Le amo Mi Familia! It's my favorite place for Mexican-American food. I have a Mexican-American friend who moved here from Austin, Texas and she thinks it's fantastic too, so that tells me that it's close to authentic. Another good indicator is that I see many Latino families eating here.
My favorite dishes are Cancun Special, which is grilled chicken, onions, and peppers in a creamy cheese sauce, and Chori pollo, which is grilled chicken breast smothered in chorizo, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese sauce. Their rice and their beans are delicious. They make great Margaritas, and have a daily drink special. I LOVE their salsa and could drink it straight from the little serving bottle.
The atmosphere is vivid and lively, and every chair and booth in the restaurant features a uniquely carved and brightly colored depiction of Mexico. They're beautiful, and interesting and provide a great conversation topic. The building is much larger than it appears, with three dining areas plus a bar. The restrooms are clean, easily accessible, and have really neat sinks - they are carved/hollowed pieces of tree trunks.
The staff is fantastic. They're very friendly without being suffocating, they're quick, and they're efficient. I've never had a complaint about anything and I've been coming here for years.
As you can tell, I'm a huge fan, and I'll keep coming here for as long as...
Read moreFood was okay. The four of us were seated in the back room. Why, there were many open booths and tables we walked past. Took 15 min to get a waiter. We ate half the chips and drank our sodas. After 5 minutes I went after a waiter and could not find one. Back at the table, ten minutes later a waiter appeared. I went to him and ask for drink refills. Never did bring them. Another five minutes later the food arrived, but no silverware. Got up again to find a waiter with no success. We are the only people in the room. A man with a mop and bucket came in. Got up and ask if he can get our waiter. He returned with our silverware. After we ate we still had not seen our waiter. Ten minutes later I went looking for a waiter and couldn't find one. Went back and learned he dropped off the bill 30 seconds before I returned. My meal automatically came with guacamole which was not there. They charged us for six drinks, we only had 4, three guacamole, only had 1, three extra cheese sauce, only had one. Waited at checkout ten minutes before anyone showed up. Had argue over each over charge. Finally he provided a receipt, still over charged us $4. Getting very upset I paid the bill and left before I called the cops. Will never go there again and don't recommend...
Read moreThis place is in NO WAY AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD!!!! This guacamole was from a can as well as the beans and salsa from a jar. I asked the server if the food was authentic and with a straight face lied in my face with a astounding yes. My buddy ordered a combo plate consisting of a tamale ,taco and enchilada ALL MICROWAVE FOOD. Do y'all remember tamales in a can. Well that was better than this mess. I ordered carne asada and it was just a flat steak grilled no flavor. I hate to say it folks and no disrespect but this place is catering to the Caucasian folks in this town. I see why it's atmosphere is very bright and cheery. I am sure the drinks are great. But honestly this was a disappointment, because everywhere else we have in eaten in town was just fabulous and worth going back. If you don't know, WELL NOW YOU KNOW. I ain't know Keith Lee but being Hispanic and growing up in the lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas. I know real Mexican food and this place is not it. I do not think they honestly cook...
