic/paper cups we were served with to begin with. So I ended up spending almost $70 on 3 crepes, iced tea, coffee, and 1 refill on each, waited on myself, bussed my own table, and drove to...
Read moreI will start by saying there are two parts to this review. The first is the taste of the food, the second is about food safety. First the food is absolutely delicious and deserves five stars. Second, however, it is NOT safe for anyone with celiac disease or gluten allergy. The owner/manager assured me she had other celiac customers and claimed the gluten was "burned off" of the shared device they use to make the crepes (gluten and their "gluten free"). That is false. You can not burn off gluten. Google it if you want. The owner/manager was rude and insulting and made me feel very uncomfortable about even questioning her food. I gave her the benefit of the doubt anyway. Wish I hadn't. The woman who actually made the crepes was wonderful and kind and she thanked us for trusting her. I don't blame her, she was great and just doing her job. Unfortunately, I got very sick soon after eating there. I have celiac disease and its more than just having an upset stomach. I understand businesses don't want to turn customers away but you risk losing more customers if you lie about your food and put others at serious risk. I will end with saying that if you have no health, allergies or other food issues then by all means try everything on the menu because it...
Read moreI was excited to see this new place open. The good: service was quick. There are a fair number of choices, including vegan and vegetarian. They have good ice cream and some baked items. Staff seems friendly. The not so good: very pricey for what you get, refrigerated hothouse tomatoes, in Summer no less! (try going to one of the local farm markets), A caprese salad crepe-nice idea, but it was chopped tomatoes with a balsamic glaze on top-no basil! Really? Ham was sour with not much flavor. Most sweet crepes looked VERY sugary, marshmallow+syrup+sugar+chocolate, way too much. I suggest simpler is better, such as apricot jam maybe with cottage cheese in the Hungarian style or even strawberry jam. But the real issue I have is that the crepe itself was just BARELY cooked. Traditional crepes are lightly or even moderately browned say 30-50%. These were 0% browned. I think their griddle wasn't hot enough. Bottom line, if you are looking for some quick cheap eats, go elsewhere. Now, this place has enough potential that I will return and report back...
