My husband and I recently stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Kokomo for 3 nights and, unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. My stay was marred by a series of issues that highlighted significant gaps in the hotel's service.||From the outset, there was an unpleasant smell in our room upon check-in on the first night. The hotel staff did respond promptly and sprayed the room with a freshener, but this was merely a temporary fix. Despite agreeing to forgo cleaning on the following day, we returned late on the second night to find the smell had worsened, particularly around the bed closest to the window. I had to use my personal perfume to mask the odor.||On the morning of our departure, I requested the front desk clerk to have our room cleaned and left a note specifically asking for air freshener to be used around the affected area. To my dismay, upon returning around 11 pm that night, the room had not been cleaned at all. Francesca, a staff member who came to address the issue, was very apologetic. She acknowledged the smell, provided fresh towels, and removed the used towels and trash. Although she offered a complimentary breakfast as compensation, it was too little too late for us at that point.||When checking out the following day at 11 am, I spoke with the front desk clerk who had handled our cleaning request. She admitted there might have been an error but could not offer a clear explanation. I requested that my receipt be emailed to me. However, when I followed up with a call at 5:25 pm, no receipt had been sent. Brian, the manager, eventually sent the receipt after initially claiming my email wasn't in the system, which seemed more like an attempt to cover up the associate's mistake. We stayed in 4 other Marriott properties in the last 13 days of our vacation and receipts are emailed to me within seconds after I checked out.||The Courtyard Kokomo's handling of our stay was disappointing on several fronts:|1) The hotel should have offered to move us to a different room when the odor issue was first reported.|2) There needs to be a more reliable system to track and ensure that special requests, like room cleaning after a two-night stay, are fulfilled.|3) Staff who make errors in handling requests and administrative tasks should receive proper training to prevent similar issues in the future.|I hope this review serves as a useful guide for future guests and prompts the Courtyard Kokomo to address these concerns. For anyone considering staying here, be sure to closely monitor your requests and address any issues promptly to avoid similar...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here for a family reunion arriving on June 30, 2016 to July 3, 2016. We checked in from a long day of travel from Georgia around 7 or 7:30 pm. Our requested room was not available on the ground floor other than a hearing impaired room; however, we declined that room after checking it out due to a foul odor and reported that to the front desk; so we got room 214 on the second floor. Upon entering the room, a lingering odor of cigarette smoke was noticeable; however, it was “masked” by some type of cleaning product that the sense of smell picked up. We initially thought it was probably coming from another room because it was much stronger in the bathroom, where we also discovered the toilet didn’t flush. The front desk clerk came up and said the toilet lever had come undone and fixed it. I mentioned to her then if she could smell the lingering smoke and she said yes. We picked up some air fresheners to help with eliminating the smoking smell. Later after getting out of the shower, I discovered that all the “clean” towels and shower curtains hanging in the bathroom reeked of cigarette smoke and there was a puddle of water behind the toilet that wasn’t there before. I went to the front desk with the towels to voice my disappointment and notify them about the water leak from the toilet and explained that I wanted to speak with management in the morning. After talking with the Manager Joshua the next morning, he was very responsive in getting the shower curtain changed and maintenance to come “fix” the toilet. However the next day, the toilet was still leaking, which I informed front desk; they sent up maintenance and he stated that he “tighten the bolts which should slow the leak, but the tank itself needs replacing and he will inform his supervisor”. Reference the smoke smell, we discovered our clothing that hung on the rack by the bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke and ruin the reunion dinner for us. I did not attend, however, my wife did but she returned early as family member asked if she had “started smoking”, which she was very disappointed to hear. There were some positive comments about this hotel as listed on my comment card I left the management (see attached photos for a copy of the comment card and the other major issues that did not get proper corrective action as expected by a paying customer, including the clock that don’t display the...
Read moreWell I went there for a family reunion it is remodeled and look very nice! So I had a king suite I wake up the next morning my children on the sleeper sofa covered with ants! So I called the front desk and they moved me to a smaller room with a king bed and sleeper sofa in a small area. So when we checked out I asked about being inconvenienced with the ant problem and they informed me that no manager was there and to call Monday morning. So I called this morning and spoke with a manager it was 2 there I think one was corporate and 1 was general. So I left a message they was in a meeting so 1 of them called me back I forgot her name but the other manager I talked to later said her name was Bambi Rowe(don't believe she was named after a deer🤔🤔🤔) but anyway I explained to her what happened and she told me that " She spooked to her staff when it happened and told them to give me a $20 discount" now remember they moved me to a smaller room so I was charged the going rate for the smaller room so then I repeated the problem and explained my kids worked up with ants all over them not 1 or 2 ants but at least 40 of them all in the bed. And she told me I can get another 20 off so now I am shocked so I said if your child woke up with ants crawling on them you would be ok with 20. She said yes! Now I am driving my car and on speaker through the car she says stop yelling at me I am not yelling I am driving talking through the radio. So this heifer hangs up on me! I called back and front desk put somebody else on the phone the other manager and she asked what i wanted her to do I was caught off guard so I say give me a hundred twenty off so she says she going to give me 10,000 points. So I was just lost! So I said ok what's the other lady name. And that's when she said bambi. Now 1st I love Marriott been dealing with them for over 20 years I always liked their hotels and service. 2nd they could have handled this better than that. When I stayed at the holiday in Express and the air conditioner went out in the middle of the night. They have me the night free and 5000 reward points and asked us everyone ok. I can't believe this but this is the reality of the trump world attitude. Although remodeled nice don't go there if it's a problem management...
