Please do not respond to me, I do not wish to argue, I am only making this review to let people know I do not recommend patronizing this establishment. This is my personal opinion based on the wares which are sold and the message perpetuated by said wares. There is nothing that could be said to change my mind, and I mean no ill will to anyone, I only want to make potential customers, tourists not knowing what to expect, aware of the values of this establishment.

Dear potential customers, please be aware that the preservation and expansion of slavery were enshrined in the Confederate constitution as the aim of secession, as well as in the respective constitutions of each Confederate state. Those who do not know this may have a strongly held belief that the war was about the rights of states. To this I say, the rights of states to do what? To secede? No one secedes merely for the sake of seceding. It was about slavery, though this was not the only reason, it was a significant reason. Reading Confederate constitutions and primary sources make this clear. I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I do not think I can change anyone's deeply held convictions, I simply want to make those like-minded to myself aware of the values of this establishment and of my non-recommendation thereof, which is based on my personal feeling, which I do not claim to be correct, or the only valid way to feel. Please do not be unkind to this establishment or its patrons, or seek strife over differing values, simply avoid patronizing establishments you do not agree with, but do not seek to harm anyone. I do not endorse anyone who seeks to bring harm to any other person...

So far I have a good impression. I'll update for sure once I receive my shaving kit. I ordered it on Amazon and these folks are the 3rd party seller. Fingers crossed. Update*

• Poor quality craft. Hinges were beat up and should never have been installed. Fell apart after 3 openings. They could have used wire and it would have held better. It was missing the main selling point, the horn comb. The brush is not silver tip, it is faux badger hair and is more corse than my hands. Not usable in water rather as the glue comes apart and the hair falls out trying to perform a warm shave. The claim of "teak" is an absolute bold faced lie. This is pine. Lol. Blows my mind, but that's why they sell on Amazon. Because they can't hold up what they sell. This was 5 stars, now it's zero. The razor is a extremely cheap and terrible product. No strop can make it shave well as it's not sharp enough. The box was made from scrap lumber and the stain on it immediately comes off with water. This is a shaving kit that gets ruined by water. Makes no sense at all. I mean, come on people?!

I rarely have to leave a zero star rating, but this is necessary.

Sorry, but you're getting a three

I've been coming to Gettysburg for years, and have bought all of my souvenirs at this shop and this shop only. Whoever was working was always friendly, upbeat, helpful, and talkative; it was enjoyable to be there.

This year there was a younger girl working in the evenings. I walked in and she was sitting down playing on her phone. She never looked up to acknowledge me, or gave any indication that she even knew I was there. I probably could have stolen from the counter in front of her and gotten away with it. Do I expect a conversation? No... but a simple hello would have been acceptable.

Maybe this is a stupid and minor complaint, but when you sell the same trinkets sold in every other shop in town, you need to set yourself apart. It use to be that friendly...
