Wow, my mouth is happy. I just finished some absolutely delicious Dan Dan Noodles, plus a few dumplings and some broth (don't judge, I was hungry). This place just open last week and every member of my family is already a fan. The space is spotless, sleek and comfortable and you can still see a little of the ghosts of Rubio's (which was in that spot a few years ago). The food is amazing. All cooked to order and the noodles are made in house! For the Dan Dan, I was given a choice of the skinny noodles or the wide noodles. I opted for the wide, which were chewier and similar to pappardelle. Nice flavor intensity and just a bit of heat. The dumplings, also made in house, had a nice pork and cabbage filling. The broth packed a flavor punch (I was told it has about 30 herbs and spices in it). Next time, I'll be ordering a whole bowl of the noodle soup. The menu is small for now while they figure out the local preferences but reflect dishes from western and northern China. The owners are very friendly. You can see their pride in the food they are making as they smile when they bring it to your table. This will be my weekly spot to visit.
Came back again. This time I tried the delicious, addictive Classic Beef Noodle soup. Reminds me of some of the great noodle places in LA's Chinatown.
June '20: So thrilled that they have reopened after a short hiatus due to the pandemic. My whole family missed their food while they were closed. You can now dine in (with good spacing) or get take out (like we do at least once a week). We've branched out to the Spicy Potatoes with Pork; Pork meatballs (filled with egg and a magical 5-spice, I think, sauce); and Homestyle Eggplant. Mmm, mmm.
January '21: They are still here and delicious as ever. We get a serious craving for these dishes every week or two. By now, we've tasted about half the menu. It is hard to try new stuff when what we've had is so delicious. Check out the spicy potatoes with pork, Serrano chicken and the...
Read moreI was excited to try Noodles Express, after people online mentioned it was closing and is a “must try” in Denver. We were disappointed.
We had the Dan Dan noodles and compared to pictures from other customers, ours did not have the portion of ingredients that the other dishes show. It was mostly dry ramen noodles for $18.
The spicy beef dish was also pretty disappointing. The beef was chewy and did not have as much beef as one would expect for $23. While I know this dish typically a large amount of chili oil and more from fat rendered through boiling the beef, it was too much. I was straining the beef on every bite to avoid a stomach ache. I regret that I did not take pictures to verify my claims but I trusted the overwhelming number of positive reviews before eating. We received one small cup of rice, while the other couple next to us received several for 2 dishes. Perhaps they paid extra, but I just expected more food considering the price.
I admittedly have a large appetite but left hungry for ~$50. Just putting this out there for others that have been persuaded to try this place by reviews and recommendations. I love authentic Szechuan food but for the price this spot simply does not meet...
Read moreWas super excited to try a new place. I should have walked out once I walked in. The place smelled old and uncleaned. We placed our order i ordered sesame chicken with white rice and order of crab cheese wonton. My manager ordered pork noodles and egg rolls vegetables. The food for one was way too hot. Took forever to cool enough to eat it. The pork or lack there of had 4 tiny pieces of meat. Once my boss stirred the noodles, there was nothing way too many mushrooms, and the noodles were so mushy. The egg rolls were all cabbage! My sesame chicken was ok. rice tasted like the restaurant smelled, and the wontons were impossible to chew. In all honesty, I didn't hear dishes or pans clanking in the kitchen. I'm 100% sure all the food was microwaved! Now that I think about it....from the time the waitress walked back with our order to the time it was on our table was about 8 minutes. Snap! NEVER AGAIN! The worst part is my manager complained, and the waitress said $28.73, gave her her total! Waste of my hard earned cash! Between my boss and myself, we spent almost $60 just to feel sick and hour later!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY DO NOT...
