To start, the entire staff at the resort was wonderful, caring and when needed very empathetic so this review is not a reflection on them, rather on the marketing/operations folks. To start with I originally booked a king balcony room in the Avalon guesthouse back in June for the Dec 22-25 dates. On Black Friday they had a better rate available, so I cancelled the original reservation and rebooked the exact same room. Upon arrival we went to our room only to discover that there was no balcony, no chairs to sit in per the pictures on the web site because the room was tiny and couldn’t accommodate a chair and the view out the window was clouded because there was no view, only a trash filled space between the Avalon and another resort building. I went to the lobby and discussed the situation with a manager who said they had allowed me to book the room in error. The Avalon rooms never had a balcony. They made some concessions on the room charge to try to make it right, which I accepted. Then the first night at 1:06 AM and 2:13 AM the piercing fire alarm went off. That was it. I went down to discuss the next morning and they moved us to a room in the Dewey House (thank you Shantoy)! This room had a balcony and chairs, very nice! Interestingly they use pictures from this House on their web site to promote the Avalon rooms, don’t fall for it, not the same rooms in Avalon. So, the room issue was resolved but one more thing. There is no “normal” TV viewing in this facility. No networks, no ESPN, no news, nothing. We had to go to the bar to watch a football game on Fox. Not sure how you justify charging this much money and not offer some semblance of TV. In summary, staff A+, the right room C- (no TV), the rest F-. I cannot recommend this resort.

Absolutely beautiful. Good showing of the history of the building itself. Staff is very friendly, on the quiet end of Duvall street, 5 minute walk the Atlantic Ocean and the Southernmost Point. Beds come with soft mattress toppers and linens were so fresh and clean. I work in the hospitality industry focusing on hotels so believe me, I know what a clean linen is lol. We got the romance celebration package and it was so stunning. Warm homemade cookies in lobby with hand made infused drinks and water every day. Warm continental breakfast which changed each day we were there. Omelettes one day, spinanch quiche the next, and scrambled eggs and sausage the last. Walk in shower in our room. Housekeeping was so friendly. Definitely worth staying at and will be my wife and I's home hotel when we come back to Key West.

Second trip to Key West, 1st time at SOMO was awesome...the Mile0Fest being partially hosted at SOMO Beach was a coincidence that put this vacation over the top...our Bartenders: Sharla, Ashley & Sean are true professionals in an Era where great staff is difficult to find. They were attentive, engaging & personable. Piotr the "Beach Chair Wrangler" is one of the hardest working staff on the property. He made a difficult job look easy during a busy event every day. Marilyn & Kadie at the Duval House made every AM breakfast something to look forward to... Bennythe bellman & front desk staff, made arrival & departure seamless...we will he back!

We booked our trip to the Avalon B&B before it was acquired by Southernmost Beach Resort (I don't think it is a better situation for anyone staying at the Avalon in the future). Before we arrived, we called and was informed about the new arrangement and was told that we would not have to pay the crazy $45 per day resort fee. We did 'express checkout' and when we received our bill we were charged a resort fee and a $28 per day parking fee (that was adjusted, off the bill). After calling the resort twice to have this corrected, Ashley told me that "...everyone is charged a parking fee UNLESS YOU TELL THEM YOU AREN'T DRIVING." No one asked if we needed parking, and Greg (from Avalon who was with us during the check in knew we didn't need parking. Speaking of Greg, he provided exceptional service every day and every instance we encountered him. Back to Southernmost...they also charged us $100 per day ($400) for incidentals that would be refunded to us if we didn't use it. Our only real charge was the purchase of one beer and one glass of wine, but when we go the bill we were charged ANOTHER $170.87 ON TOP of the $400 already charged. Now, I have stayed in some 5 star resorts, but never had a resort try to rip me off on top of the expensive lodging. Regarding the lodging, yes it is nice. Very nice. It was also the most expensive lodging I've ever had, but not the best (and this experience with the billing reinforced that feeling. So, a word of caution: DO NOT USE THE EXPRESS CHECKOUT. Now, back to my review...I probably would have opted for a 4 star review had we not had this experience with the billing. What we liked: Again, the service by all at the Avalon was outstanding! The location can't be beat and we loved our private king room. The bedding was amazing; the breakfast on the front porch was enjoyable with a variety of hot foods daily; there was a ceiling fan in our room; the coffee maker in the lobby was great since breakfast wasn't served until 8:30am and I like my coffee earlier; and I loved the afternoon cookies. What we didn't like: Our tv wasn't working upon check-in and no one informed us that the tv wasn't working (the tv service wasn't restored until the 4th day of our stay); we did not have any maid service without asking for a 'refresh' (which was only once during our 4 night stay); and don't bother with an alarm clock because the rooster will wake you every morning....sometimes in the middle of the night and multiple times during the early morning hours. Would I stay there again? No, nor would I stay at any...

