Food was incredible, from the quality of Ingredients to the flavor, even the plating was more than expected. Portions were generous as well as we couldn't finish a lot of it. The only negatives I have would be the bulgogi mac n cheese needs a larger size, just my own desire since it was a larger portion than you would expect in a Korean/bonchon style serving for corn/etc...and for all I know they do have a meal sized portion and I just overlooked it. The other being the wings. I loved the crispiness and the sauce was the right amount of spice and sweetness without needing to cleanse the tastebuds but overall the rest of my party felt they were way over cooked. There is even a home made BBQ butter sauce to dip your beef in, not that's it necessary as it is 44 farms and similar providers depending on your selection, still an amazing flavor needed or not. The table loved the fish/shrimp/scallops/soup/salads/kimchi and everything else we ordered. The desserts are home-made as well. They were tasty but did not live up to expectations set forth by the dinner.
Service was OK. Our Waitress was really sweet and personable, but clearly felt overwhelmed, constantly missed social cues/didn't know how to read a table and one of our guests went over an hour before they got a water among other rookie mistakes even though there was only a few tables over the course of us being there. That being said whether she was new or not, she did have a way of making you feel welcomed and at home to be there that more than made up for any minor snafus. The owner is seen moving in between the floor table to table(including ours) and in and out of the kitchen making sure the whole experience goes smoothly, which any guest wants to see.
Atmosphere wise it felt like walking into an American bar and grill or burger joint. The booths were comfortable even for somebody big and tall like myself. Excellent neighborhood spot vibe. Most importantly though it was clean. Which seems to be hit or miss these days in so many restaurants, but everywhere I looked I was impressed.
They do autograt as we were a party of 6 adults, I imagine it is printed on the menu, but I just didn't notice it. All in and all for the quality of food, the generous portions, cleanliness, and the price point I will be recommending this place to friends and look forward to...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of dining at what can only be described as a culinary nightmare Stone Age. From the moment I stepped foot inside, it became abundantly clear that this establishment was determined to deliver a thoroughly disappointing experience.
Let's start with the ambiance, or lack thereof. The interior decor was outdated and dreary, reminiscent of a forgotten era. The dim lighting did nothing to alleviate the sense of gloom that permeated the air. It was as if they had made no effort to create a pleasant atmosphere for their diners.
As I perused the menu, my hopes for redemption dwindled. The selection was limited and unimaginative, leaving me yearning for something more enticing. The prices, however, were exorbitant for the quality of food that was to come.
When the food finally arrived at our table, it was a sight to behold – and not in a good way. The presentation was lackluster, with plates haphazardly assembled and lacking any artistic flair. But the real disappointment lay in the taste, or rather the lack thereof. The dishes were bland, uninspired, and lacking any semblance of seasoning. It was as if the chef had forgotten to add any flavor to the meals. The ingredients seemed stale, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste with every bite.
To make matters worse, the service was abysmal. The waitstaff appeared disinterested and unmotivated, offering little to no assistance or recommendations. Our drinks were never refilled, and it took an eternity for our orders to be taken. It was clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority for this establishment.
Even the simplest request seemed to be a challenge for the staff. I asked for a glass of water with no ice, and it took three different servers and a manager to finally deliver the correct order. Their incompetence was staggering.
In summary, my experience at Stone Age was nothing short of a disaster. From the lackluster ambiance to the tasteless food and abysmal service, it was a symphony of disappointment. Save yourself the disappointment and choose a different dining option. This restaurant is a shining example of what not to do in the...
Read moreHere in the west Houston suburb of Katy, Texas, the dining options continue to improve. Thanks to the large Asian population, we have a growing number of Asian restaurants and one that was just recently added to the scene is Stone Age Korean Grill Bar.
Stone Age Korean Grill Bar is a medium- sized restaurant with enough seating, including booths, and tables, to hold around 100 or so guests. It straddles the line between a casual and a more upscale dining establishment. The interior is modern and pleasant and there is a television or two, but this isn’t a place to visit for television sports. Stone Age Korean Grill Bar is about the food, as you will quickly learn as soon as you place an order.
The menu options at Stone Age Korean Grill Bar include small plates, soups, larger Stone Grill options, sides, etc. The small plates are good as a warm- up or could serve as a snack for someone who isn’t very hungry. If your appetite is heartier, you will want to go with a steak or other meat with side dishes from the Stone Grill.
The food served at Stone Age Korean Grill Bar is delicious overall and what really sets this restaurant apart from most is the volcanic stone they bring right to your table. With this hot stone, you can take the meat from your meal, and other items as well, and grill them to your liking, right before your own eyes. I love this because it means I can split a steak with someone, cut it up, and we can each cook it the way we like it. Kids like it, too, because it is fun to watch the meat sizzle on the grill, right there at your table.
It's cool to have so many more food options in Katy than in the past. Stone Age Korean Grill Bar is one of my favorite newer restaurants, both for its delicious food and courteous service. It’s a great place to check out if you love Asian food and want options that the entire...
