My husband and I decided to go on an adventure up to East Tennessee to get away from the Austin, TX area for a few days. We stopped in Birmingham, AL the first night of our journey and then up to Johnson City, TN for a night there at the Holiday Inn. The hotel stays were nice and uneventful but nothing compared to our exceptional stay at our ultimate destination, the Jonesborough Bed & Breakfast in beautiful & historic Jonesborough, TN. We stayed 3 nights there in the lovely and private master suite. It was a spacious & comfortable room and a great place to rest & relax. I can't say enough good things about our host/B&B owner, Brian. He treated us with a delicious & thoughtful breakfast each of the 3 mornings we were there, served with a generous side of delightful conversation each time. He was very insightful on the area and gave us excellent recommendations for the kind of activities we were looking to do during our visit to the area. We took his advice and visited a specific river area one day and the next day we did a an amazing waterfall hike that he had suggested. Both places were terrific and we very much enjoyed both outings & appreciated him informing us about those options. Brian was extremely accommodating, charming and kind and we are forever grateful for him making us feel at home, almost too much, as we didn't want to leave. We will definitely make Jonesborough B&B our choice destination whenever we are blessed with the opportunity to return to that gorgeous & charming area...
Read moreMy wife and I were on a road trip in the Great Smoky Mountains in October. We wanted an overnight stop in a historic Tennessee town with a comfortable B&B. We found both in Jonesboro and its eponymous accommodation. Brian welcomed us into his large downstairs room w/bath and a deck. He also has two rooms upstairs, which we didn't see but were told they are great for families. Our room was quiet and very comfortable. It has both inside seating and chairs on the deck. Rain kept us from enjoying the deck. Brian is a very genial host and told us about this old town. He recommended a local pub with an English-oriented menu. We looked at it as we walked around the town: popular with locals. We also learned about the town from a play performed after dark in a cemetery right across the street.||We didn't eat in the pub because we learned about the Kitchen at Grace Meadows, a large restaurant in a beautiful park-like location a few miles from Jonesboro. It offers good Southern cooking served family-style. And all you want to eat.||We ended our visit with excellent coffee and a delicious Brian-cooked breakfast. My wife did some more exploring in the town (just a couple of blocks away). I was able to use the large living room to practice Tai Chi. We highly recommend this clean, comfortable and...
Read moreDon’t stay here! The pictures on the internet are very deceiving, the place was unkept and run down, nothing like the pictures. The towels that were left for us were very rough and felt gritty. We rented the whole house and the kitchen for us to cook in was sub par. The microwave was dirty, the shelves were falling apart, the island was a filing cabinet with a piece of granite thrown on top. We were told to be careful because it was top heavy. Magnets on the refrigerator were of naked decapitated women. Food was left for us to eat but we didn’t touch it because I was nervous it wasn’t safe to eat. The table in the kitchen was cluttered with junk and personal items of the owners. It appeared there was repairs or construction going on? There were ladders on both side of the house that made us feel very unsafe because someone could climb the ladders and get into the house. There were vaulgar inappropriate books on the book shelves in the dinning room and the book shelves themselves were leaning, appearing as they could fall down any minute. The grounds were unkept and the porch on the front had one whole side full of clutter. I wish I would have never agreed to stay here, my family and I felt unsafe...
