My family and I stay in a lot of hotels because we love to travel. We stayed here because a friend recommended it to us. I was very exited to try it out due to the pictures of how beautiful it looked. Now, I want to start with the positives. It was a great location and the view was beautiful. The staff was very friendly. I called and made the reservation over the phone and told the lady I spoke with that I would be paying with a different card at the hotel but held it with a different credit card. Upon arrival I was told they charged the card on file because no one noted anything stating otherwise which I was very specific about but not the end of the world.. we also got a cute little welcome bag for our newly adopted dog which we though was very amazing. The cons- the first thing I do when we travel anywhere is check the room and make sure it’s clean… the bathroom had mold all over the ceiling and the shower curtain was all torn. The floors in the bathroom and right when you walk in were pretty dirty still… but my major issue with the cleanliness was the dog pee splatter all over the mini fridge. As I was putting our drinks in the fridge I noticed it looked like something was spilt all over the front of the fridge. I got some sanitizer wipes and cleaned it off and sure enough it was yellow. A dog definitely marked it. Now I know this happens when you stay in dog friendly rooms but the little bench in there also had stains all over it. The chairs had crumbs all over and when my son took the cushion off of one of them it was pretty gross under there. The room itself didn’t really have an inviting feel to it and for the almost $500 a night, I would have definitely stayed somewhere else if I could have. All in all we didn’t hate it but we definitely didn’t want to spend alot of time there like we usually do our hotel rooms.

We love this place. We had 2 vacations here in the past month. I do wish they would allow kids to swim after 9pm; especially if there are no other adults in pool. It was just me and my 2 kids alone. Nobody else in the pool. We had just gotten in and unfortunately told only 18 and over. It was a week night and no other people. It would have been nice to allow us to enjoy the moment to relax until 18+ people came. I had to make my son and daughter leave and I stayed by myself for an hour alone. It would have been nice to have had my children enjoy it. I hope they will make an adjustment to that policy when the area is empty. Especially on a week night. The queen bed i had sagged very badly to the side. You can tell many people have slept on one side of it and it felt like I was constantly rolling to the edge. They should replace some of the older sagging beds. The shower pressure is very weak; more so than other hotels. They don’t offer an outside faucet to rinse sand off of feet from coming from beach so you gotta go to pool area to rinse sand off which is okay, but an outdoor faucet would be more convenient. Most hotels offer that. Hopefully Surfland can offer that some day. Aside from that I still love this place and the staff. The ocean front views are awesome. We will keep coming back. Keeping fingers crossed if we are swimming after 9pm and are alone they will let us remain in pool until adults show up (if they do). The tide pool outside the hotel by the rocks is one of their best features. I also noticed they seem to do a great job checking the pool and hot tub water on a regular basis to make sure it’s sanitary. Their continental breakfast is standard and is convenient.

the staff is friendly, the location is very ideal when wanting to stay at the coast. the room was a good size and the view was beautiful. BUT there were many problems. first being our first night there, as soon as i took the sheets off to get in bed there was sand in the sheets. we got there at night so we hadn’t gone to the beach yet and there was sand on the floor too. i figured to ignore it bc since its on the beach im sure its difficult to get sand out of everything, but considering our stay was over $900 for 3 nights the housekeeping should be TOP NOTCH, in my opinion. although the housekeeping changed our bedding upon request and we felt better. now to my big problem. the fireplace in our room got turned on due to it being a rainy day and it was cold. it was on for about 15 minutes and when my 16 month old touched it, she got burned and has a huge blister in her hand. no warning signs about it getting hot & the staff knows it gets hot but didn’t tell us upon check in especially seeing we had a baby with us. i work in the hospitality industry and in my experience, we do whatever we can to make sure our rooms are clean, comfortable, and SAFE for our guests. i’m dumbfounded that someone can run a hotel with staff that know a fireplace can burn someone and at the very least doesn’t have warning signs. do better. i’m still waiting for the owner to email me back.

I had my second stay at the Nordic last weekend. My first stay was great! Queen room with kitchen- the view was amazing, can't beat the price, the kids loved the salt water pool, the only negative was how uncomfortable the mattress and pillows were.

Since the first stay went well, I booked this hotel again for our most recent visit to the coast, last weekend. We had a King suite. We checked in very early because the room was ready, they were still cleaning the others.. FYI watching the rooms being cleaned there were no blankets, bedspreads, shams or accent pillows in the bin that they toss dirty laundry in, only sheets and towels were taken out of the rooms... No clue how often the others get washed... Upon entering the room the first thing I saw was a giant bush in the "ocean view" - room 116.. You can't even see the beach or lighted surf from the room. You have to be standing at the window or on the patio for an actual oceanfront view. We then sat down on the bed and began to eat our takeout and smelt a terrible urine odor.. (I had already pulled the bedspread off the bed as I do with every hotel stay, those never get washed with every room change.) I pulled off the blanket, the smell had to be coming from the mattress.. It was so foul I couldn't eat, I tried to look for something to spray to lessen the smell, I ended up misting some body spray around the room and under my nose, I couldn't stand the smell... I should have asked to change rooms but my kids were already settled and unpacked, it wouldn't have been an easy transition. My sleep was terrible, just like my first stay - the mattress is so uncomfortable and the pillows are worse.. Bring your own pillows.. If you have any sort of back issues, you'll hurt even more in the morning.. Bathrooms are small, that's acceptable though, the view and urine is not.. I won't be going back to this hotel, I'll spend 40 extra bucks and get a bit nicer hotel.

