Buffalo Steakhouse — Restaurant in Hot Springs

We were pretty excited to go get a nice steak dinner at a steakhouse , unfortunately we were pretty disappointed in many factors. Started out thatt they are out of most all their beers down to Bud Light and maybe a couple others. I understand trucks don't show up sometimes, is what it is. It was followed by us asking if we could have mushrooms on my wife's buffalo burger. We were told that they don't put mushrooms on burgers, only on flat iron steaks which seems super weird reasoning. I do not understand. I ordered a filet mignon with shrimp for my main course, the filet mignon was overcooked It was not anywhere close to medium rare which I ordered. I asked our server, which is also either the owner or the manager, to please throw me me on a different steak after I cut into it. She decided that she was going to argue with me about how a steak should be cooked. She then proceeded to tell me it would take a long time to cook a new steak because they were backed up in the kitchen. I asked her to just discount the meal and I would eat it, she told me if she was going to Discount the meal she would take the steak away from me and leave me with three pieces of shrimp and then give me a discount. After going back and forth with her a few times she walked away very sternly and told me she was just going to go cook at herself. When she came back out with the steak it was cooked to perfection and the food was actually very good hence why I gave this review two Stars instead of one. The mood that this whole Fiasco created made our dining experience...

After a very long 26 hour drive to the Black Hills for Sturgis event, my friend suggested we stop and have a early dinner. We were with our wives as well. I ordered a buffalo burger DRESSED, medium. After listening to the 14 year old waitress go on and on how "tender and delicious" the filets were, my wife ordered one medium rare (her favorite way for filet). Noticed brother (?) also waiting on tables who was around 9-10 years old. Only could deduce the adult woman waitressing was the mother. I can only guess that Dad was the cook(?) Anyway, took forever to get our meals. My burger was way overcooked (beyond WELL DONE) and there was no sign of anything else on the burger....plain! My wife's filet was overcooked as well, more on the well done side. I asked the 14 year old about me ordering a "dressed" burger and pointed to the plate just like I received it (open faced). She just gave me a look of disbelief. After leaving the table, she came back 10 minutes later to tell me that she did write down on her pad that I ordered the burger dressed. That's it, meaning I was right, she was correct but the kitchen (Dad?) screwed up, so it wasn't her fault. Geezzz..! The wife's steak was NO WAY near what the 14 year old described. Anyway, way too expensive for what is received. Lessons learned! Definitely NOT stopping there again...

Wife and I each had a steak dinner; filet for her, buffalo for me. Both steaks were done perfectly to order, came with a potato and a nice vegetable medley. The salad bar was wonderful way to start the meal. it was clean and well kept with a good selection. My wife absolutely loved the soup. Had a nice selection of beer, several on tap, and wine. However, no mixed drinks which would have been nice. The service was prompt and very friendly. I even saw the waitress track down a brochure for a table near us that was asking about some of the local sites. Can tell they are in the middle of updating. The new floor looks great, the ceiling desperately needs to be updated though. Should have been much busier on a Saturday night than it was. Normally would give it 4* but they deserve a 5* shoutout and once the updates are complete, they will completely deserve one. Thanks for a ...
