If every morning you could wake up to Mouth Rushmore in the mist…would you want to try it? #baymontbywyndham #keystonehotel #hotelroom #usa🇺🇸
Diana NDiana N
Warning: DETAILED DESCRIPTION.. I have read some of the “bad comments” on many reviews, BUT many are unfair in my opinion. Some people seem to be looking to pay like a 2-star hotel and expect the place to be a 5-star hotel. Let’s be honest, if you’re looking for a cheap place in a tourist location, you will probably find it hard to find an affordable place that will meet ALL of your requirements and expectations. I have a family of 6 in total, and a little hypoallergenic pet, I tried looking to book for one night so we could rest and go visit Mount Rushmore. I hesitated to make a reservation because of some of the bad reviews, but there are 5-star reviews and some 1-star reviews and since nothing else was available to accommodate us and in the price range we were looking for, I decided to give it a shot. I prayed that it would be a good place and wouldn’t disappoint my husband to a point to where he could get upset. I am so thankful I did the reservation here!! The staff was super friendly! We were greeted by a very nice and friendly young woman, who gave us a third floor bedroom that had two queen beds, a pullout bed and a small kitchen. The room was very nice and of a very decent size, with a balcony that had views to the Main Street to Keystone and the beautiful mountains! It was clean, a tiny spot on the carpet (which could be understandable), the bathroom was clean, maybe not perfect like if it was new, but it was clean to our expectations. (We have stayed in MANY hotels throughout the US and I can tell when a hotel is actually bad or decent considering the amount paid.) The beds were comfortable and clean, the room had two TV’s which we didn’t use much but it was nice to have one facing the couch and the other by the beds. It was quiet and having the beautiful pine trees across the street made it even more relaxing. Breakfast was good, they had waffles, cereals, scrambled eggs, sausage, gravy and biscuits along with fruits, coffee and fresh juice. It is a beautiful and busy location where most hotels with higher expectations have much higher prices! I can say overall that this place was more than I expected. A tiny hair in the shower like someone said isn’t going to hurt you, or a little stain on the carpet, or the food not being enough? Hmm… Get up early to eat at a good time when it’s less busy! some people tend to go eat 30 minutes before it’s over and expect everything to be super filled and hot! if you are looking for a perfect hotel that has all the amenities and are wanting to pay less than $200, on a place like Keystone, then this is not for you! Call the hotel in advance if you want to take your cat, or a different pet so you don’t have to deal with an issue like someone else did and give them a bad review because you weren’t diligent about it! I would say for the price we paid, it was above and beyond in every way!! Also, during the time we were getting our stuff loaded in our car right before checkout, my 3-year old son decided to hide our iPad under the pullout sofa bed after I had checked everything, didn’t find out until we were back at our destination almost 5 hours away and then we had to leave back home after a few days, which would put us about 12 hours away. We initially thought we would go back and pick it up, but the time was super tight, so I trusted they would ship it back after I emailed a shipping label. I was nervous about it and it was of course embarrassing but well, we are a big family and simply had to accept the fact that some kids can do the unexpected! I am so thankful Sadie the manager shipped it back to my house, it arrived in one piece, no damage or anything. I certainly appreciate she was so careful with it that she filled the box with newspapers making it tight so it wouldn’t move, she went above and beyond! Just consider this place and know that it will not be excellent or perfect like a 5-star hotel but more than EXCELLENT for the price you’re paying! Couldn’t be more happier and will definitely book here again on our next trip and for more days!

