Of course, wouldn't we all like to give perfect reviews about every place we go? We did love this hotel for the convenience and the location.
I met a wonderful woman that ran the front desk by the name of Rhonda and I am sad that I didn't have more time to chat with her because she was such a kind woman and a person that I would have never met if we would not have stayed at the hotel.
As far as the rooms go, it's a standard room. A little old and dated. There's a wall air conditioner, but the biggest disappointment for us was lack of microwave. Sometimes, you want to just toss in a little snack or make something in the room that you don't want to walk to the lobby during the course of your day.
We did get a lot of rain the one day, and our carpet seemed a little damp, but it could have been just from outdoor moisture and a window air conditioner.
I wouldn't shy away from booking this hotel. Customer service from all of their desk staff was wonderful! They were all very kind! The ability just to walk down the street and pop into one of the shops or walk over to the steam train was a bonus!
Be warned the smell of those steak bites are deadly! They waft fantastic garlic smell into your room, and it just makes you want to eat that...
Read moreWe stopped by here today and had one of the strangest encounters with a business that I've ever had. We pulled into the parking lot and planned on going in to see if they had rooms available. Our toddler had made a mess of his snack in the back seat so my husband was cleaning him up when a lady came out the front door and yelled at us from across the parking lot "are you staying here!?" Both our hands were full and honestly we were surprised at being addressed like that so we said "just a second" kind of over our shoulder. Meanwhile our oldest son had gotten car sick and was trying to change out of his shirt in the back of the car, my husband stayed to wait for him and I took our younger ones to look at the stores. I came back a few minutes later to see a man standing inches away from my husband shaking a finger in his face and another lady standing there screaming at him to move his car. Without any preamble, they had come out yelling at him to move his car right away. He said he couldn't because he was waiting for someone to change... cue more yelling and then the guy coming out and getting in his face. Needless to say we won't be staying the night here! I'm still having a hard time processing that any adult could...
Read moreIt was $115 for 2 very comfortable beds with a discount for 2 adults. It wasn't bad but the breakfast wasn't much. It was all the way at the end of town so you got a good view of each side of the street. Scenery was awsome. Everything closes there at 8 or 9 pm at the latest. There is one place that stays open late with food and refreshments but you will pay for it for sure. It's a pizza place. Not rediculous but costly. Like $$ costly. It is at the foothills of Mt. Rushmore. Going out of town when u leave Mount Rushmore, turn right at the red light and it will take you out to an old failed gold mine. You pay a reasonable price for a foot tour of the mine and then a little extra and they will teach you to pan for a few min and give you a bag with promised tiny gold nuggets in it. I don't suggest you ask the man to help you pan the bag you pay for to get the promised gold from. He loses a a bit down in the water so you can go get it yourself. Lol. He's not gonna give you the gold he worked for right? I was covered in gold dust when I left n did not want to wash my clothes at all. It was fun in Keystone. The people "locals" are a little...
