Traveled to this "hotel" to go to a wedding. Many hotels in the area were high priced so we decided on the Quality Inn and Suites as we have stayed before in another city and enjoyed our stay. This was a mistake.
We were flying in late so we booked our trip Wed-Sun. We were checking in around 2:30 am Thurs so we booked Wed night so we would have a place to stay since check in on Thurs wouldn't have been until afternoon. When I walked into the office the woman said "You better not be checking in because I just did all my no shows!" and in fact had marked us as a "no show" and cancelled out entire reservation. She mentioned they mark people as No Shows at 3 am though I walked through the door no later than 2:45. After requesting to have our reservation back she proceeded to take 20 minutes trying to find us a room to stay in. We booked a 1 king bed room but she was having trouble finding a room because "I don't want to put you in a dirty room. That's happened before. So I'm trying to make sure I find a clean one." I asked what happened to the room we had booked and was told they never actually assigned our reservation a room. I gave up and said any room would be fine so we can get in and lay down after a long day of travel.
When we get to the room it is damp. The air has clearly not been run in the room for some time. Not a big deal we just turn it on but the damp part was a bit concerning. The beds are very uncomfortable but you get what you pay for there. The bedding was warn. You could tell these were sheets and blankets that should have been replaced some time ago.
When we went to shower the bathroom floor was wet. That was a bit odd. Later we realized the floor was wet because every time we flushed the toilet it would leak onto the floor from the base. There was a bunch of gunk on the back wall near the plumbing for the toilet that may have been an attempt to patch this up but it was leaking every time. We placed a towel at the base of the toilet.
The day of the wedding we were getting ready and THANKFULLY had both showered when suddenly the water was turned off. Zero warning, no call, no knock, just water turned off. We had to brush our teeth, fill the iron, and do hair with water bottles we thankfully had on hand. This is by far one of the most unacceptable things I have experienced at a "hotel"
Finally, we decided we had had enough. We booked the hotel through Sun night because we had a flight at 10 pm and an 11 am checkout would have us wandering for the day. We decided we didn't want to deal with the hotel Sun so we asked if we could cancel our Sun night reservation and get a refund. We were met with a stern and prompt "no." They said it was too late to cancel and we would have to pay for the night either way. When I asked "Is there a way to get an exception since we had to deal with you turning the water off while we were preparing for a wedding" I was also met with a "no you cannot". I actually cannot believe they couldn't even do that bit of courtesy.
This hotel is a series of buildings with rooms that have doors on the outside walkway and not in some kind of hallway or floor. You access each floor through an outside stairwell. This is a motel.
Long Story Short:
-Cancelled our reservation and we had to rebook and they couldn't give us the room we booked This is not a "hotel" these are blocks of buildings with outside stairwells leading up to doors that are not inside but on an outdoor walkway and accessed outside. This is a motel. Toilet leaked non stop bathroom was always wet Room just gross in general to a point of being uncomfortable. Turned the water off to the entire room with NO WARNING while we were preparing for a wedding Refused to refund us for a days stay because we wanted to leave a day early.
I hesitate to leave this kind of review. It has to be earned. Quality Inn and Suites Lake Havasu City have more than earned this 1 star. Spend the money and stay...
Read moreWe became members of Choice Hotels upon making reservations for our stay for a planned run of our Corvette Club from St George, UT. We chose Quality Inn in Lake Havasu due to another driver's review. When arriving at the property to check in at the check in time of 4 pm, we had to wait in line for 30 minutes to speak with the front desk staff, Marlene. We were told that our room was not finished cleaning due to staff shortages and they did not have an estimated time of completion. We waited in the hotel bar/food lobby for at least 45 minutes. We noticed that people were checking in and getting rooms at check in. When witnessing this, we inquired as to why they could check in and we had to wait. When we inquired, we were told our room was still not ready. I then asked if there was any rooms available and they gave us a basement room. We were supposed to have a 2nd floor room. At no time while waiting, were we given an option of any other room. We were charged $106.96. Unfortunately, the room had been occupied previously because the bed had been ruffled due to someone sitting on the bed. When we used the bathroom sink, it had not been cleaned. At that point, we had plans for dinner and decided to go and figure out what to do. We came back to the hotel to check out. I gave the room keys to Marlene. I was told that there was no one to escalate to on the premises. We left the keys and drove home. It took us 5 hours to drive home at 9:30 at night. Today when I called the hotel to get a refund, I was told that the manager was not available because she had worked the night shift, which we could have called on our long drive home. Today I escalated to the Choice website customer help line. I found out that Marlene never checked us out. In our 50+ years of staying in hotels, we have NEVER had an experience like this. I WOULD not ever stay in this hotel. There is not guarantee of if and when your reservation will be fulfilled. Choice/Quality Inn does not have an escalations processes in place and like so many other organizations, their customer service is not located in the US. Thank you Quality Inn for an incredibly horrible night and experience. Good luck if you decide...
Read moreWe have been coming here since around 2000 back when it was the Ramada. My husband enjoyed going to the little bar they had here after a day on the lake. This fathers day weekend I booked us a room for the weekend. We arrived in the evening and i stood in a long line to get us checked in. We were put in room 326. Upon entering, I immediately noticed a funky smell. Our bedding was stained and dirty looking. The room was very dark even with the lights on and the curtain was dingy and tore. I wanted to immediately leave but I knew it would be hard to find another place on short notice. The place was packed with people. There were loud kids screaming until about 1am in the next room . At some point i finally fell asleep. Later the next day i realized i had bug bites on my arm and one on my stomach. We got back to the motel and I got a flash light and checked the floor and behind the bed. There was at least one insect on the floor and dirt and dust and who knows what else on the floor and floor board. I packed my stuff and went to front desk and told them i was NOT staying here ANOTHER day! The front desk girl was rude. She was refusing give me any receipt or refund whatsoever and told me i had to call " Debbie " on Monday. I argued with her for about a half an hour. Finally the housekeeping manager " Brian" instructed her to refund me for the remaining day. I am pist that i am since seeing other complaints here on google . It tells me they know they have a problem and just dont care. I am NEVER coming back to this dump motel again! The huge red bumps on my arms itch and all my luggage is quarantined in my garage in black trash bags. My husband also has bites on his ankle To the owners of this establishment...