Parking is terrible also. Front staff has always been friendly But - I did call the front at one point in the evening and ask if I could have 4-6 oz. of milk for my daughters bottle and she declined, she said they didn't have milk, I responded by asking about the milk they use for breakfast, she said she was not able to give me 4 oz of milk.. Which I thought was unsatisfactory customer service..

I see many reviews saying how clean the rooms are- just because a bed is made nice and tight and there's a wrap over the toilet lid, doesn't mean its clean.. I personally saw that they took NO blankets or bedspreads out of these rooms when they cleaned.

Bushfront...

BEWARE! Unprofessional and unethical. They LIE through their teeth. They WILL try to rip you off. You just don't know it until you've paid. (Please read other bad reviews that reflect such dishonesty.)

I made reservation through their website. The cancellation policy was clearly written on the payment page (24 hours cancellation and 10% admin fee). It was fair enough, so I paid for the room. I also get a confirmation email stating the same policy.

5 days prior to the trip, I had to cancel the trip. So I wrote them an email to cancel the room. I get a short and blunt reply stating "there will be no cancellation, and the credit card charges will stay." Naturally, I responded mentioning their cancellation policy.

They said that they sent out an email earlier stating that there will be no cancellation. Problem is: I never got any email. I even checked all the spam folders. EVEN IF they sent out an email, you can't just say "you won't get any refund" AFTER providing "24 hour cancellation" policy. So I replied stating such.

Then they tried to haggle with me. They wanted 20% admin fee. Seriously? So I repied that I agreed to "24 hours, 10% fee" policy, so that's what it is.

Then they send me a FALSIFIED email. This really made me angry. They send me a confirmation email backdated, with "24 hour, 10% fee" replaced with "fee may vary" policy. Now, this undoubtedly crossed the line. They're lying through their teeth. I had the original confirmation email they sent which clearly read "24 hour, 10%." Now, they are sending me a DOCTORED email, BACKDATED, showing a different policy. Clearly, they were trying to CHEAT and RIP me OFF.

I could have cancelled 24 hours before my reservation, but I was trying to be nice. I could have stopped arguing and just file a complaint through the credit card company, but I wanted them to have a chance to sell the room. Perhaps I shouldn't have been considerate. They eventually gave me the refund, but doing the minimum after attempted ripoff is not going to win them any medals.

Honest mistakes with no malintent happen. I'm okay with that. But they were LYING and being simply UNETHICAL. That I cannot tolerate. I'm sure with this kind of greed and ethics, they will make some money, but I sincerely hope such dishonest businesses...

The overall hotel experience was pretty good! First off the checkin process was quick and easy! The hotel staff at the front desk were very kind and helpful! Upon entering room the room was a little very warm. Come to find out this hotel doesn’t have air conditioning. The saving grace was the view! You get a beautiful ocean view! The windows only opened a couple inches, which at night time we would open the window to let in the cool ocean breeze and cool the room off! The only bad part about opening the windows is there was no screen to keep out the bugs! We did have a few bugs fly in! The bed was comfy and the pillows were too! The room was clean and organized ! Very nice little hotel room! The French with fresh ground coffee from the front desk was a very nice touch! The breakfast was not too bad at all! The waffles were tasty. The coffee was hot! The fresh fruit, eggs, and sausage were delicious. The breakfast attendant was kind and helpful in getting items that were out! The parking is not bad for smaller cars, However if you had a big truck it wouldn’t be too convenient! There is about 100 stairs down ythe beach. They are like a rock trail and then a few stories of stairs! It’s not too bad of a hike and well worth the trip to the beach. The beach was not very busy until the weekend, which even on the weekends was not too extremely busy. The kite festival was going on so there were a lot of people in town which made it very busy in the town! The downfall of this hotel is the walls are paper thin! We were woke up one day early from customers that were talking very loudly. You can hear the next room over having a conversation! The doors are thin as well! You can hear cars beeping and people talking as they walk by! They have made many improvements that make it a great little hotel! There is a fire pit area with games and a bbq grill. A area that has lounge chairs overlooking the ocean! The pool has adult hours the last couple hours so the adults can sit in the hot tub without children! The hotel is close enough to town that you can walk the downtown area. It is a little off the beaten path however still close to all the...
