Another Broken Egg Cafe — Restaurant in Texas

First and foremost, I want to say as soon as we walked in, we were greeted in a timely manner by the great host of the name of Dominic, he saw that it was my wife our one year old daughter and myself. He made sure to accommodate us by getting a table that's suitable for ourselves. As soon as we sat down and got situated, we were waiting patiently for our server to greet us and at least take our drink orders. But, we waited for a good 15 minutes, went by, and still no server came by. It's funny to say Dominic came by to make sure we were doing okay and asked if he could get something to drink for yall, and we said sure why not water.. got the waters, but still no waiters, so i asked Dominic, if he knew who our server was, and he certainly found us our waiter and finally we got waited on after 20 mins of waiting. Meanwhile, I ordered my wife's drink and food order, on which she had ordered the crab cake Benedict with country style potatoes followed by myself which I ordered a lobster and brie omelette, and also ordered a side of eggs for baby. So, we got our drinks within two minutes and were not going to lie. The drinks were excellent, my wife ordered a mimosa, and I went ahead and ordered a blueberry lemonade margarita. Thanks, bartender! Alright, 10 minutes later, here they come with our food. I mean, the wife and I are brunch enthusiasts and love brunch as our favorite meal of the day. So, let me tell you, we dug into our food, I mean, the omlette was okay, and the lobster was well cooked on their, it was just so bland, no seasoning on the omelette nor the potatoes. Don't let me get started on those potatoes.. they said it's country style, I believe country style meant potatoes mixed with bell peppers and onions.. but no, not in this case. They were really dry and just were fried and put on a plate.. I don't want to get started on my wife's plate.. we've had much crab cake Benedicts, but at this place, my wife was not pleased with the eggs, crab cakes, or potatoes. She said the poached eggs were not even warm. They felt really cold, and the crab cakes were as well, bland. It was so bad that my wife didn't even finish her food.. I don't know what happened to seasoning or if the cooks or chefs don't believe in seasoning.. but sheeeesh! Okay, enough venting about our food, remember how we ordered our baby side of eggs, but it didn't come out with our food, and we told the expo person who brought our food about the eggs, he said yes it's coming right out, two-three minutes passed by, still hasn't come out yet. Then, we asked our server about it. He was like, "Oh yeah, let me go get it," and didn't come until 5 minutes later.. So, our baby was hungry. Luckily, we gave her some of our food to keep her occupied and when the eggs finally came out. At least, the eggs were cooked order, I believe, because the wife had to blow on them to cool them, so our baby could eat. So, overall, the experience was not as what we had expected it to be! WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Our group was 7 4 adults 3 kids, it wasn’t too busy waited about 5 minutes. It was nice so we decided to eat outside. When we were seated we waited about 15 minutes for the server to arrive(Jason) we didn’t really mind because it gave us time to look over the menu and decide. He took our drink order and we advices we were ready to order he took our order and left. 20 minutes later our food arrived but we still hadn’t received our drinks, so we asked the person dropping off the food if we can get our drinks. Another 5-10 minutes no drinks so we asked another girl if we can please get our drinks. We waited another 5-10 minutes no drinks, I couldn’t eat my food without having something to drink so I decided to go inside to the bar for water… there was no one there and our server was nowhere to be found. inside was not that busy so I flagged down a different worker and asked for our drinks to be delivered. He went outside and had to retake our drink order after 5 minutes and half the table finished with their meal we finally get our drinks. My sisters coffee mug had lipstick on it, that was the last straw we asked to speak with the manager. Once she arrived (Diana) right behind her was our server, that was the second time we’ve seen him in the 45-60 minutes we’ve been there besides to take our order. We let her know how we were displeased and the fact the coffee mug was dirty, all she said was I’m sorry and ok like it didn’t matter. I told her I couldn’t even eat my meal it was already cold to just bring out the bill. Once she stepped away the server(Jason) started arguing with my sister telling her he was inside and has other tables to attend, I guess just not the ones outside because there was another couple sitting there for over 20 minutes no one had taken their order. not once did he apologize he just made excuses. My sister let him know we didn’t care for his excuses to just bring out her coffee he got aggressive and said if we kept it up he would kick us out, stated he didn’t need that job because he had another. That was clear with the poor customer service, the manager came back stated she would comp the 2 meals we didn’t eat and the coffee. We let her know of his attitude all she said was ok, at this point I was done with his rudeness, arguing and her incompetence we paid and I walked away. After we left we saw she did comp the coffee and meals but charged the kids milk separate although it’s included with the meal.at this point I no longer wanted to deal with this TERRIBLE service. never going...

Probably won’t be back. Our waitress was very rude and inexperienced on how to serve a table in a restaurant. It was uncomfortable and didn’t seem like there was a manager visible to speak with about it. You DONT just stand at a table with your pen and pad with an attitude waiting for us to tell you what we want. As a server, you should guide the experience and be welcoming and not snarky. Why do I have to help you serve us??? More training is definitely needed in this establishment. This was our first time here and we will just keep searching for a more desirable breakfast spot in Katy. I should have got her name but I don’t even think it was provided when we sat down. She brought my husband a coffee when he asked for an orange juice and brought out half an order of beignets when I asked for a full order. We were given a drink menu when we sat down but when I asked for an Irish coffee, I was told verbatim, “Does that have alcohol?? , Nope! Not 10 yet!” … ok… didn’t say anywhere in the menu that the alcoholic beverages were sold at a certain time but that’s fine… I just ordered a regular coffee. Disappointed to be given a full extensive alcoholic brunch beverage menu and then be told no I can’t have any of them… with no further explanation, I just gave up on that.

The food: I ordered the Country Power Bowl, the ham is strangely large in this bowl and I almost choked on a piece that I couldn’t fully chew and got stuck in my throat. I had to spit it out. I’ve been used to diced ham chopped in small pieces in a breakfast dish, not long pulled pieces of ham straight off the bone with fat still connected to the meat. Just horrible and not enjoyable. Made it very hard to enjoy the rest of the dish. The over sized biscuit was cold and didn’t taste fresh at all so I didn’t touch that much. The bacon tasted processed and chewy. My husband enjoyed his shrimp and grits. The biscuit beignets were very dense and cold and hard on the outside. The flavor was good but wish it was hot.

So all in all, this place gets 1 star from me because if the service was better and if our server didn’t have such a weird attitude than I may have had better things to say. All the staff looked very young and all over the place. Why would my server tell me to not let anyone else refill my coffee??? Because they will give me the wrong kind of coffee??
