The Ocean Shores Resort — Hotel in Homer

Hubby and I stayed in room 59, father with limited mobility stayed in room 60- in the row of rooms back from the ocean as that's all they had available when I called to book. The room itself for Dad was fine for handicap accessibility, including walk in shower with a fold down bench for him to sit on. However, the exterior was a little wonky for us on that issue. The wheelchair ramp is on the far end of the deck/boardwalk that goes across to each door for the motel, from street end. Dad's room was on the end closest to the RV park side and you're supposed to park in the small parking area in front of your room door. Parking area is loose gravel. We made it work for 2 nights but updates could be done to the rooms, the beds were quite stiff for our comfort, views were nice, but the handicap access from parking area to the rooms needs improvement. The steps (with hand rail) from parking area to deck/boardwalk to rooms were also quite steep, even for me in my late 30's, while trying to...

The Ocean Shores Resort is a solid place to stay in Homer with quick access to all locations in town and on the spit. Some businesses and restaurants are within easy walking distance. We loved the walk down to the beach with a picnic table halfway down to enjoy a happy hour.

The beds were comfortable, but wish we got a room with one king instead of 2 doubles. I don't recall if they were out of the king rooms or just don't have those. The rooms are clean and spacious, but a little dated. The small refrigerator in our room worked great, including the little freezer compartment.

The shower had great water flow with excellent hot water level and the towels were great quality. They have daily room service.

Lastly, make sure you request a room in the building nearest the ocean if available. We were in the next building back where the view is nice, but not...

I highly recommend this little inn. I had read some reviews that called it dated, but that's part of its charm! The lock uses an actual key, the microwave controls are rotary dials and it worked great, I would love it in my own kitchen! Most important, everything was very clean and well-maintained. No worn out carpet or dinged up furniture, the beds were very comfy with surprisingly high quality bedding and towels, and the location is ideal. Short walk to excellent restaurants and easy drive anywhere yet it's also very quiet at night. Best part is the ocean views and trail down to the beach where you can walk along the shore and enjoy an AK sunset.
