Home2 Suites by Kokomo was one of the worst hotel experiences my family has ever had. My family stays at all Hilton brands whenever we travel, so we have a good basis for comparison. This hotel from the beginning fell short of what we have come to expect of Hilton brand hotels. The only positive experience we had was the late night front desk staff. They were cordial and really helped us with our late arrival. We informed them we might check out sooner than booked since we were traveling with a team, and we were told as long as we inform them ahead of time, we won’t get charged for those nights. Will update.
Our first issue was the blinds in room did not function on multiple nights, which meant wake up call as soon as the sun came up—as our room faced the sunrise. I asked to fix them and someone did, but the next day. Same issue. I gave up after that. Love technology, but not having a manual system to close blinds was frustrating.
The free hotel breakfast was descent but during our stay, they ran out of bacon three times. Not sure who is in charge of ordering, but needs to be reassessed. Moreover, when I asked if we could get some more, the breakfast attendant immediately looked to her watch since breakfast ended at 9:00 AM. It was 8:45 AM. I would like to see hotel staff be willing to help guests, not check their watch to get out of extra work. Not a good look.
Our next issue was the water was shut off one day during our stay for three hours with zero notice. When I asked front desk staff, they informed me it was going to be shut off from 11am-1pm. We were also told that we were informed with a note under our door. We traveled with a team so we had roughly 10 rooms, no one was informed. I get it, situations come up, and can be fixed with proper notification of guests—give us a chance to plan ahead. So my family and I had to leave the hotel that day with no shower. Not to mention, the toilets weren’t working so we had to go the restaurant across the street to use the bathroom. Very frustrating situation.
My next issue was with the hotel front desk staff. The day staff was constantly inconsiderate as if every request we had was an inconvenience to them. I don’t want to speak of all front desk staff, some were good. Our room was not once cleaned during our six night stay. I didn’t read the hotel policy, so maybe we had to request that. Seems odd for how long our stay was. We had to go to front desk for towels and toilet paper multiple times.
Lastly, minor thing, but not minor in the grand scheme of things. Details matter. Worked out four times in the fitness center and twice, not one clean towel.
Overall, very rough experience at this location. I don’t recommended staying here. As a long time Hilton Honors member, we will never stay here again. Hilton really needs to assess management at this location and fix many issues. Maybe they had a bad week, we all do, but being cordial and helpful to guests should be an “all the time” thing.
Hope this helps someone avoid a terrible experience. But truthfully, I hope Hilton can take this honest feedback and fix the issues so others can enjoy this location more than we did. We have two more night at this hotel. Will update when we check out.
UPDATE: Hotel management did offer me one free night for our troubles. That was appreciated. Moved up...

Read moreI called 3 weeks ahead to request conjoining rooms. The person that took my reservation did not do the booking correctly and it has been a nightmare. I called the morning of our reservation (4/6) to ask if we could do early check in only to be informed that not only were the rooms not conjoining but the best they could do was to get us on the same floor but the rooms would be on opposite ends of the hallway. I explained to them that this was not acceptable as I was traveling with minors and couldn’t have them unsupervised. I then had to call around and find new accommodations. Once I found a hotel that could accommodate I called and spoke with the hotel to cancel my reservation. When I called to cancel the rooms the person I spoke with did not say anything about a late cancellation policy. To my surprise about an hour later I had 2 pending charges to my bank account totaling $561. I called the Hilton honors line as well as the local hotel to be told there was nothing they could do and I had to speak to the manager on Monday. I called Monday morning and left a voicemail and have not received a phone call back. I have now been charged overdraft charges from my bank account as the money that I had was already used to pay for the rooms that I had to book at another hotel. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced with a...
