My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Arts in Kansas City. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The museum had a great collection of photography, paintings and sculptures from various contemporary artists. We were impressed by the creativity and diversity of the artworks. We loved the cafe, where the walls were covered by paintings, and the gift shop, where we found some unique souvenirs. We also enjoyed the music recital that was happening during our visit. It was a nice touch that added to the ambiance. The best part is that the admission is free, so we could enjoy the art without spending a dime. We highly recommend this museum to anyone who loves art and culture. It was a memorable experience for us.
One of the fun things we did at the museum was to take photos with props and furniture that were already there. There was a space in the museum where you could do that, and it was a lot of fun. We felt like we were part of the art. There was also pencil, paper and crayons to draw and paint. We tried our hand at making some art of our own, and it was very relaxing and enjoyable. We appreciated the opportunity to express ourselves and...
Read moreWe actually tried Café Sebastienne inside the museum. It was just beautiful. They had a great art display in place that you could view while you waited for your lunch. My husband and I sat out on the "patio" area that was flooded by natural light from the outside, which was lovely and featured a beautiful piece of art on the wall. Our waitress Traci was very sweet. My husband and I selected the chicken salad sandwich, vegan mushroom chili, crab cake salad, pomegranate mule, and vanilla latte. My husband said the grilled bread for the sandwich had good flavor, but the chicken was a little on the dry side. He also mentioned the chili was good but would like to see a finer dice on the mushrooms. I had the crab cake salad salad with lemon vinaigrette. I am not a big fan of peas in my salad, but the crab cakes were delicious. I should have asked for extra vinaigrette on the side because the dressing got soaked up by the salad, and I could hardly taste it. The Pomegranate Mule was yummy thought, and the husband enjoyed his latte. We will definitely be back to visit the Café Sebastienne again along with the museum. Thank you for a pleasant dining experience. We enjoyed...
Read moreWhat a treasure to have such a fine art exhibit location in downtown KC. Easily accessible from the Plaza area and free for all to visit.
The exhibits were intriguing and vary widely from early European art to post revolutionary art. There was a great exhibit of Egyptian artifacts from the pyramid too. Lots of church related early Christianity artifacts and displays. The stained glass works were so beautiful too.
You can spend a day here easily or break it up into smaller visits over time. There is a nice cafe in the center with great food and a selection of coffees and deserts.
Venture outside and see the world’s largest shuttle cocks and other great displays of art works. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic on the lawn under the shade of the many Ginkgo trees.
There is plenty of parking in the parking garage and it cost 14 dollars per vehicle, which seems like a bargain for the free entry. If you have a handicap tag or plaque the...
