I live around the corner from this hotel and I tend to see a lot of Europeans staying in the hotel and/or walking to liquor store around the corner. I feel awkward because not only do they look out of place in this neighborhood, I LOOK OUT OF PLACE here as an American. And I live here. It's a Central American neighborhood (Guatemala, El Salvador), it's not touristy or inviting like Chinatown or Koreatown, but it is close to DTLA. There's really nothing "American" here except for the country in which the hotel is located. ||||If you are looking for Central American food and whatnot, then by all means visit. The restaurants typically cater to local immigrants, but they would be extremely happy and appreciative if you were to visit, especially from Europe. ||||The hotel itself is probably tolerable for a night (I've stayed in worse), but there's nothing interesting or American in the surrounding area.||||I mention this because I stayed in a hotel in Munich in 2015 (Hotel Royal) when I had a 20-hour layover to India, and the hotel itself was nice but I was like WTH? Where's the German culture? It was not at all what I expected Germany to be. The area was Little Baghdad or something. ||||So I imagine Europeans will probably feel the same about this hotel/area. ||||I'd recommend spending a bit more on hotels closer to DTLA if you can afford it or consider staying in Koreatown where there's a lot more going on (and the subway will get you to DTLA in only a couple stops).||||And if you do choose to stay at this "hotel," there are a few gems in the area:||||Porchetta Republic (Italian sandwiches -- very good and authentic)||The taco stand on 7th/Union -- very tasty and authentic tacos||The Monty Bar on 7th St.||The Colombian Restaurant nearby (affordable but beer/wine only)||The Donut Shop at 8th/Union (good American donuts and coffee. Very cheap)||||||Additional tip: if you're walking from the hotel to Downtown, you should take 7th. street. 8th is safe (maybe even safer) but a more boring walk. ||||Movies filmed/taking place in this neighborhood: Training Day, Falling Down, Street Kings, The Fast and the...

I love this hotel I feel it's like home because the who works at this hotel make you feel as your family they are very friendly and smiling face. The hotel it's old but it's very clean and I don't care because I feel it is like home and the employees make you feel as your family the hotel have some laws like after you live 23 days you should to move and come back because of Corona when I moved I feel wired while the hotel I moved to it new. But I didn't feel well until I back to it. Also the cleaners are very welcomes and very friendly they knocking the door very much slower not like other knocking very strong and open the door not because they don't want to clean they just want to see what you doing and if you are not in the room they stoling and go with out clean. This hotel not touches anything also they asked before getting in can I enter. They clean everyday and they give you all what you need. More over the hotel give time for extending your room not like other hotel at 11 you should to move or extends. One time they let stay and give time until 6 pm because my phone was crashed if I in other hotel they'll kick me out from 11 and I went to fixed my phone but it's could not because some water in it after that they give there phone to extend no one will do it even the regular people. Some time I come late and they are sleeping and I forget my keys inside the room and I woke them up to get keys if anyone woke him up even regular people they will be very mad even me but they come with smiling and I apologise for that and they told me you don't to need to apologise you'll never find like this even if he woke up. The boss of the hotel make you feel he as regular one also he is the owner not like other hotel they do anything thing to show off because he wants to show you he the boss. At the end I love the hotel and they are like my family. And it's cheaper than the apartment because they not care about money more than you. First the costumers after that the money. I advice for anyone wants to live longer come...

None of the following is exaggerated in anyway, it is completely objective and true. Undeniably the most disgusting and uncomfortable place I have stayed in. This is not a “hotel” but more like a hostel, and it is a crime they charge $100 a night. The photos they advertise are NOTHING like reality. The room I stayed in has no ac and no screen on the windows, so there were lots of bugs flying around in the room and it was unbearably hot. The tv was leaning against the wall in the corner of the room and did not work. The smoke detector had been pulled out of the wall (leaving a hole) and put in a drawer. All of the bed headboards and dressers looked like they were found on the side of the road. Dirty and disgusting walls with marks, crumbling paint and grime all over. The bathroom walls had lots of spots with tiny splattering all over that I am certain was blood. The bedsheets on one bed also had dark red and black stains (blood?) and crumbs. Was too scared to sleep in the bed so I slept on top of the sheets. Still woke up itching. Bathroom has one sink with no counter, everything in it was dirty and old. Stains all over, especially the walls, as of no one has ever cleaned anything. They give you two towels in the bathroom, no washcloth and no bath at. Main room door lock had been removed. Room and bathroom smelled slightly like urine and mold. I asked the front desk if I could switch rooms and listed all my concerns (especially noting the blood stains and lack of a smoke detector) and he said there was nothing he could do but he would call the room if anything changes. I guess he forgot the room didn’t have a phone either.

This is the most scary hotel I've ever stayed. First: the hotel condition is so bad, after I checked in, the room didn't have room phone as said it's free local calls. No chair in the room, no clothes hangers (after I asked, and they told me they would give me couple, but never happened). And the TV didn't work at all. After I asked them to fix it, they had somebody came at 9:48pm first night, 9:14pm second night, after I asked them to come in day time, they were in my room around 8:30pm 3rd night, since there was no chair, I had to stand there nearly 30 minutes until they finally half fixed it (the remote didn't setup). Second: I found they didn't change the bed set, hairs and some dirty stuff on the sheet, the guy even argued with me, finally gave me a new set and I had to change myself. Second morning, I found so many new-born flies in the bathroom, I had to buy spray to clean up. Third and the worst part: the third night I was there, there was some guy knocked on my door harassing me at 2:08AM, since there was no room phone, I couldn't call front desk for help, luckily the guy left before I called 911. Forth: the area is so dirty(picture 5 just cross the street) and scary, some people even smoke marijuana at hotel door. I felt unsafe to keep staying, so I called Expedia asking them to call the hotel to cancel my last two nights, only asked for one night refunded. First when I was on the phone with Expedia customer service, they agreed to refund me, now I got an email told me they declined. Just want to warn who may want to book this hotel, you may get lots negative surprise.

TL;DR: do NOT stay here. It’s not a hotel. I avoided this place because of the reviews, but my friend booked here to stay because it’s cheap and close to where we are going. The parking is awful; we had to circle around five times to finally find parking a block away. We ended up paying $10 for a night for parking (we had to talk to the manager to let us park at a joining lot and he pressed the key fob, like it’s his own garage). At the front entrance, we saw a NOTICE of a public hearing. Basically they got in trouble with the city of LA, which entails necessary changes to the hotel and current environmental impacts it’s having. That’s alarming. We checked in, and the lobby looked dirty. For a place that is “senior citizen friendly”, the fact that the lobby doesn’t have a ramp is interesting. The moment we walked into the room, I did not feel safe there at all. It was definitely not Skid Row I was concerned about. The bathroom tub paint was PEELING off and the room showed rusted pipes on the ceiling. There were blood stains on the sheets as well and a hole on our bathroom door. The room smelled like cigarette smoke, even though it is supposed to be a non smoking room. We never checked out so fast and when we complained about the bedsheets, the staff said they could change it tomorrow, which for me, is a no. You do get what you paid for, but I have been in cheaper motels and they’re cleaner. It feels like a 1920s slum tenement apartment disguised as a hotel, so they don’t have to do background checks or credit checks. Kind staff did their best, which is why I gave a 1 star rating.