Let me start by saying the star rating is primarily fueled by the staff. The quality of the hotel itself is a soft 3, it was basic, average, nothing that could justify high prices even in a demanding scenario. The pillows were trash which leads to a greater problem I’ll point out further down. Shower curtains made no sense and taking a shower would start to flood the bathroom floor. Toiletries were bare minimum quality. The complementary breakfast was on the lower end of any Ive ever had, which i don’t necessarily place too high of standards on a complimentary breakfast, it was just on the low end comparatively. The tv services were out half the stay. 1 single positive note would be the pool and hot tub area provided towels…that’s always nice. The staff… upon check in, they claimed to not enter the room at all during the stay (which i actually prefer) that if anything was needed to let them know. Well we stayed 3 days 2 nights(9/24/2022-9/26/2022). That second day after the first night, whilst we were out and about, the staff took all of our belongings and reset the room with zero record of doing so. They are supposed to be very thorough in recording everything they do as well as having records of all door key swipes made. Well when we got back and noticed the room made up and all of our stuff missing, we go straight to the front desk and were met with a nonchalant careless attitude that went straight to that’s impossible. They did not care. They simply repeated that it was impossible and dismissed the issue, so i asked for a manager. Nothing. I had to call her out on the fact that she should have a number to call, at that point she did. The manager said the same thing, to her but on speaker phone. She hangs up and says if something is missing, call the cops. So I did. From that point the manager, Casey, avoided me at all cost. Didn’t show up that night with the cops, didn’t show up the next morning when he told the cop he would, wouldn’t answer his phone for me or the cops the next morning, and Casey told the staff to tell me that next morning, that since i called the cops out it was no longer their problem and to deal with the cops!!!! Well the high priced items they took were our two $200 dollars pillows that we brought with us and brought in since theirs were trash. They found them the 3rd day after that second night, just before check out… because it was them that took our stuff of course. Nothing else was recovered though. The pillows weren’t even readily available, but when they finally got them back they owned absolutely none of that mistake, showed zero remorse, no apologies, and still no manager. They were more so seemingly offended and annoyed that i wanted my stuff back. It was pathetic. The cop was just as upset as me because they should never have been called, and the cop pointed out that for a town that survives off tourism, this hotel’s customer service was trash. Casey is the manager of the Ramada there in the same town. Good luck at either location. Don’t leave anything in the room. **The pictures were taken the second day after they claimed it was impossible that they did it

Highly recommend picking a different place. If the management would have handled the circumstances differently, I would have rated them differently. We came back to the room exhausted, turned on the TV to relax, it did not load any channels. I called the front desk, they said they would find someone to look at it and placed me on hold. After roughly 40 min I figured they forgot about me and I hung up. Waiting for a knock on the door, in which never came, I called the front desk back. I was told it was probably a dish issue and was told I could switch a room. With my fellow travelers undressed and resting now, I explained that we would just like someone to look at it (roughly 6:30pm) I was informed that we would either need to switch rooms, or get a discount upon checkout. I asked the receptionist to please make a record of my call for the discount option. Then we lost Wi-Fi. Being that 5 out of 6 of us (2 separate rooms) are from out of the Country, we could not make any calls, conduct business, text, answer, nor write any emails, etc.. ☆Wi-Fi is an absolute must☆ We decided that although the breakfast was good, and the rooms were ok, no TV, or Wi-Fi were enough of a problem that we were going to leave a day early, and find a different place to stay. As a business owner, I understand that being able to communicate via internet is 100% an absolute must. We explained our situation to the front desk. They called the manager. The manager decided to charge us for the 2 rooms even though we were leaving early, and gave us a $10 per room discount for our trouble. Now that was not only a complete and utter act of disrespect, but plain and simple after staying 2 nights with 2 rooms with them already, it was a sheer insult. In all fairness, I wasn't expecting much, possibly allowing us to leave without paying for the rooms for the night we wouldn't be there, or at least only charging us for 1 room for the night we weren't staying there. If a hotel manager cannot understand the importance of having an offered service like internet available, not even to mention a working TV, and to then charge us for 2 rooms that we were not going to be there to use, and on top of it adding the insult of taking $10 off per room for the unused night after we had already stayed for 2 nights, then the hotelchain might look for a more hospitable employee... We paid $540.64 for 2 rooms for 3 nights, and left at 7am after staying only 2 nights. Logic would think they would comp 1 room for 1 night, but offering a $10 discount per room total, was a major fail... I highly reccomend finding a different place to stay where they actually care and where the services they advertise...
