I don't know why a few chose to leave a bad review... This place was AWESOME!!! We stayed there for 2 days and loved it. When I saw the sign for the cabins i was a little hesitant (bate's motel came to mind), however when we went up the drive/hill i was SOOOO surprised. there were maybe 12 cabins in the area with the main house (lots of trees, flowers and decorations) it was so quiet and peaceful and it smell amazing there between the pine trees and the flowers and the rain. The owners were a married couple VERY nice. We went inside the main house about 10pm to get a cabin for the night as we planned to check out the sites and stay where ever we ended up at the end of the night, the owner grabbed 3 of the keys and showed us 3 different cabins (all cabins have a different theme). ALL of the Cabins were very clean and the beds were super comfortable... We ended up choosing cabin #9 it had a queen size bed a bathroom with sink and shower, a microwave and fridge... There were BBQ grills with propane there to use at the main house with utensils ( we didn't use them cause we were site seeing not lounging out at the cabin all day ) There was a nice little play ground set up for little kids ( we didn't take our kids but figured i would put that info in there anyway cause they would have LOVED playing there ) The breakfast in the morning was hot and cold cereal, toast and local jellies, bagels, english muffins, oranges, apples, banana's, coffee, hot chocolate, and orange juice. ( it was perfect who wants to gorge themselves with heavy food before going out and exploring?) We liked this place and the people so much we booked a second night the next morning! Now i'm not a easy person to please, i'm not a go with the flow person either so i'm not just saying this to trick you into staying at a shady cabin place. I'm just spreading the word as much as i can because this is truly a wonderful place to stay. So to sum this up... Great location, great people, clean cabin, comfortable bed, food food, quiet, peaceful and cheaper then probably most of the other hotels there (We paid $64 a night)... I would stay here ANYTIME over all the other hotels there in hot springs and rapid city! My only suggestion to anyone staying there in the future, If you aren't a early riser bring a sleeping mask to cover your eyes because the sun comes up soooo early (5:30am) and the curtains there don't block out the light very well and i'm a very...
Read moreOur family enjoyed our stay here. The kids really enjoyed the tire swing and the playset. It gave them constructive ways to burn off energy in between tourist activities.
We stayed in a two bedroom cabin. The bedrooms and bathroom were all very clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the firm pillow on the bed—a nice change from the flimsy pillows offered by most lodgings. Each bedroom had a TV, a ceiling fan, a window that opened, and a place to hang clothes.
There are grills and picnic tables for guest use and we took advantage of both for several meals. There are a pair of grocery stores in town if you need groceries.
The breakfast food offered is amazingly diverse. There was a large variety of fresh fruit, which our family appreciated. Other options included cold cereal, bagels, English muffins, toast, yogurt, breakfast bars, Pop Tarts, and a large variety of spreads. Hot baked ham and fresh baked cinnamon rolls also made appearances. Drinks included hot chocolate, juices, milk, tea, and coffee. My only caution is that the decaf coffee carafe is not filled with decaf; it's just another carafe of regular coffee. For decaf drinkers like myself that is very disappointing and a practice I hope they discontinue.
The place isn't exactly next door to Evans Plunge but it is a very short drive. Maybe two minutes away? If you're coming and going from Wind Cave this is directly on your route.
Would we stay here again? Absolutely. I'd just bring my own decaf...
Read moreWe took a family vacation to hot springs pre booked our rooms at a different hotel a month earlier then when we showed up the day of with all the kids and after a long drive, the hotel had given our rooms away. Scrambling around calling place after place and they are the only ones willing to accommodate us at 9 at night with availability and enough space for all of us (4 adults 4 kids) and a service dog. They had a very nice cabin big enough to fit all of us. The owners were very pleasant to chat with. The home made breakfasts were delicious.i loved that they had a community kitchen with any and all cooking utensils available to cook with and offered us to come up to there house a barrow any spices we might need. Let me use one of there propane bbqs to cook for all of the kids . Was a beautiful property all around loved the views, and the active wild life right out the front door. Loved being able to pull right up to the cabin to load and unload plenty of hot water for all of us to shower and plenty of towels of all kinds for all of us slept great on the beds provided. Over all it was home away from home and we want to thank them for saving...
