I had an incredibly disappointing stay at the Quality Inn in Keystone, SD. Despite its convenient location on the main downtown strip, the hotel was in severe disrepair and not worth the high price, especially considering the newer, better options just down the block.
Check-in took over half an hour, leaving my wife and kids waiting in the truck. The parking was a nightmare, especially with a big SUV—it was like trying to park an aircraft carrier in a compact car spot.
The hotel itself is very outdated. We were given a room on the third floor, which had a strange smell. The first room was unbearable with a foul odor, and while the second room was slightly better, it still had an unpleasant food smell. The room was in disrepair, with a ridiculously loud bathroom fan that would wake everyone up, even with shims jammed in to try and quiet it down. The toilet clogged easily, and the sink was poorly placed, right in sight of the beds, ensuring you’d wake up your family if you needed to use it at night.
The bed was horrible, offering no support and causing severe discomfort. I couldn’t sleep on my back, sides, or stomach without pain and only got a couple of hours of sleep, waking up with a stiff neck. Even my kids complained about the beds.
The suite had a porch, but it wasn’t private, and we found our neighbors right next to us. We couldn’t leave the drapes open because anyone on the porch could see in, and the sliding door locks were insecure and could easily be opened from the outside.
The breakfast was awful and very basic. The coffee was from a dispenser that mixed concentrate with hot water, and it tasted terrible.
I’m concerned that fake reviews may have misled me into booking this hotel. I strongly recommend staying away from the Quality Inn in Keystone, SD. It’s not worth the hassle...
Read moreFirst off, the layout of the parking lot is horrible. Our vehicle stuck out into the street for over 20 minutes while another guest blocked access to any parking spaces. Our room did not have a coffee maker and I had to practically beg for the desk clerk to find one. When checking in, we were told that if there wasn't a space available we could park down the road (but only during certain times)and walk back. Meanwhile, you had a tour bus parked on the lot that was taking up 8 spaces. I was able to find a space on the main lot to park but when I came outside the next morning I noticed a scratch on my vehicle from the white car that was parked next to me. My husband had to climb thru our vehicle to get to the driver's seat because the other driver had parked too close. I went inside to report the damage to the desk clerk, only to learn that it was his vehicle. How is it that tour buses and hotel staff are allowed to park on the main lot but your guests are made to park elsewhere?
The room was small, the bathroom was tiny. You almost have to stand in the shower to close the bathroom door. The window opened to a shear cliff wall. I felt like I was in a cave. The internet did not work, and the staff did not know how to fix it.
I've stayed in many Choice hotels. And I have to say, I will not be staying in this one ever again. I expected better from your brand. I expected better for the price I paid...
Read morePlace is nice for something simple but there is a few things that don't sit well with me that would make me reconsider staying somewhere else next time. First is the parking situation lower level is ok but if you park on the second level is it tight especially if you have a bigger vehicle. Then to get to the second level you have to drive up a very steep ramp and going down is nerve racking to cause there is a small part of sidewalk then the main road. Secondly, the shower in rooms take forever to get lukewarm but not hot then after I took my shower the faucet was slightly coming off from the wall and kept dripping the whole time during our stay. Thirdly, to me I know it not too serious with this area but the rooms can be easily accessed if you have a room outside which I did so anyone could walk up from the street to my room and I didn't notice much security cameras in the parking lot/outside room areas only inside by the front desk area. Lastly, went to use the pool they have which is indoors which sounded nice until I went for a swim and the water was ice cold no heat at all. Could only swim for 10 minutes before I got out cause it wasn't enjoyable. In general this place is nice for something simple and basic if by yourself or with one other person. But I did see other options before heading to this area if I decided to come back I would look into...
