Please do not respond to me, I do not wish to argue, I am only making this review to let people know I do not recommend patronizing this establishment. This is my personal opinion based on the wares which are sold and the message perpetuated by said wares. There is nothing that could be said to change my mind, and I mean no ill will to anyone, I only want to make potential customers, tourists not knowing what to expect, aware of the values of this establishment.
Dear potential customers, please be aware that the preservation and expansion of slavery were enshrined in the Confederate constitution as the aim of secession, as well as in the respective constitutions of each Confederate state. Those who do not know this may have a strongly held belief that the war was about the rights of states. To this I say, the rights of states to do what? To secede? No one secedes merely for the sake of seceding. It was about slavery, though this was not the only reason, it was a significant reason. Reading Confederate constitutions and primary sources make this clear. I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I do not think I can change anyone's deeply held convictions, I simply want to make those like-minded to myself aware of the values of this establishment and of my non-recommendation thereof, which is based on my personal feeling, which I do not claim to be correct, or the only valid way to feel. Please do not be unkind to this establishment or its patrons, or seek strife over differing values, simply avoid patronizing establishments you do not agree with, but do not seek to harm anyone. I do not endorse anyone who seeks to bring harm to any other person...

Edit: In response to the owner’s comment, I clearly started that the employee was taking part in the conversation about politics, which I find extremely distasteful. I also stated that I understand differences in opinions. But the employee shouldn’t be engaging in that conversation. It makes you look bad. So with that on top of being ignored, my rating still stands.
When we entered the store, the one employee greeted other customers and looked at us and said nothing, I’m assuming because we were the only ones wearing masks. Then, the employees and some customers were very loudly discussing politics and saying ignorant things about the current President, as well as the Vice President. I understand differences in opinion, but how rude and disrespectful to talk about things like that in front of other customers. This is just an aside, but one of the middle aged men talking thought Obama could run again and didn’t even know a President can only do two terms and can never run again. People like that shouldn’t even be allowed to discuss politics. Anyway, this was a terrible experience in this store and we will never be back and I will make sure to tell others not...
Read moreEDIT TO ADD 10/21/22 Since they decided to answer three years later, here I am too. Unless there was an older lady manager or a team lead with a key to the store at the time, the person who very rudely told me not to take pictures was saying those things while she was opening the door and slammed it. Also, they ignored me many times when I asked if she was the owner. So, if that was not you, I'm hoping your selection of customer service representatives has changed. I took my business elsewhere and was very pleased with their service and the history questions I had, since I am not an American. Thank you for your reply three years later.
Oh, and I am 1000% sure it was your store. I remember admiring the flowers on the railing and that's when I saw the flags around it and started to take pictures and the rude person came.
I havent even been inside and got the rudest attitude from the owner. I dont understand why the owner of this place called me out on taking pictures of a HISTORIC place. I asked if she was the owner and she completely ignored me and slammed the door. I'll be back when the doors open and give a better review if...
