Stayed with my boyfriend who travels here OFTEN with his company. It is a very nice hotel but you learn alot when you are "living" there and are wandering the hotel during the day. The manager, Marilyn, is WONDERFUL and I get the impression she is the glue holding the place together because hearing how the staff talks about the owner it certainly isn't her. Marilyn is a sweetheart, helpful, and literally all over the hotel helping her workers. I have seen her at the front desk, mopping the lobby floor, emptying trash cans and even helping the maids with rooms! The owner, Tricia, who I spoke with twice, yet saw daily, just sits at her desk all day. Besides having the personality of white bread she knows little about her hotel and staff. I have seen the front desk buried in check-ins and instead of helping out she will close the door to her office! When i asked one of the girls why she doesn't help I was told that she doesn't know how to and refuses to learn. What owner of a company doesn't know everything about their business! Lets not forget that while everyone else wears a uniform the owner is walking around in leggings and t-shirts that are a size too small, hardly professional.
The housekeepers do an incredible job and the three I spoke with, Dee, Tyler and Tiffany were so nice. Breakfast was great and Cindy does a great job. Front Desk Staff was mostly fantastic. Amber, Krista and Michelle are always ready with a smile, friendly word or suggestion but there is always a bad seed right? That would be Libby, the overnight lady. She obviously works overnights because it is the shift with the least guest interaction! She has to be the most unfriendly, rudest, laziest worker I ever met. We are night owls and let me just say that women spends most of her shift sitting in a corner watching shows on her phone compared to the nights she is off and one of the other girls is working. They are folding laundry, mopping, dusting, etc. If you ask for anything she very rudely sighs and literally tells you to come down because she can't leave her desk and hangs up on you. When my boyfriend and his coworkers get back from working all day they order dinner, sit around a big table in the lobby eating, having a beer and chatting. She has told them they are being too loud and bothering guests and even told them they cannot be in the common areas after 11pm per hotel policy! 1. None of the other front desk staff ever complained about the guys and in fact chat and joke with them. 2. I asked and there is no such policy. 3. No policy is posted. 4. These are older guys who just worked 10 hours, hardly rowdy. Hate to say mean things about people but Libby is useless and does nothing to hide her contempt for people. Only way to describe her is a pompous narcissist who talks to everyone like they are kindergarteners.
I would say its a nice hotel because of most of the staff, it is just a shame that the one reaping the benefits doesn't appreciate her staff. I look forward to seeing what will happen when the 2 new hotels open up in Kokomo. I know Marriot has already talked to my boyfriend's company about getting their business. I think this hotel's days...
Read moreI would not stay here again, probably never stay at La Quinta again. We arrived late and there was a line at registration, because that ONE employee was the ONLY employee there. Got to our room and it had not been cleaned: bed sheets/pillowcases and bath towels were used. The worst part, someone tried to make it look like it had and left their card asking for a tip! Hair in the bed and make up on pillowcases and towels don’t lie. We when to the desk to get a different room, had to wait for the employee because ( he told us ) he had other rooms that needed to cleaned. He said he had one more room to clean and then he could clean our room. Because it was after 9pm, we took clean linens and changed the beds ourselves. After breakfast we stopped at the front desk to make sure what happened had been communicated and let knew about other rooms, but not ours. WTF! At no point did any employee of either shift ever say they were sorry or apologize. Although they did share their frustrations with their housekeeping staff. Final observation, as we were leaving the next morning there were plenty of staff, housekeeping and otherwise. So no excuses. Plenty of other...
Read moreA friend and I stopped overnight on the way home after a training session farther north in Indiana at this LaQuinta in Kokomo IN. I booked the room thru Expedia and paid thru them in advance. We checked in sometime after 7 PM, went to dinner at 8, returned at 10 PM and checked out at 10 AM the next morning. |At check in I was asked for a credit card for incidentals and maybe a damage deposit? |After check out I completed a survey. There were 2 groups staying there, s school soccer tournament group and people from a dog show. Place was clean and staff was pleasant. |Next day (Sunday) or maybe Monday, I was looking at bills and noticed an $87 charge from the hotel. It was not itemized. Expedia called the hotel, they said the extra charge was for the use of the laundry and not refundable. We did not use the laundry and out room cards were not w away from us at any time. Expedia was informed that they do not do refunds. Someone screwed up and now I intend to contact Whyndom who owns LaQuinta. Wish me luck and my suggestion is do NOT...
