(Edit of previous 5-star review) We just finished our 2nd stay here, 3 days this time. Briefly, it’s a new facility in a great location, & the price is right. Unfortunately, you have to put up with an amateur staff & absurd policies, and very poor communication skills. We reserved the room on a different card than we were going to pay with, and I asked to make sure that the reserving card would not be charged. They assured me it would only be used to hold the room. You guessed it - they charged the card. I wasted half a vacation day getting this fixed, since no one at the hotel knew how. After becoming the middle-man, we finally got it figured out, but not before the “manager” Kelly told me I should have known they would charge my card after 4:00. Of course, how silly of me not to do an in-depth research first... To Kelly’s credit, she did get on it immediately once I provided her with instructions. By 4:30 the next day my funds were released. Speaking of Kelly - she overheard my frustration while trying to communicate with this guy at the front desk and came out to “help.” She knew we were having multiple issues, and decided that her best course of action was to be rude. She kept interrupting me until it became necessary for me to raise my voice and demand that she let me finish what I was saying. She was very unprofessional. Called the front desk for extra blankets but they didn’t come. No answer when I called back & no one to be found at the front desk. Hotels usually bill your card when you check out - these people take their money at check-in. We planned for that amount, but they could have let us know. What if... ?? They also add an additional charge to cover “incidentals.” We travel a lot & understand that most hotels leave your bill “open” until check-out, when they present you with your final bill/receipt. Again, not here. They assured us the charge would drop off. We are still waiting. The “Sky Breakfast” on the 3rd Floor offers a great view of some of the battlefield. The food is very typical hotel fare - no surprises here one way or the other. It was worth the price... In short: this is a poorly run but nice new property, open just a few months. With so many other choices in and around Gettysburg, we won’t choose this place again. We come here to escape aggravation -...
Read moreI am currently staying here for a few more days. I booked this hotel because the reviews were good, it had an indoor pool, breakfast and was only a year old. Would I stay here again? Maybe. After taxes, our week stay was around $1000. I booked before Christmas. Here's my thoughts on this hotel. The pros: Very clean, staff is absolutely amazing, breakfast is phenomenal, parking is good, photography around the building and in the rooms is wonderful, (the photographer should be commended), nice little buffet area in the room with small coffee pot (not Keurig), microwave, fridge and drawers and cabinets, there's even and ironing board! The front desk area is very comfortable and welcoming. Very good location, can walk to a lot. The key cards for getting into the rooms are really cool. You just tap the door lock thingy and it unlocks. The cons: Pool is tiny, very tiny, the rooms are not as big as I had hoped, or as big as other hotels we have stayed in. The main focus of this place is "battlefield view from breakfast area, pool and the small gym" honestly the pool and gym are on ground level and as you walk along the side walk outside you can see people getting in and out of the pool, (rotund folks such as myself DO NOT enjoy that. You cant see the battlefield from inside the pool at all so that kind of defeats the purpose. While eating breakfast you don't really pay attention to the battlefield because it's so busy and slightly cramped in there that you hope not to spill anything or bump anyone. There is only 1 elevator, but it goes fairly quickly. The closets in the room need oiled pretty bad. We didn't use ours because it was so loud that I didn't want to disturb other guests, (the floors and walls seem to be pretty thin, but...
Read moreStayed one night here on a weekend. The room was basic. The hotel is new sovit was clean but nothing about it stands out about it. We paid for the room with a view of the battlefield, before you make the same mistake look at the photo I took. From my room I got a great view of another hotel and a small view of the side of a field next to the cemetary. But to even see that I had to move furniture out of the way. We were going to use the gym before we realized that it is at the front of the hotel with windows facing the street and sidewalk, no privacy at all. The same is true for the pool. The breakfast upstairs is about what you can expect from any hotel, waffles, eggs, toast. Once again nothing special. I did have a bad problem with noise in the hotel. The room walls are very thin and I could hear the elevator go up and down from my room that was well away from the elevator. I also had to deal with teenage kids partying about four rooms down from me. I understand that the hotel can't stop everything, but their inability to even attempt to handle the problem was disturbing. The next morning I asked to talk to a manager about the noise issue that lasted till midnight and was told no manager was on duty for the weekend. When I insisted they call one the manager said that she would deal with the problem when she came back to work three days later. I would not recommend to stay here if you have any other options. The motel across the street has a much better view of the battlefield and...
