Driftwood Beach Club — Hotel in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

A roach motel with a view.

Had to leave on the second day due to this issue. Last time I checked vacationing didn't include the epic game of 'kill the roach' well, at-least not for me. If that's a sport you like to partake on, stay at the Driftwood. Luckily I was able get a full refund, but not without a fight.

The girls in the front desk are either air headed, or need an attitude adjustment, there is no middle ground. When I first presented the issue to the front desk the 'air-headed one' kept smiling and telling me that she was going to ask a so called "Bobby"... I have yet to meet this "Bobby" nor did I heard back from the front desk, so I had to follow up regarding the roach incident with the air-headed one; to which I received the equivalent of this (¯(ツ)/¯) with an absurdly polite smile that tread ever so lightly on the line of condescending and polite. The morning after, Monday, I spoke with the "attitude adjustment" front desk clerk which reciprocated the same level of anger I gave her at 9 am in the morning, with one HUGE difference, I had all the right in the world to be angry because I was on vacation swatting roaches while she just had a case of the Mondays.

Lastly, I was told by one of the maintenance men that roaches in Florida was a "common thing, plus they where here first" I could just imagine the rock he lives under. Mind you, I'm from Miami (born and raised) I know Miami "ain't part of Flo-rida" for you southern folk. But we've got the same roaches, BRO.

Also, they call Roaches "Palmetto bugs". Cute right?

Rust on the bath tub, lime and mildew on the faucets, also really dirty pool.

The private beach with chairs, patio and shuffle board about two minutes away. Restaurants, bars and entertainment just one block away! Free bus service to supermarket and other close businesses! Hot tub and heated pool! House keepers keep units (full kitchen, private bedroom and living room, ""pull out bed") darn clean. Complementary guest parking next to Beach Club. Management on premises and quickly responsive to all needs of the guests. My wife and I have visited the Driftwood Beach Club for the past several years and have never been...

Another TERRIFIC vacation @ Driftwood is on the books! What started as a visit by my parents to LBTS 38 years ago has now turned into an amazing family tradition. As a family, we have been coming here together for almost 20 years. Seeing the other owners (who have become extended family) year after year and making new memories is priceless. Welcoming new friends is also great. And seeing the familiar faces of the staff is always comforting ~ Ellen, Pam, Kim, Mara and John welcome us back time and time again.
