Alan S Maltz Gallery — Attraction in Key West

While visiting Key West, my wife and I were wandering down Duval Street checking out the various shops and restaurants along this storied route when we happened to come upon the Alan S. Maltz Gallery located at 1210 Duval St. Upon entering the gallery we immediately both looked at each other in amazement as to the extraordinary beauty of the pieces on display. It was one of those experiences where we couldn’t wait to see what hidden gems were hiding around the next corner! As if that wasn’t enough, we were lucky enough to meet the artist himself, Alan Maltz, who happened to be at the gallery that day and he couldn’t have been more engaging and hospitable! He gave us backstories on some of his wonderful pieces which made them ‘come to life’ even more! Most people purchase art because they ‘connect’ with it somehow, but we not only connected with the art, but with the artist also which will make the piece we decided upon all that more special. Every time we look at the beauty of it we will immediately be brought back to Key West and our day of ‘synchronicity’. After remodeling my home I had been looking for the "right" art work to set theme for the living room décor'. I looked for months then lo and behold while on vacation to the Key's I walked into Alan's Gallery. I was greeted by a very friendly, informative staff that gave me some history on Alan and his artwork. I walked up stairs, turned and saw "Arc Of Light" and instantly knew I found the piece I've been looking for. We met with Alan to discuss the picture, options, frames, lighting, picture locations, homes, people, life....etc. I had a very nice business and personal conversation(s) with Alan. Once we determined picture size on aluminum and frames I was told about 4 - 5 weeks for delivery.

After the purchase, I have to say, I held my breath while waiting for the picture to arrive..... I'm in CA and they're in Florida what could possibly go wrong.... the worries are endless. As delivery date arrived (4 weeks), I received a phone call saying we have a delivery for you..... the framed Arc Of Light arrived and was "flawless", exactly as explained and anticipated.... Thank you...

Worth the visit. When I did, one the pictures called Tranquility, 84" wide 48" high, caught my eye as soon as I walked in.

It has been my experience good art doesn't need to be found, it calls to you. On the last day of my visit in Key West I stopped in again and spoke with the creator, Alan about the photograph, asking about the circumstances of his taking that picture. After he explained how he took it I overcame my reluctance and purchased the piece in a 72" x 26" size. I asked if he could give a written explanation of what he told me to accompany the piece, as I have found stories and backgrounds make art more whole and enhance their value. I expected an email or a small written note to accompany the piece, but was pleasantly surprised to find the story professionally prepared with care on high quality paper that I framed and have displayed next to the picture.
