I really can't say anything with regard to the quality of the motel but I can tell you that their sales manager by the name of Jim Sellers should go back to school and decide whether or not customer relationships are important or a weekend of motorcyclists. I am a motorcyclist and have been to Sturgis a number of times. We booked our reservation through the front desk to spend 11 days in the area.
We originally booked through Expedia and found out that their prices were different than what the hotel actually had published on their website so we contacted their front desk and talk to a wonderful gentleman who booked our reservation from July 24 until August 1 as he said the rally starts and I would have to talk to this gentleman about the additional two days.
After talking to the Manager it was quite clear that all it was about was the money. He berated the front office staff for them making the reservation, he said that they had no authority to do so, in the age of computers DUH!
He indicated that he would have to get back to me with regard to a room extension and whether or not I would even get a room or whether or not I would show up and have no reservation.
Imagine that, the hotel reservations being made for Sturgis 75 is being made by one gentleman. I really wonder whether or not anybody actually gets the same price. Anybody who is booked the reservations may want to check as he was really concerned about how many people are going to be in the room.
He also indicated that he noticed that I had a room booked through Expedia, and that they would not be accepting any reservations made through Expedia and were going to be canceling them. Imagine that, you make your reservation for Expedia, they immediately billed me $2600 for that reservation and he has the gall to say they were not going to be accepting those would be canceling.
So what I'm telling America is simply this... Find another hotel. This man cares nothing about his customers only that he can make a few more hundred dollars on the Rally during a one week time. out of 52 weeks during the year. I understand that, I'm willing to pay it but I'm not willing to be told that I'm some kind of an idiot nor that after I paid $2600 to American Express that they will be canceling that reservation through Expedia. Seems to me he's failed to do hisjob on multiple fronts.
I fully understand Sturgis because I stayed in my motorcoach at the Sturgis RV park each time I have been there. However when you're on vacation or you want to make almost 2 weeks worth of reservations and they're only interested in gouging you for a couple nights. It still seems to me that they could have been nicer with regard to how they are handling it ends in today's world of computers, wonder if this guy is still using a pad of paper and a pencil.
Seems to me that greed has taken over and if this organization is that greedy that they are interested in canceling an already confirmed reservation and then disrespecting the front office staff indicating the front desk had no authority to make a reservation, this guy needs to go back to the convenience store and work the check out rather than acting like he is the general manager of the hotel.
Now I know this is harsh, and he has a right to not like what I've said but I also have a right to say it and when you start telling customers that you won't honor reservations that Expedia's already made... Is it no wonder this country Is in the state it is in. You can even depend on a man's word nor can you depend upon a confirmed reservation that they have already billed your credit card
Also, If you have a reservation, you may want to consider showing up at this hotel and being told that you do not have a reservation and you have driven or rode days to get to Sturgis and this yahoo says we don't have a room for you or the rates changed since you book your room... it'll be an additional $250 a night, Thank you very...
Read moreNeeded to stay the night on Oct 16, 2015. Tried calling on the 14th to make a reservation and "Scott" said he was busy checking people in, could we call back later. We called back later and received an "all circuits are busy" message. We called again on the 15th and spoke with Scott and he refused to take a reservation saying that there were plenty of rooms and that we could just show up. We tried calling on Friday as we were arriving late and received the "all circuits are busy" message again. We showed up Friday, the 16th after being assured they were not closed for the season on Thursday, and at the base of the driveway to the hotel was a blockade that had closed all over it. We then spent another 1 1/2 hours searching for a hotel that had availability and took dogs, ending up going to Rapid City to be able to do so. If you are going to close your hotel for the season, then do it and publicize it as other hotels in the area do. Do not lie to potential guests stating you are open when you are not. Will never try to stay at this hotel again, and recommend that you find another place to stay that you know will be open...
Read moreStaff was very friendly. We wanted an extra pillow and the gal ran to get one for us. My niece locked herself out of their room and they gave us a key to open right away no random charge.
Rooms were the biggest, queen bed room had a bit more floor space and double room beds took up most of space. Beds, mattresses and sheets were clean (no stains or bed bugs hooray!) Bathrooms were stocked with many towels and was very clean. Full closet but only 2 hangers.
Microwave and mini fridge with small freezer shelf. AC kicked butt on thee hot days. TV was outdated but we didnt use it. Pool was nice. Hot tub was not hot and was not cleaned well. That would be our only complaint.
Location was perfect if you want to walk to many attractions, wax museum, adventure park, 1880 train. Short drive to Rapid city reptile garden, mystery cosmos, and country bear USA. Mall strip with local stores and food. Short drive to Mt Rushmore and Crazy...
