This is our 2nd time staying at the Southernmost Point Guest house, and it definitely won't be our last. The rooms are beautiful, the grounds are great, and the location is perfect for my husband and I. We could not have asked for a better stay.
The room we stayed at this time was slightly bigger than the one we previously stayed at, and we appreciated the little extra room since we were here for 5 days. When coming to Key West truly you are not spending much time in your room. It is all about exploring, and there is always plenty to do, no matter how many times you have visited the area. There is so much history here. Therefore, the most important thing to myself and my husband is a good comfortable bed. And this place does not disappoint. We stayed in 6A, and the balcony area is quiet and private. Even with the food truck and bar on site, it is still very quiet at night. Which is one of the reasons we love this location.
The service here is fantastic. The staff is always friendly, professional, and always helpful. They serve breakfast every morning starting at 8a, coffee is available sooner. Great atmosphere, tables with umbrellas to sit under when you're not quite ready to face the sun. Every day, you get a complimentary alcoholic beverage voucher for the bar on site. They serve excellent drinks. The bartenders are amazing. There are bands playing in the courtyard/dining area and a food truck as well. There is a pool in the back, a very clean and comfortable place to relax and unwind from a busy day. And the area is mostly shaded. We love this location as it is at the end of Duval, which makes it easy to walk to the other end of Duval where all the action is. Or, of course, Uber/Lyft is available and very affordable.
We love everything about this place and definitely recommend it. Parking is available and is gated. Not that you have to worry about that. The location is steps away from the southernmost point buoy, so there is a lot of foot traffic during the day. We love our visits here, and I am sure we will continue to rebook our vations with. Read morePros: Location was nice. Landscaping pretty. Bed was large and comfy. Free drink ticket every day of stay although bartender closed early one evening and also made wrong drink another evening but hey it was free. Room was quiet with exception of the walking heard above. Staff was nice but not exceptional as surprisingly they would not assist with any special birthday requests. Cons: The room was quite small. There was long hairs in the nightstand drawers other than that the room pretty clean. The bathroom a bit dated. There was a tub and would have preferred a walk-in shower. Tried to make the best of it…I was going to take a bath but couldn’t take a bath because the shower head had a leak when faucet turned on. There were little to no toiletries available. The pool/spa/jacuzzi was tiny and not working. (The water too warm in day and chilly in evening as temp control not working nor were the jets.) The breakfast that was included was not worth eating. I think the eggs might have been powdered. Hospital food is better. Advertised as being across from beach but the beach was very small man made, full of garbage, seaweed and really bad smell from sulphur and rotting fish. Spoke with staff when booking and closer to trip explaining that we were celebrating a special (50th birthday) but would not do anything extra like a birthday treat or happy birthday sign or decoration of any sort even when I offered to pay extra. Also watch out for all of the bees in parking area got stung while trying to wipe all the bird poop off of my windshield and door handles when leaving. (But the parking was free)
Overall it was just ok. Looking to book a group of friends for a week in January but will probably be looking to...
Read moreThis hotel was truly lovely, boasting an incredible location and impeccably clean and well-appointed rooms. Despite these positives, I'm giving it a rating of 2.5 due to the lack of welcoming atmosphere. Upon arrival for our spring break getaway, my friends and I, all of age for the booking, were met with immediate disrespect during check-in. The staff interrupted us before we could even provide our reservation details, focusing instead on our luggage count. Despite being told over the phone that luggage storage was fine, we were met with resistance upon arrival. Additionally, my age and responsibility were unfairly questioned, leading to a sour start to our Key West experience. The following night, we encountered issues with a room lock and malfunctioning emergency button, resulting in a noisy incident and subsequent complaints. These problems could have been avoided with better communication from the staff regarding room specifics. While the owner was understanding, I would caution against staying here if you're under 30 and planning to return late at night, as noise complaints and possible eviction are concerns in this older property. If the hotel doesn't want younger guests, they should consider revising their policies accordingly. I will say, the drinks on the house were nice. The taco truck by the bar had some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. And the view from our room was lovely. Although we never saw the woman who disrespected us again after the first day, we did not feel welcomed and it completely...
