Oh my goodness what an amazing experience. The owner of the store is so helpful, intelligent, and knowledgeable about her products. I had many questions about a variety of things all over the store and she was able to educate me and help me find what I wanted without being condescending or rude. All of these reviews saying she's rude.... I can tell you're tourists. Probably from the valley. The sense of entitlement these people have is LUDICROUS.
Which brings me to my experience today. Owner? Brilliant. I'll come back when I have the money to buy what I really want. The patrons? Jesus Christ.... First of all, the front door says "do not touch anything, no photography, please ask for assistance." Then you get inside and there are clear, black and white labels, on EVERYTHING, saying "DO NOT TOUCH!! ASK FOR ASSISTANCE!!!" Just as clear to understand as the crystals they sell.
There's a display, elevated beyond any child's reach, that says again "DO NOT TOUCH!! SERIOUSLY, THIS IS DEADLY!" And what would you know? Some entitled woman and her snotty kid touched it. I think the dad was holding the kid up and allowed him to touch it. The owner informed him to stop and that could kill, which is when they blew up on her!! They said "he's 5 he can't read!" I'm sorry, but what 5 year old can't understand no? You're the parent, it's your job to read. Anyways they blew up on her and she was still smiling and polite despite them literally insulting her and her business. She asked them to leave, very kindly, and to even have a good day. The spoiled brat of a mother told her "I'm gonna leave a bad review!!" And then again insulted her. I laughed and right as I was about to intervene, the couple left.
Excuse you!! She does not get paid enough to deal with you. She does not get paid enough to be held liable for YOU not reading the signs. They're the same kind of people who argue with the towing guy saying "I didn't see the sign you need to move it!!" When it's right in front of them.
Oh and BTW, I've included a picture of what the kid touched. Tell me that's not CRYSTAL CLEAR?! Another patron was able to take this picture after getting permission from the owner.
I hope those people come to write their "bad review" and see this. You should be embarrassed because the rest of us had a full conversation about it...
Read moreStore has an interesting inventory of fossils, minerals and lapidary jewelry. The original owner used to give me a discount on the few natural mineral samples he sometime stocked, but he has passed away. Everything is overpriced by 2-3 times its actual value. New owners are kind of pretentious and don't really know the factual details of what things are. They quote values of some of the fossils that are just absurd, and knowledge of minerology is minimal. Signage is super pretentious. Very new age store touting the bogus emanations and healing powers of what are just rocks. As kind of a mini-natural history display it's interesting to looky loo. It's been a long time since I found anything there I wanted to buy that I could not get at a real mineral shop for much much less. They claim to have fossil mines but I have not seen much new stock in years. Buyer beware, provenance for fossils now days can be tricky. Everything can be faked. You really have to know your stuff when buying fossils. Most of their fossils do look real, but I am not an expert, and the prices are not realistic. All the things that they say are deadly really aren't, unless you ate mouthfuls of them. I don't know the point of the fear mongering. Recently they have started stocking more and more man made minerals, but don't clearly indicate what is natural and what is man made. If you are a mineral collector, I recommend Earth Treasures and Encompass, both...
Read moreWe love this store! My son has been enjoying this store since he was 6 years old and and now he is 13, he loves learning about all the rocks, fossils, bugs, animals from the owner/employees for many years. I was recently in the store with my son, again enjoying the day, when a woman/husband was giving the owner a hard time about the exposed materials that their son had touched. Which is weird because the sign displayed "Do Not Touch" is there for a reason. As a parent you are to watch your children in any store you go to. If your child can not read, then you as a parent need to explain to them what "Do Not Touch" means. I thought that's what parenting was about, teaching and educating your children how to behave in public/stores. Jurassic Fossils is a store that is educational, like a museum. Are you allowed to touch items in a museum? Hmmm, I doubt it!!! After this outbreak from the rude woman/husband in the store, I approached the owner and told her how we have enjoyed this store for many years and that it was my son's birthday coming up. She went behind the counter and handed me a box wrapped up and to give to my son for his birthday. It was totally unexpected and very generous. We will continue to support Jurassic Fossils as they have always been so kind. Note to customers: Please be respectful and don't act like a bunch of...
