Read moreLocal sit down restaurant in downtown Keystone serves American pub food. We were seated immediately and didn't wait too long for a server to arrive. We did struggle a bit to convey our order to the waiter but everything came out correctly except steamed veggies instead of fries, which he was quick to replace. There were 2 large parties being served so our food was a bit slow and it was a bit loud.
My son's all American hamburger was fine, not overdone but nothing exceptional. He ate it all. My husband's patty melt was good, made correctly. I had salmon because they were out of the trout. It had a great sear and was well cooked - not dried out like restaurants sometimes so, and the asparagus was well charred.
The server couldn't find the craft be menu so we ordered bud and blue moon. My husband's bud has some weird waxy substance on the outside so he gave up on drinking it. The fries were sub par. They looked like they should be really good, like a thin cut steak fry, but they were not very hot and not badly as crispy as they looked, like they'd been sitting out.
My younger son won dinner with the beer cheese mac and cheese with chicken. The chicken was basically nuggets but they were crispy and hot and the beer cheese sauce was really good - we ended up dipping out fries in it, it was so tasty and creamy with a hint of spice.
Prices were reasonable for a tourist town and since we'd been driving for 3 days and it was our first sit down meal in days, overall the experience was fine. And we had a view of the step for good...
Read moreStopped for some lunch on our way out of town. I ordered the spicy burger (that has jalapenos, pepper jack, etc.) and onion rings while my group ordered other items. My burger was pretty good, just spicy enough for me (which, I've been told, isn't very spicy but your mileage may vary), and the onion rings hit the spot. One of our group members made a fairly last-minute request after our order was in for the onion rings we ordered to come out before our meals, and much to our delight, they were able to fulfill the request. The waitress was nice to the best of her abilities, but unfortunately that's where the positives end.
First, our table was undersupplied (no salt & pepper, no silverware, no napkins) but the waitress was able to provide what was missing. Our table wasn't incredibly clean - I've had cleaner at other, cheaper restaurants. Next, the coleslaw my group ordered apparently smelled of "chemicals" -- I didn't smell it myself because I wanted to finish eating lol.
Last, and in my opinion the worst, none of the staff I saw seemed to enjoy their jobs. Maybe I'm idealistic, but plenty of restaurants I've been to have staff that are absolutely thrilled to be working there - the fact that these staffers all seemed to be having a not-so-great day makes me worry about management at the restaurant, and feel the only reason The Front Porch is still open is because of one-time tourist visits.
I do not intend to visit again, though I wish the staff...
