Arrowhead Lake Inn||||To begin with, I realize that in today’s standards $250.00 a night is an average cost for a hotel room (or bed and breakfast) especially around the Christmas holiday. That being said, one still expects a certain level of cleanliness and organization. We arrived exactly at the check-in time of the Arrowhead Lake Inn. I opened the door to the lobby only to find an elderly man fully asleep on the sofa, and he was snoring. There was nobody at the desk, and so I waited for a few minutes because I saw a security camera and figured that someone would show up since it was check in time. After about 10 minutes of nothing happening, I went back outside where my mother was waiting with her dog. After another ten minutes I went back inside to the same situation as earlier. I woke the older man up thinking maybe he was the owner, and he told me he wasn’t, but told me that I should look in one the rooms where the woman in charge might be cleaning. I found her and she followed me back to the lobby only to figure out that the room for us was not cleaned yet. She told us to walk around a bit until she could clean it. She reassured us that she would be quick and it would be cleaned well. After almost an hour she announced that the room was ready. From the first look at the room it looked acceptable enough, but upon closer inspection, we could tell that she didn’t clean it very well. The floor felt like she might have swept it at best. (it felt like there was dirt or sand on the floor) The toilet bowl was not clean and the bathroom mirror was streaked. I checked my email on my laptop while sitting on my bed, and after getting up I noticed that just from sitting on it, the fitted sheet and mattress cover came completely off the mattress because everything was worn out and old. The fitted sheet was so thin that I could see through it and there was no elasticity left to make it stay. I was determined then not to tell her, because at this point I knew that it wasn’t going to get better. I decided to sleep on top of the comforter, covered with a blanket. When I unfolded the blanket the next morning, I could tell it wasn’t cleaned. It was disgusting! The pillows are horrible and I regret not bringing my own. In my opinion, a few new sheets and pillows won’t break the bank and it would make a huge difference. I didn’t want to stay, but had no choice. I have sleep issues anyway so I knew that that I would not sleep, and I was right. The neighbors right next door were very loud, and the walls are very thin. They had some little kids who were very loud after 10 PM and they did nothing to quiet them down. ||The next morning I went to the lobby to see what was for breakfast, which was included, but the door was locked. I just stood there and shook my head. We decided to go elsewhere because at this point we didn’t expect much anyway. My mom tried to make coffee in the room only to find out that the filter basket for the coffeemaker was not there. She tried to make coffee without it, and found that the Styrofoam cup had a hole and leaked coffee everywhere. I decided to take a risk and try to take a shower. Once I selected the perfect temperature, I was happy that at least that was going to be ok. Until…. I grabbed my towel and saw that it was wrinkled but didn’t care, until I looked down and could see several very long hairs on the side of the tub which came from the towel. Now I felt like I needed another shower…. My mom refused to shower. I should have read the reviews first, then I would have known what I was to expect…. That’s why I’m writing mine so that others won’t expect much if they choose to stay here. I don’t wish ill will on anyone, but I really think this place deserves to be presented...
Read moreWe went there on 12/26 when the snow had been quite heavy and the entire driveway and parking lot was filled with snow. When we checked in, we were unable to open the hotel room door. To which the cleaning lady responded that she would reflect to the owner and that for now, we would have to do our best to open the jammed door on our own. We returned to the hotel at night after our ski trip, and found the parking lot (which only has four car spaces) entirely filled. We tried to reach the front office but there were no workers available. Hence we contacted the customer service via the phone. In our first phone call, the customer service person told us that there is another driveway a few minutes away, where we could drive up and park the car there. We circled the car a few times, finally found the entirely unlit, icy and hilly driveway which our tiny Minicooper has no way of making it up. We called the customer service person again, who proceeded to tell us that "if our cars could make it, why couldn't yours?" We were taken aback by her attitude towards us and asked "why would you question your customer?", to which she responded "you're lucky we even picked up the phone call." We tried to ask for a refund, saying that there was no way we could have spent the night there without a parking spot. Instead of empathizing with our situation, another customer service person on the phone victim blamed us, asking why didn't we cancel earlier so they could have recruited another customer to stay in our room. It was amusing to me that they would say that, given that we did not anticipate the hotel to run out of parking spaces to adequately accommodate their customers and that it would have such bad service to the point that we could not receive help when we needed it. In fact, we were not the only ones who encountered this situation. An old couple ran into the same situation as we did. While we were "fortunate" enough to be able to drive back home that same night under two hours, that couple was forced to park their car in a private lot nearby in order to stay, while risking a parking ticket or even having their car towed. We are attempting to refund this hotel stay. I did not receive the service I had expected with my purchase at the Arrowhead Lake Inn. We did not receive any of the services that I was guaranteed- a parking spot, a place to stay at night, customer support to help us when we...
Read moreMy husband and I have been to this establishment three times and for those three times it was a quaint, cute little place that charmed us and inspired us to return. This last time, however, I could not be more disappointed. I made a reservation via their website a full two months prior to our stay. When I received the email confirmation that our stay was booked, it had a disclaimer to call the establishment to confirm booking. I thought that a little odd, as I had the email and it had all the pertinent information of my stay and a confirmation number. But I went ahead and called to confirm. The lady on the phone was able to confirm my appointment, however, so I thought nothing of it. The day of our stay came. It was my husband and my 10th wedding anniversary. We had stayed at Arrowhead Lake Inn in the Romantique Room the first night we got married. We had hiked a good six miles that day and were ready for showers followed by a dinner at Stone Creek Bistro (which I highly recommend, by the way; that place is fabulous). But when we went into the lobby there was no one there. I end up calling the listed number for a woman to come and check us in. She said she wasn’t expecting anyone else to check in that day so we must have just booked. I told her this wasn’t so, and pulled up the confirmation letter on my phone to show her. She only wanted my name. My name, however, wasn’t listed on her screen, and she couldn’t look me up by the confirmation number. The room I had booked was already taken by someone else. Although this mistake may not have been her fault, she was not helpful at all, and gave me no explanation as to why this happened. When I told her that the charge was made on my credit card, she told us there would be a refund in five to seven business days. This was THE MANAGER of the establishment, and she told me if I had any qualms as to email the establishment, but I do not know who reads or answers that email. I still do not know why this happened. Why, when I book a room and are charged for said room, that when I show up it is not available for me. I have emailed the establishment and received no response. I am now in the process of disputing the charge with my credit card company. I will sadly not return to this establishment, as I cannot be guaranteed to receive services for...
