The Last Straw Dear Management, I was just recently in Jackson Hole, WY at your Mountain Modern Motels for a 3 day stay then a 1 day stays Sept 19th, 2017 and again on Sept 25th, 2017. I ended up being “Very Disappointed” in your accommodations! Anyone that has a room on any of the bottom floors at your property had better get ready for a sleepless night. My pre-stay research showed reviews complaining about the thin walls. Since over all they were few I decided to stay here. I Wish I Hadn’t Done So. I was on my honeymoon and it was bad enough that my wife was not feeling well that we had to deal with a herd of elephants in the room above us. The first night starting at 8:30 pm the elephants were on the move above. We finally called the office to complain at 10 pm only to find out that maintenance was upstairs replacing a hot water heater. They were planning on keeping the noise up well into the night if we had not said anything. REALLY !!!!! What was bad is you could tell by the way they were working and walking that they were not intentionally stomping on the floor above. All of this noise was due to the old nature and construction of this motel. I am sure EVERY room on the bottom floor experienced this noise issue in some way or another. They did have maintenance stop their work that night. The next night around 8pm the guest above checked in and it was a herd of elephants again with 2 kids added in for good measures. I immediately walked to the front desk and asked what I needed to do to move out of my room because there was NO WAY I was going to listen to this all night. Again you could tell they were not stomping around upstairs. To the credit of the staff they did take care of this issue and had the guest move to another room even though I did not ask. I will give some good points on this motel. They were very clean and neat and well lay out and the beds were very comfortable. When we returned the following Monday I requested and got a room upstairs which was very nice with no issues. We could tell when we were “creeping softly around“ that we were making noise down stairs. The last straw came when we drove by the motel a couple of hours before check in. I noticed that 3/4 of the front parking lot was orange coned off. I didn’t think much of it until we checked in and found no parking available at all in the front lot where our room was located. I noticed 3 guys out in the lot putting up signs and washing the windows on 10-12 cars. I went to front desk and asked what was going on. They told me that the car dealership was “one of their sponsors” and that they were letting them use the parking lot to show their cars. REALLY….Your Paying Guest were now having to park 50 – 75 yards to the back side of the motel in an “unlit” areas. Really… Really???? You rent out your entire front lot to a car dealership and make your guest walk to their car in the cold wind and rain. It was 29-30 degrees at night and it was raining and was forecasted the rest of the week. Disgusted and walking back to my room I asked one of the dealership guys how long they were planning on being there hoping they were leaving soon. NOT, they told me they were going to be there until late Wednesday afternoon, 3 full days. Way to take care of your guest Mountain Modern……This WAS THE LAST STRAW….. I WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE...
Read moreI booked a stay online for 2 nights. Booking process was easy. I initially booked a 2 queen room. Later received an email with an upgrade offer to a King with extra space. Took advantage of the upgrade. This is important later. Location is very central. The grounds and buildings are beautiful and well-kept. Fire pits scattered thruout, green areas for people with dogs, and a hot tub and pool. There is a bar/cafe on site that has a nice hangout area. Why I didn't give 5 stars for the room? Very thin walls and floors. You hear EVERYTHING! They offer ear plugs in the room, but as someone with tinnitus I cannot use earplugs. You expect a lot of people and outdoor noise with a motel; I would not have expected such a cheap build. There is no small closet with hangers and no dresser. So if you are here for more than one night you are living out of your suitcase. And I imagine if you are here in the winter with all your winter gear and other people and all their gear, well, the room will just get cluttered with stuff. I would not find that to be a relaxing fun vacation. And for the money you spend to stay, you should be comfortable. The layout is a little odd; the sink for the bathroom is outside the bathroom, which is fine, but the light switch for the bathroom sink is not enroute to using the sink. Its across the room so in the night if you want to turn on the light for the sink you need to walk past the sink to the exterior door and turn on the light from that switch. Just an odd setup and given the lack of space for your items I guess I'm not surprised. And bring your own soap. They offer soap and shampoo/conditioner, but the soap has a rank body odor fragrance. ewwww. I used the peppermint shampoo for the shower, but have to step into the shower to get a pump of the shampoo when i wash my hands after using the bathroom. I really think planners don't use the items they plan. As for the check in service, it was fast and friendly. As usual, I explain to reception that my super power is hearing. I hear everything and would like a quiet room on a top floor. So, they put me above the restaurant. OMG! No, you cannot put me above a bar/restaurant when I just told you I am very sensitive to noise. So she found me a fine room someplace else, but it was the original 2 queen bed I booked. Not the upgrade I took advantage of. No problem, just make sure to give me the original rate since I'm going back to my original room type. Nope, she refused to give me a "discount" - no, I'm not looking for a discount I am just asking for my original rate. She refused. Lesson learned - DO NOT upgrade ahead of time. Do all that at the time of check in. She showed me the location of the upgrade room, smaller complex, and explained that the restaurant closes at 9. So fine, keep me in the King room. With the lack of amenities in the room, and the thin walls, and lack of accommodating service - I wasn't really looking for any special treatment - I would say, look for a place with a little more "love" unless you really have to stay here.
Edit: Upgraded Service from 3 to 4 Stars. Scott, the manager, reached out to ensure my stay was a happy comfortable one. I really appreciate that. Just sorry that FD wasn't on top of things initially....
Read moreRecently stayed at this motel. Had 2 night reservation but had to unexpectedly leave early. Asked front desk the night before if we could be credited the night we were unable to stay. Receptionist said they don’t usually refund but she thought her manager Elena would make an exception and that we could call her in morning. We had to pack up and leave before 7am.....we called Elena back at 9am and she was not very pleasant to speak with. She stated that they would not credit us the night back and stated that “her staff would never tell anyone that they would get credited a night back because they know better”. Elena....I assure you we wouldn’t lie. Elena’s words were “we have people ask us all the time for refunds for their rooms and if we gave them their money back then we wouldn’t make any money”. So I guess it’s not about being hospitable and offering a great product but it’s all about the money. And why would so many people want their money back?....maybe it’s because the walls are paper thin and you can hear all conversations above you and to the sides of you even when they get up for bathroom at night....or maybe it’s the area around the motel that seems unsafe (we even watched a police officer throw down a criminal running outside our hotel room within 2 hours of arrival).....or maybe it’s that they paid $300 per night and got the quality of a motel 6.....or maybe it’s because there is not enough parking space for their customers. The linens are not plush and feel like sandpaper on your skin....the rooms made have had a facelift but it’s still not $300 per night accommodations....the website pictures are deceiving folks. We are frequent travelers and only write reviews if we are extremely impressed or severely disappointed (because who wants to take the time to write reviews when you are out enjoying the sights, right? 😊). And this was an unfortunate disappointment. When you are in the hospitality business, the customers should always be treated with respect and it just didn’t happen here. I hoped this manager would make it right but she had a “don’t care” attitude. So when our trip planner books rooms for customers again in Jackson, she won’t be putting them here! ...
