Was a huge fan but will not be returning. I had a very negative dressing room experience.
After trying on clothes, I accidentally placed one item backwards on the hanger. The staff member repeatedly commented on it in a way that made me feel as if I had done something seriously wrong. After his initial comment I had immediately offered to help correct everything and even said that I could put everything back for him. However, he followed by saying that “No good deed goes unpunished,” which makes no sense to me as I hadn’t touched or moved anything that would’ve made his life harder, I had only just offered. In addition, it’s a sarcastic and cynical statement that I could never imagine being said to a customer as it’s incredibly unprofessional. Through the interaction he’d also kept telling me to be more mindful and careful???
He had also exaggerated the situation a lot, he began by saying “you put ALL these clothes on backwards” when it was only one or two out of about 7.
I’ve never had this kind of interaction at any other store. It was an honest mistake, but it turned what should have been a simple shopping trip into a stressful and incredibly discouraging experience. It’s even worse knowing that I’m a person who does everything to try to make employees’ jobs as easy as possible.
It was an older man, all white hair.
I don’t know if it was racism or just that he was having a terrible day, but it was a horrendous experience. Definitely not something that anyone should run into as a customer anywhere let alone in a...
Read moreI love shopping here and I’m with The Rack for over 10 yrs. I come here maybe 2-3 times a month. But I was very disappointed on my last visit because of a rude cashier named DEANNE Z.. I purchased 2 pairs of Cole Haan sunglasses this week. One 4 days ago and another pair today. The first one came w a Cole Haan microfiber pouch with no problem and when I purchased the second one today, she tried to give me an unbranded pouch. So I asked and insisted nicely to her if I can have one like the first one. So she radioed someone to check if they have some pouches In the back. And While we were waiting, she started telling me that for the past 4 years she had never seen a Cole Haan pouch like that ever. And a minute later, comes out a manager with at least 10-15 pouches. Why did she have talk to me like that if she doesn’t have any clue of what she’s talking about. 4 years, come on. I have nothing against this store, everyone is always nice to me except this lady. Sorry, I usually ignore and forget these kind of minor incidents. But everyone...
Read moreWhen I visit other clothing stores, there's usually an attendant near the fitting rooms to handle unwanted clothes, but this store didn't have one. I left the clothes in the fitting room, and then a middle-aged black woman with long braided hair approached me, demanding arrogantly that I hang the clothes back up. I explained I didn't have hangers and asked what to do. Instead of explaining nicely, she rudely asked, "Where did you get them from?" implying I should return the clothes to their original places.
Given Hawaii's diverse visitors, it's important to not assume everyone knows your store's fitting room etiquette. Clear, polite signs explaining the process, such as taking hangers into the fitting room and hanging clothes back up, would be helpful. Larger signs in front of the fitting rooms or a staff member explaining the rules nicely would be even better.
If a customer makes a mistake, kindly explain the rules with a "please" instead of rudely asking, "Where did you...
