Tropic Seas Beach Front Resort Motel — Hotel in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

Have been coming here for 7 yrs. The first 5 were great when the lady and husband ran the office and did maintenance and cleaning. They have retired and the owner hired their son. Well last year and in 2023 was bad. The rooms had bed bugs. The air conditioning always went out. The pool continuously dirty. Always rented out the best room to his friends that where loud and used drugs in front of my children. The managers son would take my child’s play toys and not return them. Or brake them. Physically abusing to other childern. Again when the mom and husband ran the place everything worked and it was clean and had the greatest family atmosphere. Ever since there son took over it’s been a disaster the hidden gem is now turning into a broken down motel. The owner really should look into how the man is running his resort. From what was a place of fun, peaceful family time and great people running this gem has fallen to a low level. I recommend this place to family, friends and coworkers and the returns since the son took over have been the same thumbs down. I hate to say or give bad reviews. Some things can be passed on. But bed bugs? Air conditioning constantly going out or not working. This will be the first year in 7yrs we will not be celebrating the 4th of July because of these reasons. When the management thinks more to comfort his friends instead of regular customers. He not caring how dirty the place is on a daily. Broken chairs, dirty pool, broken table umbrellas. Appliances not working. No air conditioning bed bugs. Horrible. If the owner has a chance to read this get rid of this guy because he is destroying your once great family hidden gem. For the price you can't go wrong with this motel. Its location is fantastic, with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean a mere 50 yards from the property's pool/lounge area, & the section of Ft. Lauderdale Beach the property sits upon is extremely quiet, & safe.. Especially at night. Staff and other guests were all very friendly! While I was staying here, I was lucky enough to be able to go down and do a little late night surf fishing 🎣 and I wasn't disappointed! I caught several Barracuda in the 30"-40" range, as well as a nice Blue Fish & several small Jack's. The property was quaintly decorated for the holidays and very cozy. My suite's interior was kind of what you'd expect with any motel within this price range, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bathroom in our unit was updated, with a nice, large, walk-in style, glass-enclosed shower that would easily accommodate 2. For those of you who actually watch television while vacationing, you won't be disappointed with the 55" LG LED flat-screen TV in the living room area with digital cable service. They also offered free Wi-Fi, and free coffee, hot chocolate, & tea via a commercial grade Kuerig K-Cup coffee machine in the downstairs lobby. The motel's property and heated pool were both meticulously maintained and there were plenty of lounge chairs available for those who who enjoy some 🌞 worshipping. I'd definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this establishment for all of the above...

I was walking along the beach when a severe storm suddenly came up. There was heavy rain and dangerous lightning. I ducked under the awning of the Tropic Seas Hotel for shelter. I was sitting very quietly on a chair outside of the office. There was no one in the office. I was minding my own business when a Hispanic man wearing a bandanna came up to me and asked me what I was doing there. I told him that I was just sheltering from the storm. He demanded that I leave. I told him I could not because of the dangerous lightning. At this point, he began yelling at me, then tried to assault me by grabbing and shoving me. I started videoing him coming after me. He grabbed my phone from me. The manager came out and I demanded that the police be called. Once I threatened to call the police, the manager had someone escort that irate staff member away, retrieved my phone, and let me sit quietly and shelter from the storm as I had been doing before being assaulted. If this is any indication of the integrity of the people that either work or manage this hotel, I could not possibly recommend anybody stay here. This situation was completely insane. This was a severe storm, and I was just trying to seek shelter. I was in no way intruding or interfering with anyone or anything.