My college girlfriends and I take an annual trip every year and this year, we stayed at Duvall Gardens at the Southernmost Beach Resort. ||Duvall Gardens is located about 4 blocks away from the Southernmost hotel's lobby. You check in at the lobby and a bellman with a golf cart drives you to the house. My room was great - well appointed, comfortable bed, nice sheets, lovely decor, had a refrigerator, a coffee maker, robes and safe. Basically every amenity you need in a hotel room. I saw a review wanting a microwave - I have never wanted or used a microwave on vacation. The room and bathroom are all recently renovated and everything was very clean. ||The concierge was helpful in making reservations. She helped us book a sunset cruise and several good restaurants for dinners. ||The location is perfect - everything was walkable. We took long walks each morning, walked to the pier for the cruise and to the restaurants each night. Don't miss the harbor walk. One downside of the location is that it can be a little noisy. Duvall is obviously a busy street and while Duvall Gardens is on the quiet end, the traffic with people blasting their music and the roosters can be noisy. The room does have a nice humidifier the doubles as a white noise machine - be sure to empty it before you go to bed so it doesn't stop in the middle of the night. Otherwise, be sure to wear earplugs. ||I had a deep tissue massage at the spa and that was very good. The spa facility is pretty limited - just one treatment room so book early! ||We had breakfast each morning and everything was excellent. Great selection and everything was fresh. The coffee could've been a tad stronger but I just threw in an extra shot from the coffee maker in the room. We had drinks and lunch at the pool a couple of times. I had a chicken wrap one day that was pretty good. I enjoyed the poolside entertainment. We sat out on the pier another day and the views were beautiful. There was a slight breeze and honesty the weather was perfect. ||Overall, I would highly recommend this for a girls weekend. We had an amazing time and can't...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the stunning Avalon Guest House at the Southernmost Beach Resort, and I must say, it was an experience beyond compare. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was captivated by the breathtaking remodel that seamlessly blended modern sophistication with timeless charm.

The attention to detail in every aspect of the hotel's design was truly remarkable. The tastefully decorated rooms exuded an air of elegance, with plush furnishings, soft lighting, and a color palette that instantly created a sense of tranquility. The remodel truly showcased the dedication of the property team to create a space that was both visually stunning and inviting.

Now, let's talk about the breakfast offering at Avalon which was located at an adjacent BnB on the beach- it was an absolute delight for the senses! Each morning, I eagerly made my way to the hotel's restaurant, where I was greeted by a mouthwatering array of options. From freshly baked pastries to made-to-order omelets, the breakfast menu catered to every palate. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the presentation was nothing short of artistry.

What truly set Avalon apart was the exceptional service provided by the staff. The team was warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive to every guest's needs. They went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was nothing short of perfection, and their genuine passion for hospitality was evident in every interaction.

Furthermore, Avalon's prime location on Duval St added to the overall experience. Situated in the heart of Old Town, it allowed for easy access to popular attractions, vibrant nightlife , and charming local shops.

In conclusion, my stay at Avalon was an absolute dream. The remarkable remodel, delightful breakfast offering, and impeccable service exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this boutique hotel to anyone seeking a memorable and luxurious experience. Whether you're visiting for business or pleasure, Avalon is sure to leave a...
