Unfortunately (fortunately?) I cannot comment on a full stay here because they chose not to honor my reservation.
My wife and I bought a new house in Greeley. We were moving out of our townhome on Feb 4 and taking possession of our new house on Feb 5. Because of this we booked a one-night stay at the Fairfield Inn.
After many, many long days of finishing packing and getting things ready for the movers to load, we left Denver with our son on the afternoon of Feb 4 and arrived at the Fairfield Inn, exhausted and hungry, around 3pm.
I had already completed the online check-in process via the Bonvoy app the day before so I expected to be able to just pick up keys at the front desk.
As we pulled into the parking lot we saw two Greeley police cars parked immediately out front. We walked into the lobby as one of the officers was talking with the front desk agent. He was saying something like "yeah, I arrested her before for drugs ..." The agent responded that she had seen her around a bunch of times. We stood off to the side while they concluded their business and the police left.
I told the agent that I was checking in and gave my last name. She said that one of the two rooms had been cancelled. I said that it shouldn't be, we needed two rooms. The agent said that it wasn't a problem, she could reinstate the second room. But then she said that there were no king beds available that night. I said that was going to be a problem as we were used to sleeping in a king bed. She said that she would give us two double queen rooms and wouldn't even charge us extra. I explained that to someone who is used to sleeping in king bed that a double queen room is actually a downgrade. She started saying that their general manager had just walked out the other day and left them high and dry and that things were in disarray, rooms weren't in service that were supposed to be and the scheduling was a mess. She also said that they were supposed to get a new general manager who was supposed to arrive that day, but hadn't. I said that I would have to look into another property.
Now, that was fun. Apparently the hotel wanted to charge me a cancellation fee. I explained that I wasn't cancelling, they were cancelling. I said that I wouldn't cancel, all they had to do was honor the reservation. They couldn't.
After an hour on the phone with Marriott customer service, they forced the cancellation through without a fee and booked me at the Springhill Suites in Windsor. Fortunately my awesome wife stopped and picked up Chick-fil-a on the way back because we were starving by this point having not eaten since breakfast.
I contacted Marriott after this just to share my experience and my email was routed to Jennifer at the property management company that runs this hotel. She was full of excuses:
We oversell our rooms ... Really? What does an online check-in do then? And are you telling me that everyone had checked into rooms by 3pm? Or was it that your scheduling was a mess? What is interesting is that at 6am on the morning of Feb 4 I received 7 confirmation emails for the 2 king room reservation, with the original confirmation number. Those are only generated when someone is making a change to the reservation. Maybe trying to change my reservation to queen beds? Because then I received 2 confirmation emails with a different confirmation number for ONE double queen room. Definitely sounds like something shady was going on at the hotel.
The police often stop at hotels looking for people ... Really? I stay in hotels all the time and don't encounter this sort of thing. Maybe they only stop at hotels where criminals are more likely to be found. Hmmmm.....
Thanks for basically blowing me off, Jennifer. You definitely made me feel like absolutely nothing will be changed at this hotel because your property management company, Ambridge Hospitality, really...
Read moreI arrived early to Colorado, because I drove 24 hours straight. I asked if I could check in a day early, but since it is a work trip, I need to keep my invoices separate. I also have almost half a million points and wanted to charge my room to points. I knew I had to do it through the app, but I wanted to ask the front desk first about being able to stay in the same room, instead of having to switch after my one personal night from the work nights. The front desk agent charged my work card on file even after I emphasized that I couldn't do that. STRIKE ONE.
I knew the guy was new, so I wanted to give him a break and see if the person in the morning could help me out. The person in the morning told me he could take it off my work card, but could not charge me by points. I had to give him my personal card just to prevent having my work card charged. STRIKE TWO.
The reason why I'm writing this review at almost two in the morning is because I can't sleep.
I admit I'm a light sleeper, but the noise in this hotel is ridiculous. It seems like I can hear any activity that goes on above me.
With that said, I was supposed to be here for two months and asked for a top-floor room when I arrived. I was told no top-floor rooms were available during the entirety of my stay. I find that hard to believe, so I just called the front desk from my mobile phone and discovered there are rooms available on the top floor.
It is not the hotel's fault that the pertain above me just took a really loud 42 minute shower; yes, I was looking at the clock, but it is their fault that I'm in this situation. There is so much noise going on above me right now that I can't sleep. STRIKE THREE.
Mind you, I don't want to be the person that pulls that card, but I'm an Ambassador Elite member. If I'm treated this poorly, I can't imagine how they treat other guests.
-Poor facility.
-Friendly staff, but definitely not well trained, so not their fault, but management's.
Good location, but not good enough for me to stay. I just made a reservation at another hotel and will be checking out of this one in the morning. My coworkers may be following suit.
Unfortunately, not a satisfactory representative of the Marriott brand. I'm very surprised they are able to keep their flag.
Now, that the noise has subsided somewhat, I may try to get some sleep since I'll have to get up early...
Read moreI was in town with two other co-workers for a conference. Stayed 3 nights. Breakfast was decent. Dining area is nice and tidy. Plenty of parking. Front desk personnel was courteous. No issues with hotel and service. But I believe the hotel might be haunted. We all had our own rooms. I stayed in room 107. TV was at full blast each time I turned it on. On 2nd day, came in the room and it was facing the window. Throughout the whole stay, I felt as if someone was in the room watching me. I can usually sleep in the dark, but in this room I couldnât and I could not sleep facing the window. The lamp next to the bed is too bright to use as a night light. There was another lamp on the desk across the room. Tried to turn it on and the bulb sparked and popped. It was out. So I turned the light on by the door, that light has a softer tone. I was able to sleep. One of my co-workers had a room on the 2nd floor. She also felt something was with her, but we couldnât explain the feeling. 2nd day, she walked in and her tv was on, but it was just static on the tv. Hotel staff called someone in to try to fix it, but her tv never worked and she gave up. On the same day, she mentioned it seemed as if someone had taken a shower and had left a towel hanging on the shower curtain rail. Hotel staff was informed, they said they checked the activity on the door to see if it registered someone while we were gone, but they said there was no activity. She didnât sleep well, she kept waking up almost every hour of the night. 3rd day I decide to look up the hotel for any news on it. A man was killed on the 2nd floor. If you read some of the other reviews youâll find a man stayed in room 219 switched to another room and states the drawers had a mind of their own, opening and closing by themselves. Others report things gone wrong in this same room, room 219. Toilet to window issues. It was an interesting stay to say the...
