Received a call from this hotel around 9:30PM on the day of check in stating that they cancelled my reservation and had no availability so I could not re-book. They suddenly left me without a place to stay on a Saturday night with most affordable hotels already fully booked. This caused me a lot of stress.
The man on the phone was constantly interrupting me for a full minute as I was attempting to explain to him that the times he had called earlier in the day, the phone call showed up on my phone as from "HMHI", not Days Inn. He then proceeded to hang up on me. Apparently if you book with Wyndham rewards points they cancel your reservation at 9PM if they can't contact you during the day. Guests should be made aware of this when the reservation is made. I was never informed of it. Having never heard of this kind of policy before, I believe it's in violation of Wyndham's policies. Wyndham has been notified.
He had called 2-3 times but did not leave any voice mails. I get several spam calls per day so I assumed it was spam. Legitimate callers almost always leave voice mails. I finally returned the call after I happened to notice it was a Kokomo number. That's when he told me my reservation was cancelled and the hotel was full.
I'm a Wyndham Diamond member and stay at Wyndham hotels frequently. This is the first time in my life I have experienced a hotel cancelling a reservation for no apparent reason. And it left me with nowhere to stay on a busy weekend evening.
Fortunately, Wyndham's Diamond Concierge line was able to rebook at the same hotel. I was delayed by about half an hour being on the phone with them. The hotel told me they had no availability for me to re-reserve but magically they had availability when Wyndham called. The hotel did not look fully booked when I arrived shortly thereafter. Both rooms next to mine were completely quiet all night. Which leads to the conclusion the man from the hotel was lying when he told me they had no availability.
After walking around the room, I happened to glance at my feet to discover a black residue all over my feet from the floor. Wear your socks when you sleep here!
Not only is this the first time I have ever experienced the surprise cancellation issue but it's also the first time I have ever experienced black residue on my feet from walking on a hotel room floor. And I routinely stay at Super 8s and Days Inns.
The pros: Night desk attendant is genuinely helpful, friendly, and welcoming. I felt bad that she worked at this hotel. If she owned the hotel, I'm sure she would resolve both of these issues so they don't happen to future guests. There were no bugs in the room although there was some kind of grit/debris along the base of some walls and even in the sink. And they have a good security system and watch their cameras carefully so your car is very safe...
Read moreDo not stay here. |Reserved a suite for the weekend, two nights. First, I was called the day before our planned arrival. I was offered a different room because there were no suites available. I am totally amenable to a non suite, but two beds were still needed. He kept offering me two separate rooms - for myself and 2 people under 18. I persisted that that would be okay, but only if they were adjoined or just one room with two beds. I felt like I had to push that we were not going to be separated. Only needed one room, two beds. The man finally agreed and that was that. |Upon arrival, the suite was available. Plans back on as planned. So wrong. |Arrived to the motel to check in, given directions to the suite : from the front desk, go around the back of their poorly lit parking lot, up the stairs, across a breezeway, and down quite a bit from the car. I asked for something closer to the car for safety and they said this was all they had available. Made our way to the suite, the door is wide open, the room is dark. I have a personal safety device well versed in using it, so I enter, turned on lights only to find complete filth. Urine on the sheets. Dirt and debris everywhere on the floor. The couch is covered in stains and filth. Don't even get me started on the odor.|Make our way back to the front desk. I tell them no way I'm staying in that room with a door that doesn't latch, the filth, and the stains. Urine marks were on the sheets. The employee walked me to the first suite to see what I was talking about. As if I could make this up.|By another miracle there's another suite available and it's closer to the stairs. The beds are clean enough in the 2nd suite and we were exhausted from driving. The rest of the place was just as filthy. Thankfully I had cleaning supplies in my car, because the toilet and tub were atrocious with reminents of other people's bodily functions still on the toilet. We intended this to be a two night stay, was only there for one night. We cancelled our plans and checked out before noon.|I honestly cannot believe Wyndham has any association with this facility. |I have worked in service my whole life. From hotels, to restaurants, and in healthcare for 20 years. I do not make negative posts ever. But I seriously cannot shake the feels I got from being pushed/offered to be put in two separate rooms to the sudden availability of the two different suites, the first of which did not have a working door latch. |Head on a swivel ladies. Head on a swivel.|Pictures included with this review.|Reviews on Google are either same as mine or glowing 5 star reviews - likely from those...
Read moreFor how expensive this hotel was, I was expecting at least a decent room. The wallpaper is falling off the walls, everything is old and run down. The first room we were in, the veneer on the side of the island was gone and the ceiling fan in the bathroom was ridiculously loud. We would have lived with it, but then we realized the bathroom door was a pocket door and it wouldn't budge. When we brought it to the staff's attention, they said, "Well if guests don't tell us about it, we don't know to fix it." Baloney. That's what room inspections are for. When we complained about the room, they took us to two other rooms to choose from. One had a similarly stuck bathroom door. The other room, the bathroom door worked, but the smoke detector was chirping, indicating the battery was dead. (Again, monthly inspections and scheduled battery changes would help.) We asked for a battery and the housekeeping staff said, "We'll have to track down a key to maintenance." Finally they produced a key. My husband replaced the battery. I told my kids to only get out what they absolutely needed and to not open their suitcases any more than necessary. We packed all the dirty laundry up separately and washed it ASAP when we got home, just to make sure no unwanted travelers came with us. I didn't even want to look at the mattresses for bed bugs, considering the general maintenance of the place... Maybe better to be ignorant. The one bright and shining moment of our stay- they had a pretty fair breakfast. There were bagels, toast, cereal and make-your-own waffles available. The juice was good too. There was no protein, unless you count cream cheese. I was very thankful that the food was stored properly, the eating area was clean and you could tell the staff had at least tried to make it nice. One last note... I've stayed at a $40/night motel, which I promised myself we would never do again. This one was just as bad, only it cost us over $100! And we passed by residents on our way to breakfast- not fellow travelers, but residents. I thought, "I hope they at least aren't being charged...
