The Antler Inn is a collection of 1960’s style motel buildings beautifully situated in Jackson - and boy, do you pay for it!|$399 (sans tax) bought me a motel room. |If you want a nice hotel room - think Courtyard by Marriott - this is three steps down. |The Bathroom:|Designed with the utmost thrift in mind, the counter space is just enough for your toothbrush and toothpaste. The shower tub and toilet closet looked like they went to Home Depot and said, “Sell me the cheapest possible.” To be fair. I know this can’t be true because Home Depot wasn’t around in 1969 when these fixtures were in bloom. Congratulations to them for making us feel like we’ve stepped back to a simpler, less elegant time. Also, the caulk job around the bath/toilet look like it had been finger painted by a four-year-old.|The Bed:|Perfectly fine.|The Room:|Ok.|The nightstands and light fixtures were nice and in keeping with the Western theme.||Genuine Compliments:|The fireplace in the room was beautifully constructed, and they had ample wood provided.|Beautiful flower baskets hanging from the exteriors.||The location is great.||My Main Problems:|They are poorly managed and unprofessional.|At $399/night, it is reasonable to expect professionalism of the highest caliber. They weren’t even close to bad.|I specifically checked before I reserved to make sure they had internet.|When I got to the room at 3:10, the internet vacillated between not working and one/two bars. I called the “IT” service for problems and spoke with a “Bryker.” Forty minutes later on the phone, he finally took my name and number, told me that he’d continue to work on it, and hopefully call me back with better news.|Sometime a little after 5pm, I went down to the office and said my internet was down and told them about my interaction with Bryker, The person-in-charge said, “That’s funny?”|I told him, “I agree.”|He said he’d try to find out what’s going on.|Sometime after 7pm, I went to the office, again, and told them my internet was still bad.|The two people at the office told me that “Nick,” the night manager must have been the one I spoke to earlier and that he was on a break.|I posited that they wouldn’t let me have my room if I was $30 short, and they agreed. I then told them that I wouldn’t have reserved the room if it didn’t have internet.|I said, “Just take $30 off, and we’ll call it done.”|They said, “We can’t’ do that, and neither can Nick. The only one who can do that works between 10am and 5 pm tomorrow. You can call her if you’re not here.”||People…||A place that charges $399 for a mediocre room should at least have someone present during the time CUSTOMERS ARE PRESENT who has the authority to make small - and even large - adjustments.||The Antler Inn management is demonstrably bad.||I write this review the next morning, and have heard nothing but crickets.||The reason I titled this, “Lipstick on a Pig” because the owners CLEARLY took a low-level property, slapped on some hanging baskets and think that makes it a superior facility.||It is not superior in facility or management.||It’s...
Read moreWe arrived earlier than expected and wanted to stop in to see if an earlier check-in was possible. We didn’t expect an earlier check-in in but wanted to plan around whatever check in time they might allow as we don’t like to leave bags in the car if we plan to be gone for a while. The lady at the front desk was so rude, ignoring us completely. We waited patiently only to be told with the wave of her hand, “we could check in after 3pm.” Again, we didn’t expect to be accommodated but the way we were treated made me want to throw away our entire reservation and find something else. My husband who never complains was the one who said we should go elsewhere(he never opts for extra leg work in the travel plans). I said we would give it a try after all maybe we just caught her at a bad time?!? When we did check in after 3 the same lady ignored us forcing another young man to help us while she took the older couple behind us. The guy was very pleasant and made me feel a lot better about keeping our reservation. The room was mediocre and outdated and the room keys needed to be fixed before we could get inside. The location is good but there are far better choices in the area especially if you are like us: we don’t want anything from people just appreciate politeness. We will likely never go back to Antler inn unless there is a change worthy of giving it a...
Read moreGreat location, but that's about it. Room was grossly misrepresented when booking online. The most uncomfortable bed I've slept in at a hotel, possibly ever. The pillows were seriously horrible. Way past their prime and I wouldn't be surprised if they are left over from when they place first opened. It was hard, balled up pieces of wadding and they should have been tossed a long time ago. I could barley turn my head for two days after that. The towels were so hard and scratchy that they should be religated to pet use. The room was dark, tired and outdated. With rooms like this I always wonder about cleanlyness. If they don't care about how the room feels, do they put as much effort it cleaning? If I knew that's what I was getting I could have dealt with it, but at over $200/night, and my expectations higher when booking, I was very let down. If you happen to get one of their nicer rooms they show online, it could be worth it. As I said, it was a great location if you want to walk around town, but I struggle to find anything more positive to say. We won't be...
